Chapter 346: C234
Kain was able to stay in the ninja world for more than a year and did not return to the Marvel world until the Fire Nation's reforms had stabilized and Tsunade's belly grew bigger by the day.
Although it wasn't ideal to leave just before Tsunade was about to give birth, Kain still had many matters to handle in other worlds—especially in the biochemical world.
As the godfather, he needed to check on Alice's growth and the progress of the aircraft carrier's construction from time to time.
The aircraft carrier he envisioned was practically a self-sustaining space city, with an internal energy supply equivalent to four billionths of a planetary core. He had also made modifications, adding alchemy runes to ensure automatic repairs for any physical damage.
Such a massive project was impossible to complete in the Marvel world. Even the U.S. government lacked the necessary foundation to build it. Only in the biochemical world was there any hope of success.
The immense power and resources of the Umbrella Corporation were capable of influencing the political landscape of several major nations.
If people had to choose between paying taxes to the government and purchasing Umbrella's products, most would choose the former. After all, the latter was as essential as air—an indispensable product for human survival. Even in death, one might still end up purchasing Umbrella's funeral services.
"It's not a bad harvest—Eight-Tails' complete Chakra plus Three-Tails' Chakra. If I use the Thunder Fruit's abilities in battle, I can sustain it for at least three days. At the simplest level of electrical discharge, that should be around 500 million volts."
Moreover, the transformation of his body through Eight-Tails' Chakra was still ongoing. While the initial effects were the most pronounced, the process had slowed down, but there were still gradual improvements.
Notably, Eight-Tails' and Three-Tails' Chakra shared a connection, as they both coexisted within the Ten-Tails. The Ten-Tails itself grew by absorbing a planet's life energy, directly altering its lifeform.
If Kain were to consume the Chakra of all nine Tailed Beasts, there was a 90% chance he would ascend to godhood. Even in the Marvel Universe, he would be capable of destroying galaxies.
At that point, Thor would likely feel embarrassed to call himself the God of Thunder. With such meager lightning abilities, how could he still hold that title in front of Kain?
"Kamui… No chance!"
Kain attempted to use the Kamui eye technique, but he couldn't transfer objects into Kamui space. It seemed the Kamui dimension was still linked to the other eye.
Technically, it wasn't impossible, but the Kamui space was too far away. Even with his vast reserves of Chakra and magic power, he still couldn't bridge the gap. Perhaps if he had Chakra on the level of the Ten-Tails, he could connect the pupil technique from the Marvel Universe to the ninja world.
However, once he obtained both Kamui Sharingan, that problem would be resolved. With his current strength, he faced no fatal threats—his protective spells and electromagnetic barriers alone were enough to block most attacks.
If he ever encountered an attack powerful enough to break his electromagnetic barrier, he could instantly reconstruct his body.
For now, Kain was waiting for Loki to bring the Mind Stone to Earth. Once that happened, he would obtain the energy stone embedded in Loki's staff.
Kain had no intention of abandoning magic. While the Thunder Fruit had an extremely high potential ceiling, there were situations where magic was simply more effective.
He had returned to deliver some news, and in the few months he had been away, the events in Wakanda had come to an end.
Now, the three most valuable resources of Wakanda had been divided among U.S. factions. However, some of their technological advancements had been hidden and erased by the Red Queen, ensuring that both Hydra and the U.S. government only obtained counterfeit versions.
The Vibranium mine was the most crucial resource, but its output was scarce, difficult to refine, and extremely valuable.
Currently, various factions in the United States had been arguing and negotiating for a long time before barely reaching an agreement that was acceptable to all parties.
The stakes were too high. As the representative of one faction's interests, the president couldn't afford to be too greedy—otherwise, Kenny wouldn't be the only president with a brain too big for his own good.
The Pent Group was allotted 150 kilograms of Vibranium annually from the military and Hydra. Given the annual mining volume, this amounted to nearly one ton—a considerable share.
This reflected the growing influence of the Pent Group. As a loyal military subsidiary of Umbrella, the company not only produced cutting-edge weaponry but also developed new energy-based armaments and super-soldier serum. No one could ignore the weight it carried.
If the Pent Group went all-in on super-soldier serum production, the metahuman population would explode.
Many had tried to investigate the company, but the resistance was immense. At least within the U.S., even agencies like the FBI and CIA lacked the capability to do so.
S.H.I.E.L.D. had the freedom to act, and its intelligence and technological capabilities were top-tier. However, when it came to facing magic and artificial intelligence, even they were left in the dark.
