Marvel: Trading with Worlds

Chapter 262: C171(2)

Meanwhile, at the Konoha Newspaper office, the president took a piece of news and handed it to his subordinates.

He solemnly said, "Put this on the cover of 'Ninja Weekly' the day after tomorrow."

"President, if this is true, then Mr. Hokage is really the one who betrayed the Fire Nation!" one of the employees exclaimed after reading the news.

The workers at the Konoha Newspaper were all enraged. This was clearly an act of betrayal—the battle had been won, yet they had given supplies and money to the enemy as though they were the losers.

After seeing the news, they felt the disgrace of being on the winning side had vanished, replaced by a deep sense of shame, even humiliation.

A woman from Konoha asked angrily, "President, is this true?" Her husband had been a victim of the Battle, and his name was engraved on the monument.

If the news was true, then her husband's sacrifice seemed like a joke.

President Konoha said in a heavy voice, "There is some evidence, but it's best to question them through the weekly magazine. However, if we do this, it's very likely they'll target us, and we could even end up in prison."

"I'm not afraid, President. Just leave this matter to me!" said the female employee whose husband had died on the battlefield recently.

"Me too!" another employee chimed in.

"And me! If Hokage hadn't done this, I wouldn't feel guilty!"

Others in the newsroom stood up, outraged, declaring that they were responsible for reporting such absurdities.

The president of the Konoha newspaper nodded and said, "Alright, everyone. Then hurry up and get to work. Minister-Sama and the daimyo won't forget us!"

"Yes!" the employees responded in unison. They immediately arranged for Konoha's senior management to handle the next issue of Ninja Weekly and notified the printing factory to speed up production.

With the combined efforts of many newspaper employees, the latest issue of Ninja Weekly was quickly released and sold throughout Konoha Village.

At the same time, the magazine was distributed in the capital of the Fire Country and various bustling towns.

Ninja Weekly had expanded to 21 relatively prosperous towns, and the content of each issue could be spread throughout the entire Fire Country.

Now, Ninja Weekly had gone from being published once a week to three times a week, issuing ten issues a month.

In the Land of Fire, and even Konoha Village, many people had developed the habit of reading newspapers.

However, after reading the latest issue of Ninja Weekly, nearly everyone's eyes widened in disbelief as they read the contents.

"How is this possible? How could Lord Third Hokage do such a thing?" A ninja eating meatballs and drinking soup, upon reading the news in the weekly magazine, threw his cup to the ground in frustration, smashing it. "This is slander. They're slandering Lord Hokage!"

"But the photo above, is it fake?" the ninja sitting beside him asked hesitantly. The photos in the magazine were clearly taken, showing the specific amount of supplies, and even the signature of Mitokado Homura. It would be too much if it were fake.

"It must be fake. This is slander against Hokage-sama!"

The one who spoke was a loyal supporter of the Third Hokage. He had followed the Hokage's teachings since his days at ninja school, always supported by the Will of Fire on the battlefield.

He refused to believe that the news in the Ninja Weekly was anything but a lie.

"It's fake! I'm going to smash the newspaper that slandered Lord Hokage now!"

"You're crazy. You'll be thrown in the guardhouse. Let's see how Lord Hokage handles it."

The ninja's companion stopped him, then forcibly pulled him out of the meatball shop. His actions had just scared many people.

Strictly speaking, his behavior was enough to warrant an arrest by the security team. The owner of the meatball shop reported the incident to the security team, and the ninja would soon be taken in.

However, this was just one small incident. It wasn't just common ninjas who bought Ninja Weekly—ninjas from various clans did too. They would buy large quantities and distribute them to their clansmen.

The weekly magazine caused quite a stir in Konoha. After reading it, civilians and ninjas began discussing it heatedly.

In some places, arguments even turned into fights, regardless of whether the people involved were civilians or ninjas.

In just one morning, the security team was dispatched repeatedly. The detention rooms were quickly filled to capacity.

In the end, they were left with no choice but to lock up those who supported the Third Hokage.

The deputy captain of the guard, Uchiha Yatsushiro, took a copy of Ninja Weekly and went directly to the Hokage Building.

Whether or not the Third Hokage was aware of it, something had to be done about the overcrowding in the guardhouse.

While riots broke out in the village, Orochimaru was also reading Ninja Weekly, which had been sent to him by his second student, Mitarashi Anko.

Anko had also asked Orochimaru, very curiously, if the things in the magazine were true or just fake. It was still sent to him for practice, of course.

"As expected of Kain, the power of this weekly magazine is truly something else. Sarutobi sensei must now feel the pain of Senior White Fang. Heh, I almost want to see it," Orochimaru chuckled, putting down the magazine.

He stood up and walked outside. Since Kain wasn't in a position to show himself yet, it seemed like the best choice for Orochimaru to make an appearance.
