Marvel: President Stark

Chapter 70: Chapter 70 - Winning Big! II

Shhhh~

The speakers in the studio and across the world's many devices hissed at the same time. Then, the lazy voice came.

"...Listen, I don't care what anyone thinks—that's an order, plain and simple. This is our last, best chance to take Stark out. We've got the suit's signature, so lock on and fire. And don't tell me we need the President's sign-off; this is national security. Everyone wants this done, and you're the one with the command. So make it happen!"

Shhhh~

"That was Senator Stern, if anyone missed that." The recording ended, and Tony played a video of the Battle where he was flying towards the hole in the sky. "I wasn't leading that nuke—I was flying away from it, luring it behind me into the portal. It was locked onto me from the start, and if I hadn't made a break for it, well… I'd be cosmic dust. I had to swap my suit in the vacuum of space—five seconds was all I had or I would have died in deep space.

"So, yeah, it's not just aliens we're dealing with; it's a two-front war—enemies outside and a few surprises inside."

The two hosts and the crew in the studio froze for a short moment. Not because of what they heard, but what they were seeing on the screens. It was the never-before-released video footage of Tony swapping his suit in the darkness of space. But what followed was another horrifying detail—the insanely massive mothership of the aliens and countless other spacecraft as well as Leviathans.

"Oh yes, that—That's what we were dealing with that day. That's what the Avengers were fighting to protect our pretty little blue planet against, while our own people plotted to kill us with nukes. And let me tell you, that's not even their main force," Tony dropped the biggest revelation. "That was just a small part of the main army. Think of it as—Russia invading Monaco, would they send their entire military might to fight there?"

"A-Are we prepared to deal with this?" Christine asked, her voice shaking. At the end of the day, she was also a simple human being. In front of the unknown and dangerous, she was as helpless as anyone else.

"Right now? Not at all, not with our guys trying to sabotage us." Tony took a jibe at the hidden interest groups. "Earth needs to come together. America needs to get serious with its tech and focus on building ourselves stronger. Now, our enemies in space know that we're here and that we aren't some primitive Stone Age civilization. Now, when they come again, they will expect our reaction—We're in a race against time.

"Me, you, the President, the Prime Ministers, the Pope—We're all just tiny humans for them to subjugate, kill, or enslave—Space is uncharted territory, and we're all stuck at building paper boats while they got planet-destroying ships."

Yes, Tony was scaring the hell out of the world. He didn't want to, but he realized he needed to. Having faced friendly fire from that nuke, he was no longer in the mood to joke around. He wanted to get rid of all the enemies inside his home turf.

The two hosts drank a whole glass of water to calm their nerves.

"Do you have a plan?" Asked the guy.

Tony nodded firmly. "Ever since I announced my bid, I've come across seriously remarkable folks from across the world, and especially within America. These people have minds that are inhumanly sharp and intelligent. Some of these people are gifted with abilities that can shape the world—You saw Magneto playing the hero, Storm giving Mother Nature a run for her money, and Jean flipping things around with her mind.

"There are so many incredible talents out there, and I feel like, it's time they stop living in obscurity, in hiding, scared of being called freaks—There are no freaks, they're the future saviors of this world, the defenders of humanity, and the spearheads that will make us a space-faring civilization—the next and possibly, the final stage in the story of humanity."

Killing two birds with one stone. Revealing the hidden enemies, and also uplifting the status of Mutants to gifted heroes with superpowers. He didn't see the need to talk about the genes since they were all humans, and that was all that mattered.

From there, Tony started to bring confidence to the people who were watching. It was a game of words by first scaring the life out of the world and then handing them a small branch called hope. He understood that the only way to integrate the Mutants with the rest of the world was by leaving them no other choice but to accept them in desperate need.

For two hours, Tony spoke about his plans and some other stories. Declared his desire to someday travel with Thor and visit Asgard. However, it was less about diplomacy and more about his desire to see pretty alien women.

Once the interview ended, the first thing he did was take out his phone and send a text to one Emma Frost. He hadn't met her yet, only heard about her.

Thank you for the audio tape. He typed and sent.

After that, he went out with Darcy for dinner and then finished the day with some bedroom activity with her at the Stark Tower. Oh, how he loved her fine, large assets with all his heart.

Time passed, and September started. Many things happened, such as the arrest of Senator Stern, and then his 'suicide' inside the prison cell.

Tony's approval rating didn't drop, and it started to seem as if he was the only candidate running for President that year. Matthew Ellis and Edward Nomm didn't dare to appear in front of the media, scared of being asked questions about their questionable past.

And amidst all that, Tony finally got to have his date with the tall and slender beauty, Maria Hill. But instead of making the same mistake of taking her to a restaurant, he had something more exciting and new in mind. A place to drink where nobody could disturb them.

"Jarvis, disable the security cameras," Tony gave the orders.

"Why? Where are we going?" Maria asked, currently hugging Tony's metal chest as they flew in the sky. Her attire, a simple pair of tight jeans, a t-shirt, and a leather jacket. She wore no makeup and yet looked fantastic.

"Statue of Liberty."

"What?"

Woosh!

Tony flew faster and left her speechless.

In just a few more minutes, he arrived at the island. He placed Maria down and landed softly himself at the top of the Statue's flame base. He made his own suit hover a bit further away in the dark night, giving them a decent enough space to stand on and relax. The temperature was neither high nor low that night, but still a bit on the chillier side.

Maria looked around at the view from that height, the city appearing majestic in the distance. This was her first time standing at the torch, same for Tony.

Tony grabbed a small box placed there by an Iron Guardian before and took out beer bottles. He handed her one and leaned on the guard railing beside her. "As you asked—only drinks tonight."

Maria smiled and took it before gazing at the night skyline again. She breathed out deeply, audibly, "I needed this after you increased my workload so much."

"I did? When?"

"When you showed the world an alien mothership and scared the life out of everyone," Maria replied and chuckled. "Fury's face was worth noting when he saw your interview. He cursed you first, and then the Council."

Tony had his Iron Man suit operate on its own, hovering around them and making him and Maria shots of vodka next. The two just talked and gave each other company, shoulder to shoulder, slowly letting the boundaries between them loosen.

"Growing your hair out?" Tony stared at her face, she looked less stoic and strict than before. "Looks good on you."

Maria smirked, letting a scoff slip. "What, hoping to find Natasha's shadow? Sorry, no red hair or plump melons here."

Tony chuckled and placed an arm around behind her back, circling her slender waist over the jacket. "Melons? Sorry, but I like the tall, juicy sugarcanes; more—sweeter."

"Hah!" Maria laughed openly, letting the drinks play their game, and also feeling free at the top of that statue. Nobody was watching her, just the man beside her. "Did you just call me flat?"

"What? No, you're not flat—I mean, I like what I'm feeling… Ugh…" Tony realized the drinks had made his tongue slippery too.

"You think you're a great player, smooth talker, but you're not, Anthony Edward Stark." Maria turned towards him all of a sudden, her height the same as Tony's so she stepped closer to him, her face nearing his while both her hands rested on his shoulders. "It's that brain of yours that makes their knees weak—the supergenius title that does the charm… not that tongue of yours so… make better use of it."
