Chapter 272: Chapter 272
Munakata's words were filled with frustration. He had ways to counter monsters and aliens, but against ghosts—intangible entities that couldn't be fought with conventional weapons—he had no idea what to do.
"What should we do now? There are still many people in danger. We have to find a way to save them!"
Shinjou couldn't help but exclaim anxiously.
"But with our strength alone, it's impossible."
Nozomi reminded them.
In this situation, dampening morale was unwise, but facts were facts—they had no means to deal with ghosts.
"What if we follow that knight?"
At this moment, Horii suggested.
"That knight hasn't explicitly declared he is on our side, but at least he is fighting those ghosts. We can follow him and find the others."
Hearing Horii's words, the others fell into contemplation.
Relying blindly on an unknown entity was undoubtedly a bad idea for humanity, but right now, they seemed to have no other choice.
"We can only do that for now. Everyone, stay alert and take things one step at a time."
Munakata made a decisive call and led the group to follow the Crimson Knightmon.
Meanwhile, Daigo had already arrived at the location where Crimson Knightmon had mentioned the strongest malicious energy waves were emanating from.
Surprisingly, it was the place where the victims affected by the Wendigo skull were being held!
Daigo remembered that there were thousands of people locked up here. If something happened to all of them...
He dared not imagine the consequences.
Quickening his pace, Daigo entered the corridor and found that all the holding cells' doors had been opened.
Inside, every detainee was dead. Their faces were frozen in horrific expressions, as if they had witnessed something beyond terrifying.
"Too late! Damn it!"
Seeing this, Daigo couldn't help but feel anger welling up inside him. He took a deep breath and continued cautiously forward.
One hand held his handgun, while the other clutched his Spark Lens, ready to transform at any moment if the situation went awry.
His actions were being watched by others from across different universes.
Suneo: "This is so nerve-wracking... it feels like playing a horror game."
Rhodey: "Seriously, I don't think I can keep watching. My closet might start moving any second now!"
Tony Stark: "Rhodey, you're a general! How can you be such a coward?"
Rhodey: "Shut up! Fear is fear!"
Dan Moroboshi: "Daigo, be extra careful. If anything seems off, transform immediately."
Ancient One: "That Kayako has already killed so many people. I wonder if that has further enhanced her power."
Krillin: "But no matter how much stronger she gets, she can't possibly stand against an Ultra Warrior, right?"
Ancient One: "That's not necessarily the case. Kayako's abilities are extremely bizarre. We must be cautious."
Nobita: "Hey, can you guys flood the chat with more messages? That would make me feel a bit safer."
Chopper: "I think so too! Let's just keep talking!"
Loki: "You cowards, don't block the screen!"
Daigo ignored the conversation on the screen, focusing on advancing forward.
BOOM!!!
A powerful explosion suddenly erupted ahead.
Hearing this, Daigo quickened his pace and ran towards the source.
After covering some distance, he arrived at a large laboratory where several researchers were swaying in place.
Among them was Reiko Bakumura, the scientist responsible for researching Victory Team's equipment.
Reiko's eyes were dull, her body rocking back and forth, looking extremely strange.
"Excuse me, are you all alright?"
Seeing that they appeared unharmed, Daigo asked cautiously.
However, they completely ignored him, continuing their eerie swaying.
"Are you okay?"
Finding this odd, Daigo raised his voice.
At that moment, the researchers finally reacted, turning simultaneously to stare directly at him.
Was it just his imagination? Their eyes seemed devoid of pupils.
"Ahhh..."
Reiko suddenly let out a terrified gasp, stepping back in fear.
Not only her—the other researchers did the same.
"Ahhhhhhh!!!"
Then, Reiko let out an ear-piercing scream, something beyond human capability.
It was like nails scraping against metal—so sharp and grating that Daigo was forced to cover his ears and step back.
The next second, countless ghosts emerged from the laboratory walls.
They glared menacingly at Daigo and slowly approached him, their expressions ravenous as if ready to devour him.
Seeing this, Daigo immediately raised his Spark Lens, prepared to transform.
However, just as he was about to do so, he noticed something strange—the ghosts, upon getting closer to him, suddenly displayed expressions of terror.
Instead of attacking, they all took a few steps back, as if they had just seen something far more terrifying than themselves.
"Eh?"
Daigo was utterly confused.
Diana: "What's going on? Why do the ghosts look scared of Daigo?"
Dan Moroboshi: "Could it be... that they can see Daigo's true identity?"
Nick Fury: "What does that mean?"
Dan Moroboshi: "In my universe, many aliens can see through my and Gen's true identities. Some even have the ability to see things humans cannot—what is commonly called 'spirit vision.' It allows them to perceive differences between us and ordinary humans."
Gen: "Captain, are you saying that those ghosts recognized Daigo as Ultraman Tiga and were frightened?"
Tony Stark: "Would just seeing another identity be enough to scare them?"
Dan Moroboshi: "That's my guess. Our Ultra Warriors' bodies are composed of light particles. If Tiga is the same, then in the eyes of those ghosts, they are looking at an incredibly radiant source of light. And light is their natural nemesis."
Sisiphus: "I see. So, you Ultra Warriors are quite interesting."
Hasgat: "A body composed of light particles… what exactly does that mean?"
Dan Moroboshi: "The scientific gap is too vast to explain it properly."
At this moment, Daigo realized that these ghosts weren't necessarily afraid of him—but rather, they feared his other self.
So, he decided to test his theory by boldly stepping toward them.
The moment he approached, the ghosts instinctively scattered, their faces filled with fear as they silently backed away, parting to form a path for him. They dared not get any closer.
With no resistance, Daigo safely made his way through the ghostly horde.
"Get away from me!"
At that moment, Juujima Megumi's furious shout echoed from ahead.
Daigo's expression changed.
"Captain!"
Juujima Megumi was in a laboratory, her face pale with terror as she stared ahead.
Signs of an explosion were visible around her—scorched walls, smoke rising, and even small fires burning in some areas.
However, as a woman crawled out of the flames, the fire immediately extinguished itself.
That woman was none other than Kayako!
