Chapter 16: Ch.16 Old Captain America, Infinity War Black Widow
In the vast cosmos, sitting atop a giant web:
[Congratulations, you have received an invitation to the resurrection game!]
[Would you like to participate in the resurrection game?]
[Yes][No]
Looking at the familiar message, Charlie sat up from the web, utterly puzzled.
Seriously? Using a missile to blow up a spider? What kind of rich maniac does that?
After a moment, Charlie finally clicked [Yes].
Since he was already dead, he might as well accept it. His immediate goal was to get stronger through the resurrection game.
Power was the only way to achieve revenge.
[Ding! You are now entering the resurrection game.]
[You have 12 restart opportunities.]
The void swallowed Charlie's body, and in the next moment, he found himself in nighttime New York.
[Scenario: Marvel Crossover Universe]
[Mission 1: Go to the Afghanistan desert and rescue Tony Stark, who has been kidnapped by the Ten Rings.]

[Reward 2: Strength +10 tons]

[Matching complete!]
[Old, Weak, and Disabled Team (Mission 1): Charlie Parker, Steve Rogers, Natasha Romanoff.]
[Villainous Team (Mission 2): Peter Parker, Peter Parker, Norman Osborn.]
[If your team wins, each member will receive a resurrection token x1.]
[Time until the mission starts: 3 minutes]
[Time until the mission ends: 24 hours.]
Suddenly, the scene of Tony's kidnapping began to play out in front of them.
The scorching sun blazed overhead, while the endless desert winds carried the hot sand.
Though the air was hot and the sand scorching, Charlie felt a chill in his heart.
As one of the members of the "Old, Weak, and Disabled Team," he had a bad feeling.
To his left was the alluring Black Widow, whose superpower was delaying aging. To his right was a withered old man with a wrinkled face, white hair, and a gaunt body. He wore a sagging Captain America suit, held a shield, and his eyes were dull and cloudy. His frail figure looked like it might get buried by the swirling desert sands at any moment.
Charlie remained silent.
It really was the "Old, Weak, and Disabled Team."
Compared to the "Villainous Team," with its two Peter Parkers and the terrifying Green Goblin, Charlie's team had no chance of winning.
The idea of rescuing Tony Stark while the other team tried to stop them seemed impossible.
Charlie felt a pang of frustration.
Next to him, old man Steve stared for a moment, then his gaze fell on Natasha, and his wrinkled face twitched.
"Natasha, is that you?"
Natasha was just as confused, her memory still stuck on the planet Vormir.
"Steve?" She frowned, her mind trying to reconcile the frail old man before her with the dashing Captain she remembered.
"It's me. It's amazing to see you again."
"What happened? Did everyone come back?"
"They did, but Thanos followed us. In the end, it was Tony who snapped his fingers. He sacrificed himself."
"What? No, the plan was for Banner to use the gauntlet..."
"Guys, this is the resurrection match. Shouldn't we focus on winning?" Charlie interrupted their conversation. Their team was already weak, and wasting time like this only made it less likely they could save Tony.
He had already figured out that these two were from the Avengers: Endgame timeline.
Hearing his voice, Steve finally noticed Charlie. "Peter, is that you?" He looked surprised.
Charlie's mouth twitched. "I'm not Peter Parker. I'm Charlie, Charlie Parker." He deactivated his nano-metal mask.
"Oh, right. I remember now, Peter isn't on this team." Steve slapped his forehead.
Staring at the young man in front of her, Natasha was also astonished. "Two Peter Parkers on the other team? Incredible."
Steve pondered. "It must be the multiverse. Doctor Strange told me about it."
Charlie's face darkened. "Did you hear what I said? We're in the resurrection match." He interrupted them again.
Steve didn't seem to hear him. Turning back to Natasha, he said, "You didn't come back from that mission. Everyone was heartbroken."
"I know. Barton watched me jump. I felt so sorry for him. It was too cruel."
"It's alright. We're together again now."
"Steve, you've grown old. What happened afterward?"
"After Tony's death, I returned the Infinity Stones to the past. But I chose to stay there, and I lived a life with Peggy Carter. I didn't miss my chance."
"Oh, congratulations. No regrets then?"
"None. I passed the shield to Sam seventy years later and finally retired."
"But it seems like only the dead can enter here."
"Am I dead?"
Steve finally realized. "I just remember feeling really tired that night, and then I lost consciousness. So, I guess I did die."
He didn't seem too fazed by his death, almost as if he had expected it.
Looking down at his suit, Steve covered his face. "It's been a long time since I've worn this uniform."
Natasha teased, "Your muscles have shrunk. I wonder how strong you still are."
Steve raised his shield confidently. "Wanna find out?"
He glanced around. "Charlie Parker, we can get started... wait, where is he?"
Noticing Charlie's absence, Steve blinked. "Did he leave?"
Natasha scanned the area, spotting Charlie sprinting toward the distant valley. She pointed to his receding figure and laughed. "Looks like this Spider-Man couldn't wait."
Steve felt a bit embarrassed. "We did waste too much time."
Natasha shrugged. "It's fine. We're Avengers. We've got to have faith in ourselves." She pulled out her pistol.
"Yeah, it's been a while since I felt this fired up."
Steve stretched, eager for action.
"Even though I don't care about resurrection, if this game is real, I'll make sure you get back."
"Same here."
They exchanged smiles, just as the sky erupted in fire and explosions.
Boom!!
The desert shook with a violent explosion. Seeing the blast consume Steve and Natasha, Charlie sighed in resignation.
The "Villainous Team" had made their move, using the Ten Rings' missiles to obliterate the area.
With both his teammates dead, he was the last one standing.
As expected, this was going to end in total defeat.
Unable to web-swing on the soft dunes, Charlie's running speed was still decent.
As he neared the valley, a familiar figure suddenly leaped from the sand dune.
Boom!!
With a heavy thud, sand flew everywhere as the menacing figure of the Lizardman emerged from the swirling dust.
"Charlie Parker, we meet again."
