Chapter 56: Chapter 56: Emma's true ability?
The information that Emma and Ancient One shared was enough for any of them to spend days digesting it, and some probably months to accept it, as that would completely change their reality.
At least, it wouldn't be like in some timeline where Charles learned that they are, in fact, just some kind of comic characters and snapped.
Saying that she was some kind of bug and that their timeline didn't have a definite future unless it was fixed reassured them a little.
Now, they truly understood how shocking their world is. The future would probably never be calm and would be full of trouble.
Emma appreciated their apprehension and thoughtful faces. She wanted them to have that sense of urgency; only then would they understand how precious her plan was.
She said: "Now that you have seen how dangerous our world is, how humanity seems so weak and needs to learn how to defend itself because we don't have a Superman to save the day here."
"There would be too many battles on Earth, too many casualties, and, in fact, there are countless parallel worlds in which the Earth was simply destroyed."
"My plan is nothing that grandiose but a little simple," she paused, smiling, and continued: "It's to give the Earthlings the abilities to protect themselves."
"Give the Earthlings the ability to protect themselves?" Kitty asked, not truly understanding what Emma meant. Was it building some kind of weapons or what?
Kitty's question voiced their doubt because if it was really about creating some kind of weapons, things might become complicated.
Be it Charles, Hank Pym, or Banner, they weren't keen on building some kind of weapons for someone. If it was under their jurisdiction, sure, they would definitely accept.
But it would probably not be the case. Who knows what kind of person would hold that so-called weapon that could protect the Earth from future menace? Probably some kind of planet-destructing weapon?
Although Emma knew these people were overthinkers, she didn't know that they had reached such far-fetched conclusions.
No, she wasn't seeing what they had in their heads but continued explaining: "Although what I plan may completely change Earth's structure forever, it doesn't primarily have any danger apart from big consequences."
Well, Emma only continued deepening their misunderstanding. She started sounding like a politician to those old men.
Fortunately, she was a little clearer in her next sentence. She said: "I want to create a second world."
"Pardon?" Her sentence caught Hank Pym off guard as he was thinking about how to reject her politely while considering convincing her to help save his wife. Since they could manipulate dimensions, they must have their own ideas about the Quantum Realm.
Emma just thought he was shocked by her term "creating a new world" and explained: "I want to create some kind of Parallel World with your help, and then through my power, the humans in this world can gain abilities to protect themselves from the next."
Thanks to the misunderstanding being cleared, Charles thought he didn't misjudge her. How could Emma be that kind of person? He shamelessly ignored his inner thoughts from a minute ago.
Then he realized something serious about what Emma said—giving people abilities to protect themselves through her power?
He said: "I don't understand, Emma. What does your ability have to do with this? Aren't you an energy manipulator, or can you pass your energy to others?"
Energy manipulation—that was the conclusion they came to about Emma's power, allowing her to control some kind of energy that could heal and enhance someone. It might be able to do more things in the future as an Omega, but for now, that's it.
"Energy manipulation?" Emma smiled like a certain firefighter and said: "This can be considered my ability, though not detailed enough."
"My ability is what makes me different from the rest of the Omega-level mutants now or in the future. It's what makes me a bug and what can allow us to change our destiny."
In fact, even the Ancient One wanted to know what Emma's true ability was. She didn't believe it was simply chakra manipulation, like the other party said, but something more.
Emma had also thought about this: what should she say is her true ability? Energy manipulation wasn't an excuse that would go far, especially when she was able to do more things like taking items that didn't exist in this universe.
Sure, she didn't need to justify herself as she didn't truly have someone dear to her now, but what about the future?
She said: "I have two abilities, one which kind of strengthens my stuff and the other which is some kind of summoning."
She looked at the Ancient One while saying this. By now, the latter would probably judge her as a shameless liar. But no way—no second person would know about her system, at least not someone she didn't trust 100%.
She sighed: "I wouldn't tell you how it works, as that is my biggest secret, and I think I have the right to keep it as it is. Now, let me explain another aspect of my summoning ability."
"I can summon things from another world. When I say another world, I don't mean a parallel world or anything but a whole new world that has nothing to do with us, where even our physical rules aren't the same."
"When I passed out and my life was in dire situation, I summoned the soul from some kind of medical magician and absorbed it, which practically gave me all my current abilities."
This is the only thing that Emma is ready to share. Now, whether they believe it or not, whether they have some doubts or not, she doesn't care.
Sure enough, hearing about Emma's ability was truly baffling and terrifying. Summoning the soul of an otherworldly magician and absorbing it? No wonder she's a bug.
If she can summon the soul of someone more powerful, doesn't this mean she's instantly invincible?
After bluffing them with a mix of half-truths and half-lies, Emma said, "Apart from this, I summoned a soul from another person, and he taught me a technique, one that anyone with enough willpower can learn and, with sufficient training, could reach the limits of human potential.
"This is my plan: to allow humanity to evolve at a controlled rate, neither too fast nor too slow, to minimize casualties while ensuring we can defend ourselves.
"I want to share this ability in the form of a virtual reality game. This would generate enough funds for future projects, provide people with a space to vent their emotions safely, and offer a place where one can train."
Having shared her grand plan, Emma watched their reactions. Kitty was, as usual, the first to respond and asked incredulously, "So, if I understand correctly, you want us to help you create a virtual reality game?"
This seemed absurd. They had been imagining some world-breaking invention, but here it was, just a plan to create a virtual reality game.
