Chapter 124: Herb Garden and Threat
Being brought back to his room, Liam kept the dimensional energy he had felt in the throne room in the back of his mind.
'I'll check it out tonight,' Liam thought, nodding to Taye, who closed the door of his room behind him. 'I'll just open a portal outside the Royal Palace which holds the throne room and go in with Incursio's invisibility.'
'Right now, the throne room is still filled with people,' Liam thought, recalling what he had done. He had killed the Hellish Fiend and the Duskfang, after retrieving it from Incursio's dimension, and left them as gifts for Wakanda to begin researching on.
The Duskfang had given them quite the shock, as it wasn't visible to the naked eye until Liam stabbed a spear construct through its head, killing it. After it died, the energy running through its body stopped reflecting light, making it appear in front of all the people present.
'Watching flying chains turn into a 14-foot-tall, grey wolf left quite the impression on their faces,' Liam thought, smiling.
In the time he had left until nightfall, Liam began writing down the progress he had made in creating the organization and planning the next steps.
'Wakanda has agreed to send warriors and scientists,' Liam thought. 'With the Ancient One allowing Master Drumm and Wong to teach the people joining my organization, they will each have separate tasks for training these warriors and scientists.'
Liam planned for Master Drumm, a librarian, to continue performing his basic duties—advising on which new spells and teachings sorcerers needed—while also working directly with the scientists. That way, they could ask questions, and he could either assign them the right books or give answers himself.
'As for the warriors, Wong will take care of them and teach them,' Liam thought, tapping his pen on the table. 'After learning the basics, Wong will handle their combat training personally and make them used to magic combat.'
For the basics, Liam would also try to teach the scientists. In general, he needed to test and see how talented the people from Wakanda actually were. While anyone with an open mind could learn the basics, actually having the potential to reach higher levels depended on many other factors.
'If there are highly talented sorcerers among the scientists, I'll see if any can be convinced to become full-fledged sorcerers,' Liam thought. 'And for the warriors who lack talent, we'll need to see if we can group them up and have them handle the low-tier tears.'
As time passed, Liam stopped working on plans for his organization and switched back to training. As planned, he spent a significant amount of time improving the float extension for his constructs.
Eventually, he wanted to be able to float hundreds of constructs at the same time. With that, he could easily wipe out the low-level armies supporting high-ranking creatures.
'Hundreds at the same time is still really far off, though,' Liam thought, floating twelve yellow sword constructs around him. 'But at the same time, it hasn't been that long since I started focusing on training this spell.'
More time passed while Liam trained, and slowly, the streets got quiet as the night set in. Liam stopped his training and looked outside—the sky had turned dark, and the streets were now empty, most civilians safely asleep in their homes.
Standing up, Liam summoned Incursio around him. A warm sensation spread over his body as the armor covered him completely. The warmth was comforting, making Liam feel relaxed and almost reluctant to ever take it off.
Focusing again, Liam summoned a portal in front of him, leading to a spot just outside the Royal Palace. Stepping through, he used his energy to activate the invisibility Incursio had unlocked from the Umbral Dimension.
'I have to be careful and fast,' Liam thought, serious. 'I'm not sure if their infrared sensors can detect this invisibility mode, so I'll need to do my best to evade them.'
He approached one of the main doors, guarded by a couple of Dora Milaje members. These doors led into the building, which would eventually take him to the throne room. Hearing no alarms yet, Liam continued on his way, waiting for the guards to switch shifts.
Although he hadn't had much time to study it, he had seen the guards change posts a few times, which meant he could slip in behind them without triggering any mechanisms in the doors.
A few minutes passed, and, luckily for Liam, the doors behind the guards opened as the clock hit 4 AM. New guards walked through to replace the on-duty ones for the next few hours.
Liam quickly dashed through the open doors, following the off-duty guards as they entered the building. Once inside, he swiftly split away from them and headed towards the throne room.
After running through the building at rapid speeds, Liam finally reached the throne room. Even standing outside, his cells could feel the very faint trace of the dimensional energy he had sensed earlier that day.
Two Dora Milaje warriors stood guard outside the throne room. From where he was, Liam could still see some of the Hellish Fiend's rocks and the entire Duskfang corpse. Though it wasn't planned, he was sure some of the detection devices in the room had been turned off because of them.
He slowly walked through the throne room, carefully avoiding any still-active devices as he followed after the trace of the dimensional energy.
Standing behind the throne, Liam found a thicker energy trail leading past a large vibranium floor, deep underground.
'If I'm correct, this leads to the royal family's herb garden for the Heart-Shaped Herbs,' Liam thought, recalling the Black Panther movie.
As he stood there, he noticed the dimensional energy around him beginning to move. As the energy started moving, the floor in front of him started to move, sliding to the side to reveal a small stone staircase going down underground.
Chills ran down Liam's spine as he realized what was happening. 'Whatever it is, it must be strong,' he thought, serious. 'It was scanning me two days ago to check if I was a threat, but now it's inviting me in.'
