Chapter 44: Chapter 44 : Host's Power Exposed

---

Berlin, Germany

Outside the door.

"Finn? I know you're home. I heard footsteps."

Agatha narrowed her eyes, glancing down at the shadow visible in the crack beneath the door.

Someone was standing there—it was obvious. But she hesitated, fingers of her left hand curling slightly behind her back as a black magical sphere formed in her palm.

She knocked again with her free hand. "Finn? Are you sure you don't want to open the door?"

The story wasn't over yet.

Boom!

The door blurred for a split second. Then—like a predator striking in the dark—a black shadow burst through the heavy iron door at an inhuman speed, lunging straight for Agatha!

It moved so fast that it was impossible to react.

Before she could even raise her defenses, the shadow slammed into her body. A black aura erupted, engulfing her in an instant.

And just like that—she vanished from the hallway.

A young service boy passing by at the end of the corridor paused, glancing around at the sudden noise. He frowned, taking a few steps forward—only to find the hallway eerily empty.

After a brief moment of hesitation, he turned around and walked away.

---

Over Berlin Park

The deep blue sky shifted.

A black vortex swirled open above the city, dark and ominous.

"Look! What the hell is that?!"

"Jesus Christ, is that a black hole?! It looks like the alien portal from the Battle of New York!"

"Aliens again?!"

Panic rippled through the park as people tilted their heads upward, staring in fear. Those who had seen something similar before instinctively took a step back.

Armed police officers patrolling the area rushed forward, weapons raised, eyes locked onto the vortex.

Meanwhile, some reckless civilians ignored the danger, holding up their phones to record.

Boom!

The vortex suddenly spun faster—then, like a meteor, a figure in medieval-style robes shot down from the sky!

The force of the descent created a cyclone around them. The figure smashed into the flower beds with earth-shaking impact.

The ground trembled.

Stone tiles cracked and flew into the air.

A deep crater formed, tearing through the park's landscape.

Dust and debris exploded outward, sending terrified civilians stumbling backward.

"My God..."

"What the hell is that?!"

"Is it a meteorite?!"

Even before the patrolling officers could call for backup—

Another black shadow descended from the vortex, diving like a bird of prey.

BOOM!

The impact was deafening—like an anti-aircraft missile hitting its mark. A thick cloud of dust shot into the sky, obscuring everything.

Inside the haze, a masked figure emerged, crouched over the fallen woman, fingers tightening around her throat.

"Cough… cough…"

Agatha gasped for air, pain rippling through her body. The black runes of protection on her skin flickered with a faint white light.

Dazed, she forced her eyes open, looking up at the man looming over her.

"You really—"

"DON'T TALK! SHUT UP!"

Finn didn't let her finish.

With a swift motion, he raised her off the ground—then slammed her back down with monstrous strength.

The force of impact was inhuman.

BOOM!

The earth beneath them cracked. The sheer momentum caused chunks of rock to shoot upward, surrounding them in a circle of jagged stone.

Agatha coughed violently, blood trickling from the corner of her mouth. The second blow had snapped her out of her daze.

What the hell was happening?!

Ten seconds ago, she was just knocking on a damn hotel door.

Now, she'd been thrown across a city, falling from the sky, and was getting manhandled by a lunatic.

"The defense hasn't broken yet?"

Finn narrowed his eyes.

She was one of the oldest magicians on Earth—but even he was impressed. To withstand that level of impact without shattering completely?

"Y-you—"

Agatha's black aura flared, energy crackling in her palm.

"DON'T TALK!"

Finn flung her again before she could retaliate.

Her body blurred through the air as an invisible force exploded outward, distorting the atmosphere around her.

Agatha soared across the landscape, crashing straight into a nearby forest—the impact sending dust and shattered trees flying.

Finn exhaled.

The system had warned him about exposure. The rule was simple: as long as no one knew who he was, he was safe.

So, logically—if he beat the shit out of Agatha before she could talk…

It wouldn't count as exposure, right?

But then—

[WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!]

[One person has learned of the host's power. You have 30 minutes to erase their memory, or the hidden mission will fail!]

Finn's jaw ticked.

"Thirty-minute limit..."

So he'd been wrong.

Just existing in front of someone was enough for the system to consider it exposure.

But, luckily, it was only Agatha who knew.

Boom…

"Finn..."

A voice called out from the obliterated treeline.

Agatha staggered back into view, her once-gentle demeanor completely gone.

Her face twisted in fury. Black magic seeped from her pores, warping the air around her.

The grass beneath her feet withered into dust.

"You really underestimated me."

Finn cracked his neck, rolling his shoulders. "Funny. I was about to say the same thing."

She was old—centuries old—but what had age done for her?

A true genius wouldn't have wasted so much time chasing after Chaos magic.

"Shut up!"

Agatha screeched, her black aura erupting.

Above them—

The sky shifted.

A black line spread across the horizon, swallowing the clouds. The once-clear skies became an ocean of darkness.

The air thickened.

Winds howled.

A sense of inevitable doom descended upon Berlin.

Finn exhaled. "Ah, so we're jumping straight to the 'I summon a giant demon' part, huh?"

Agatha's eyes burned with darkness.

"You should've stayed out of my way, Finn."

She raised her arms, sending tendrils of black energy into the sky.

BOOM!

Thunder crackled—

And from the swirling storm, a shape emerged.

A colossal black dragon.

It loomed over the city, its eyes glowing like embers, its jaws parting to unleash hell.

The second it appeared, the world froze.

Civilians screamed.

Terror spread like wildfire.

Because in Western mythology—dragons were always a symbol of destruction.

This one?

It was looking down at them as if deciding which part of the city to devour first.

"The old witch really went all out…"

Finn's eyes sharpened.

The black dragon roared, spreading its massive wings—

And then, without hesitation—

It dove.

Its jaws opened wide, aiming to devour everything in its path.

Finn took a breath.

"Alright then."

"Let's see if you can keep up."
