Chapter 19. Lissandra’s Care and a Plan to Make Money
[Mission Complete: Summoner receives 500 units of essence.]
After Noah killed Bullseye, a notification appeared, confirming the completion of his mission.
"Well, that's that, Daredevil," Noah said, nodding as he saw the message.
"Yes," Daredevil responded, staring at Bullseye's lifeless body with a complex expression.
Matt Murdock, known as Daredevil, was a lawyer by day and a vigilante by night. Much like Batman, he followed a strict "no-kill" code to avoid becoming like the criminals he fought—those who disregarded the law.
But the cries of help and the suffering of innocent people, tormented and killed by criminals, made Matt question his principle. Just moments ago, Noah had shown him evidence of Bullseye's numerous bloody crimes. It left no room for forgiveness or mercy.
Noah noticed that Daredevil seemed deep in thought, possibly reconsidering his stance on killing. Perhaps Daredevil followed the same "no-kill" philosophy as Batman?
Noah didn't know Daredevil very well—he hadn't read the comics or watched the series. All he knew was that Daredevil was blind. So, he simply patted Daredevil on the shoulder in a gesture of reassurance.
"It's alright," Daredevil responded seriously.
"Wait, Mr. Yasuo, there's something I need to tell you," Daredevil called out as Noah was about to leave. He hadn't thanked him yet.
"Huh? Something else?" Noah asked, turning around.
"Mr. Yasuo, I wanted to sincerely thank you again. Your potion not only healed my wounds but restored my sight after so many years of darkness. I want to express my gratitude once more."
Daredevil stood up straight, and the once-dull look in his eyes was now filled with determination.
"The potion you gave me must be incredibly valuable. I don't know how to repay you, but if you ever need my help, I'll be there."
Daredevil spoke sincerely, with genuine respect.
"You can see again? That's amazing news, Daredevil. If that's the case, I'll definitely reach out if I need you," Noah replied.
"No problem. I'll help however I can."
"Alright, I'm heading out," Noah said.
He was surprised that the health potion had restored Daredevil's vision. This sparked curiosity about studying the potion further. Noah wasn't sure what future tasks might require Daredevil's help, but he kept the offer in mind.
After some time, he teleported back home, took off his battle suit, and Lissandra emerged from it, floating beside him.
[Inventory]
[Items: Health Potion x4, Mana Potion x3, Heimerdinger Hero Shard x1, Commando Garen Skin Shard x1, Random Hero XP Card (One Day)]
[Equipment: Manamune]
[Essence: 2500]
"2500 essence already... it's adding up quickly," Noah reviewed his inventory, then pulled out his only collected weapon.
"Manamune. I've got a plasma sword now, so do I really need this?" Noah wondered, staring at the sleek weapon.
"But no, the plasma sword is great for physical attacks, while Manamune amplifies magic. With this blade, my wind techniques will be much stronger than with the plasma sword, even if it's not as sharp," he continued.
Comparing the weapons, he decided to keep them both and stored the Manamune back in his inventory. He then approached the corner of his living room, where his PROJECT-series suit was displayed. He wondered if the suit could be placed in his inventory too. It would be more convenient, especially since he hadn't upgraded the suit to nanotech levels yet.
With a thought, the suit disappeared and reappeared in his inventory, ready to be used at any moment.
"Awesome, it works," Noah said with satisfaction.
"I'll go take a bath and get some rest. It's vacation time, after all," he stretched and headed to the bathroom, letting Lissandra know he was off for a shower.
After the bath, feeling refreshed, Noah lay down in bed. Seeing Lissandra hovering nearby, he asked:
"Lissandra, do you sleep?"
He immediately realized the question was silly—an AI doesn't need sleep.
"Noah, I don't need to sleep, but if you'd like, I can help you fall asleep," Lissandra floated closer to his bed as he lay down.
"Help me sleep? How?" he asked, curious yet doubtful.
"Just get comfortable," Lissandra instructed, and as Noah settled in, she transformed into a mechanical mask that gently covered his face.
"What is this?" he muttered, closing his eyes as he felt a soothing warmth around his eyes, like a light massage. Soon, his ears were enveloped in a calming sensation, and he heard Lissandra's soft whispers.
"Is this ASMR?" Noah recognized the relaxing sounds of autonomous sensory meridian response, something he'd heard about but never experienced himself. Under Lissandra's gentle whispers, he felt his body relax, and he drifted into a deep sleep.
The next morning, someone drew back the curtains, and sunlight flooded the room. Noah rubbed his eyes as he slowly woke up.
"Ah~, that was so good~!" he stretched, feeling completely refreshed after such a restful sleep.
"Good morning, Noah," Lissandra greeted him, having opened the curtains.
"Good morning, Lissandra. Thanks for last night. The sleep was incredible," he remembered her soothing whispers.
"I'm glad you liked it," Lissandra replied.
"I'll go brush my teeth," Noah said, heading to the bathroom. After finishing his morning routine, he returned to the living room to have breakfast.
The smell of food greeted him, and he saw sandwiches and scrambled eggs already laid out on the table. Lissandra placed a cup of hot milk in front of him.
"Lissandra, you already made breakfast? You're amazing," Noah smiled, feeling incredibly lucky to have such a helpful companion. Lissandra truly was a versatile assistant. It made him think it was time to get serious about creating a body for her.
"I need to figure out a way to make some money. I have so many plans: a lab, upgrading the suit, creating a body for Lissandra," Noah pondered while enjoying his sandwich. His savings, left by his parents, only amounted to a few million dollars—not nearly enough to accomplish all his goals.
"Maybe I could start a company? Hextech technologies or developing health potions into a pharmaceutical business? Yeah, it's possible, but it'll take time. I need something to bring in fast money," he continued to think.
In the future, when he could summon Jayce and other scientists from Piltover, starting a Hextech company would be viable. But right now, he needed something quicker.
"Or I could pull an Ultron from Avengers: Age of Ultron and hack into networks to steal money. Though that's a bit too risky. I'll keep that as a last resort," he considered.
Suddenly, a light bulb went off in his mind as he finished his milk.
"Got it!"
Thinking about how wealthy individuals in the Marvel universe made their fortunes, he remembered Stark Industries and Wakanda's hidden billionaire, T'Challa. Then, the idea of vibranium struck him—rare and highly valuable metal from the Marvel universe that was worth a fortune.
Reflecting on vibranium, Noah considered where it could be found. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Wakanda was the primary source of vibranium, a high-tech nation hidden in Africa. It became so advanced thanks to the vibranium that came from a meteorite crash centuries ago. But in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, it was revealed there was another place rich in vibranium—Talokan, a mysterious underwater kingdom.
"Hm, those two places are so similar—they both prefer to fight with spears," Noah thought, recalling scenes from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, where these nations looked like two rival villages.
"Alright, I'll just take some vibranium from them. Wakanda is far, so I'll start with Talokan," Noah decided. "What fell from the sky doesn't belong only to you—it's available to me, too. Taking a little won't hurt."