Then there was the Heart-Shaped Herb, a human-enhancement plant with virtually no side effects. If research yielded successful results, it could become the next-generation super-soldier serum.
Not long after Kain sent out his message, Laura called directly:
"Boss, Obadiah is interested, but he wants to meet you in person. If he doesn't see you, he probably won't agree."
"We could also apply pressure through other means, gradually acquiring Stark Industries' shares. Based on the current situation, Stark Industries' industries have all been replaced, and in two years, most shareholders won't be able to hold on."
"Obadiah… Who? Oh, right. Him." Kain had been away from the Marvel world for so long that hearing Obadiah's name felt unfamiliar. It took a moment before he recalled who he was through his connection to Stark Industries.
"Two years is too long. Tell him to meet me at the Pent Group's energy industry factory. I'll deal with him there—and crush his last hope while I'm at it."
Stark Industries' weapons manufacturing division was still incredibly valuable, on par with the arms factories of several mid-sized nations. If the Pent Group acquired it, its weapons production capabilities would become even stronger.
If Stark Industries had continued its weapons production, military contracts would have ensured its stability. But with Tony Stark shutting down the weapons division and shifting focus to reactor technology, the company's future was uncertain.
"Got it, boss. I'll set up the meeting with Obadiah right away."
Meanwhile, in Stark Tower, Jarvis' voice suddenly rang out:
"Sir, the other party is using an independent network. It is unlikely that I will be able to retrieve any information. There is a 70% probability that the Red Queen serves as the Pent Group's AI processing system."
"I cannot breach their firewall, and they have already detected my presence."
At the same time he was discovered, Jarvis initiated an emergency protocol and activated Tony Stark's private network to preserve data—a necessary precaution.
Tony took a sip of coffee, raising an eyebrow.
"An artificial intelligence? Are you telling me that someone as smart as me isn't the only one who built one?"
He smirked. "Looks like the Pent Group is more interesting than I thought. Pull up all available information on their executives, Jarvis."
"Only publicly available data can be retrieved. Further searches require access to government databases."
Tony didn't hesitate. "Then do it, Jarvis. Find me everything on them—from childhood to now."
Soon, files on Kain Pent, Betty Ross, Laura, and others appeared. However, the Red Queen had altered the records, and Jarvis couldn't access files on figures like Killian or the Vankos.
"Nothing suspicious on the surface," Tony mused. "But I have a feeling this all ties back to him. If you can't find any direct evidence, Jarvis, check the beneficiaries. What do you think?"
Jarvis responded, "I believe you are correct, sir. No one else seems capable of orchestrating this—but Kain Pent doesn't appear to be, either."
The manipulation of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents had been a complex puzzle for Tony. He had spent considerable time analyzing it and concluded that such a flawless setup could only occur if those agents had willingly sacrificed themselves.
Yet they had been on a Level-7 mission. According to Nick Fury, agents of that caliber were beyond compromise. No outside force should have been able to influence them.
"Jarvis, they're only operating at a fifth of my efficiency. Can we even form the Avengers at this rate?"
If Nick Fury were here, Tony might have enjoyed teasing him. Even though his ideals had changed, his arrogance remained. And considering how unimpressive S.H.I.E.L.D. had been lately, Fury's words from before still lingered like a thorn in his mind.
It wasn't that he didn't fit the Avengers. It was that the Avengers weren't worthy of his genius.
Tony smirked at his own thought and was about to sip his champagne when Jarvis interrupted.
"Sir, Miss Potts is looking for you. She will be here shortly."
As Jarvis spoke, Tony noticed long legs descending the spiral staircase. Moments later, Pepper opened the glass door and walked in.
"I thought you were asleep, so I was debating whether to cover you with a blanket. Don't you care about the company at all?"
Pepper Potts' tone matched the nickname Tony Stark had given her—sharp, yet laced with concern. Lately, she had been staying up late dealing with company affairs, but despite her efforts, there seemed to be no effective way to save Stark Industries.
"I know what you're thinking. Don't worry, Pepper, I'll handle it."
Tony Stark showed no concern over the company's turmoil. He casually grabbed a bottle of champagne, poured himself a glass, and continued,
"I already told Obadiah the same thing. I think you should hold a meeting to discuss the company's future direction. Relax—the company isn't going to collapse."
Pepper let out a quiet sigh, her brows furrowing slightly. "Obadiah never mentioned anything about this to me."
Tony shrugged, completely unfazed. "Maybe he got distracted by some model and forgot. Don't worry, I'll remind him."
