Chapter 24: New Orleans (+18)

The scene shifts to Niklaus sitting in a bar in New Orleans, his thoughts drifting to how he hadn't spent a single day in this new life just relaxing.

His mood darkens as he notices a group of men staring at him from a distance.

'Bloodsuckers,' he mutters in his minds with a hint of sarcasm. 'As if I needed more supernatural drama in my life.'

During his time as a hero, he'd dispatched a few vampires by decapitation or heat vision.

He hadn't come across witches and had no intention of dealing with their nonsense.

Deciding it's time to leave and have some fun, he had noticed the bartender giving him those unmistakable "fuck me" eyes.

Given his older and more hotter appearance in this makeshift form, it wasn't surprising.

She had been glancing his way all night, her gaze lingering just a bit too long.

Every time their eyes met, she flashed him a subtle smile, one that was more than just friendly.

It was filled with suggestion, her eyes practically daring him to make a move.

Finally, Niklaus decided to engage.

He leaned forward, resting his elbow on the counter and giving her an easy smile.

"You've been looking at me like that for a while now," he said, his tone playful yet confident. "I'm starting to wonder if you're waiting for me to say something."

She smirked, not missing a beat as she wiped down the bar in front of him.

"Maybe I am," she teased, her voice soft but dripping with intention. "Or maybe I'm just bored."

Niklaus chuckled, enjoying the flirtation. "Well, if boredom's your problem, I think I might be able to help with that."

He tilted his head slightly, eyes locking with hers. "Why don't you take a seat? Your shift's almost over, isn't it?"

She glanced at the clock behind her and nodded, her lips curving into a sly smile. "You've got a good eye. Just a few more minutes."

They exchanged a few more lines of banter, their words light but thick with flirtation.

As the last few patrons trickled out, leaving only a couple of vampires still loitering around—watching Niklaus—she finished wiping down the bar and tossed her towel aside as another joined her place.

"Alright," she said, stepping out from behind the counter and taking a seat next to him, "I'm officially off the clock."

Niklaus smiled, leaning in slightly as their conversation continued. It felt natural, easy.

They talked about everything and nothing—her job, his reason for being in New Orleans.

Their hands brushed every so often, each touch a little more intentional than the last.

The bar was quiet now, the vampires still watching but keeping their distance.

Niklaus ignored them, focused solely on the woman beside him.

He could feel the tension between them rising with every word exchanged, every flirtatious smile.

After a while, she stood up, grabbing her jacket. "I should probably get going," she said, though her eyes lingered on his, the desire in them unmistakable.

"Mind if I walk with you?" Niklaus asked, his voice low, his intentions clear.

She shrugged, smiling playfully. "If you're up for it."

They walked out of the bar together, the cool night air hitting them as they strolled down the dimly lit street.

Their conversation had quieted, but the tension between them was ever high.

As they neared a narrow alley, she slowed, turning to face him with that same teasing smile she'd been giving him all night.

"You're trouble," she said softly, her eyes locking onto his.

Niklaus smirked, stepping closer, his hand sliding around her waist as he pulled her against him. "Maybe," he murmured, his lips brushing against hers, "but you seem to like a little trouble."

She didn't respond with words—she didn't need to.

Instead, she leaned into him, their lips meeting in a slow, heated kiss.

Niklaus hadn't expected to feel anything—he had started the night with a manipulative mindset, simply playing the game of flirtation without any real intention.

His attraction to her had been superficial at best.

He'd been going through the motions, not expecting it to stir anything inside him.

But when their lips first met, something flickered within him.

It wasn't the act of kissing ; it was the sensation—the heat of her skin, the taste of her lips—that ignited his arousal.

For a brief second, it stunned him.

He was always in control, always detached.

But now, as he kissed her in that alley, he felt a surge of arousal, a hunger that took him by surprise.

With a low grunt, Niklaus kissed her again, this time with more strength, more intent.

He had to carefully hold back his superhuman strength, making sure he didn't crush her in the process.

His hands gripped her waist firmly but gently, pulling her closer as he deepened the kiss, his thoughts clouded with a desire that he hadn't expected to surface.

When they finally broke apart, one of them breathless, Niklaus searched her eyes.

His mind raced, trying to reconcile the new, unfamiliar sensations that coursed through him.

He let out a small chuckle, more to himself than anything, before asking, "Where's your place?"

She giggled at his sudden change in demeanor, clearly amused by the way his demeanor had shifted. "You don't waste any time, do you?" she teased, her eyes sparkling as she caught her breath.

Niklaus smirked, but there was a slight edge to his voice. "What can I say? You've got my attention."

With another playful smile, she told him the address, and Niklaus, still trying to understand what had just stirred inside him, couldn't help but feel intrigued— by his own reaction to it.

It was something he hadn't expected, and that made it all the more interesting and dangerous to him.

---

Niklaus found himself in her room, the air between them thick with tension.

He gently but firmly guided her onto the bed, careful to hold back his strength.

With each deliberate movement, her clothes gradually disappeared, leaving only the bare essentials.

Niklaus tugged off his shirt in a swift motion, watching as she moved across the bed towards him, her intent clear.

As she undid his pants and took his still partially asleep dragon in hand, Niklaus activated his abilities silently, altering his power set a bit temporarily.

He made subtle adjustments—dissolving the heat vision and ensuring that his genetic material would be harmless, rendering it impossible to impregnate her.

He also added some ero enhancements he'd seen in various sources of Culture from the far east, wanting to test a few things.
