"You said you have a 50-50 chance, right? So maybe you can change their fate and let him live. Even if you fail, it was their fate from the start," he said as Michael nodded. "Let's go then," he added as the others followed after him, curious about it.

While Michael smiled, "Finally, I can complete this Quest of mine."

It was a quest he received after coming into contact with a dog, but he never tried it because he wasn't powerful enough at that time. But finally when he become powerful enough, that dog of the old Duke died due to living out its lifespan, and after that he never found any other beast as he spent most of his time at his home, but now he can do it.

Soon, they reached a cave as Reaper stopped them. "You wait here, I will go and check it," Reaper said. Everyone waited outside as he went in, where his mate had already given birth and lay near her cubs, exhausted. Reaper checked the cubs, finding six little furballs curled up near her. He checked them carefully and found two that wouldn't make it through the night. He sighed as he looked at his kids, but he picked them up and came out of the cave.

"There are two of them?" Michael asked as he nodded.

"Unfortunately," Reaper replied.

"Can you really heal them?" Protector asked, worried that these small ones might turn into Abominations. "Now is the best time."

Michael looked at the cubs, who had just been born, and decided to give them a chance.

Michael placed his hands on the two cubs and began to heal them. Their lifeforce was very weak, like a candle flickering in the wind. He focused, first healing their bodies so they could survive the awakening process. After a few minutes, the two cubs were as good as new—better than before—as Michael helped them go through the impurity cleansing process. That was what had been killing them, the excess impurities in their internal organs.

"You healed them. Now, the next step is to evolve them," Lith said, seeing them with his Spirit vision using True Magic, it is simply adding Spirit mana into eyes to see the what couldn't be normally seen by normal eyes, like inside of an living body.

"Yes, but..." Michael said as he began to hesitate. Earlier, he had lied—it wasn't a 50-50 chance, but a 70-30 one, with the higher chance being success. However, there was also the distant possibility of failure. He felt a strange weight in his chest, unsure if he should continue. What if he failed? The thought of that burden weighed heavily on him.

Just as he hesitated, a thick, silvar pillar of light shot into the sky, followed by another coming from the sky, glowing with the same silvery hue. The connected with each other forming a single thick pillar of light around him.

At the same time three pairs of eyes turned their heads at the same time looking at the Pillar of light, "World Tribulation?" they muttered.

"How?" they asked, amazed. Normally, there were two types of Tribulation: one a golden pillar for Beasts when they evolved, and the other a black pillar for Abominations when they were born or evolved.

But now, seeing a completely new color, they grew curious, each of them looking toward the source, astonished to find a human as the source of the Tribulation. "When do humans start evolving?" asked a flaming Phoenix, while a Griffin looked at her and replied, "My love was human, and he never evolved—he just advanced in True Magic."

" and humans are incapable of evolving" she added.

" which means he is not Human" added the Phoenix.

The third being, a massive dragon, spoke up. "Now, that's interesting," he said, as the other two asked how.

"You know when World Tribulation happens, right?" the dragon asked, and the others nodded. The World Tribulation is nothing but an test by Mogar, the World Conciousness.

Mogar is the being that causes world tribulations, when its desires align with the person undergoing the tribulation, and thereby choosing Guardians. Tribulations happen constantly to beasts, humans, plants, and undead alike, every single day. They happen whenever Mogar thinks that someone can be useful for its purposes, and is usually the path to Guardianhood. During every tribulation, Mogar evaluates the candidate's worth through their actions. Success or failure depends entirely on the candidate, however. The first tribulation is usually about the skill the world is interested in. The second and usually last one, is about self-control. The number of tribulations varies from person to person, but most fail at the second one.

"That human is going through his first Tribulation, which means he is a candidate for Guardian and may one day evolve into one like us," the dragon said, and the other two nodded.

"And this time, his first Tribulation is mercy. He gave life to those two cubs, and his original plan was to awaken them to see his magic theory works or not, but now he is hesitating" the dragon continued, as he easily understood the situation, being the Guardian of Knowledge and Wisdom.

"So there's a chance he might end up being a Guardian of Mercy?" the Phoenix asked.

The dragon nodded. "Yes. The first Tribulation is what Mogar is looking for in them." he said, as they continued watching.

Lith and the others didn't see the pillar, nor did Michael. For them, it was invisible as Michael unknowingly went through his first Tribulation.

"I have given them life. It's okay if I take it," words like this echoed in his mind, tempting him to go through with it. Michael looked at the two cubs. "I will gain a lot," he kept hearing, but he steadied his breath as he looked at Reaper, who was just watching him.

"They are healed. There's no need to push them for evolution to extend their lives," Michael said, and Reaper nodded, thanking him for taking care of his cubs. Reaper sighed in relief, feeling great none of his cubs has to die, and the thick pillar of silver light disappeared, Michael showing mercy to two cubs passed his first Tribulation as Mogar also gifted him, a gift he wouldn't have had discovered any time soon, but discovered it thanks to his systems.
