Chapter 18: Star Caped Saviour
V-News Special Report: The Mystical Homelander
(Opening shot: a sleek, modern newsroom. An older man with graying hair and a jovial smile sits behind the desk. His name, 'Walter Jennings,' is displayed in bold letters on the screen.)
Walter Jennings (smiling warmly):
"Good evening, folks! I'm Walter Jennings, and tonight, I've got a story for you that feels like it was ripped right out of one of those comic books we all used to read as kids. And believe me, even in all my years behind this desk, I've never seen anything quite like this."
(Walter leans in a bit, a playful twinkle in his eye)
Walter Jennings: "So, who is our knight in shining armor this time? Who am i kidding you already know it—Homelander. And boy, did he give us something to talk about!"
(Cut to footage of Homelander in action during the super cyclone Paradip: the camera pans across the devastation, then zooms in on the storm clouds. Suddenly, Homelander appears, his Black cape flapping in the fierce wind, wild black lightning sparking around his hand.)
Walter Jennings (voice-over, his tone growing excited): "Now, if you haven't seen this yet, buckle up."
" The cyclone was tearing through the coastlines, and then, right on cue, here comes Homelander. Not only does he rescue people trapped in the wreckage, but he goes one step further... or, I guess I should say, one punch further!"
(Cut to the pivotal moment: Homelander winds up his arm, the black lightning crackling wildly around his fist. Then, with one mighty punch, he drives his fist upwards. Great winds pick up as the clouds are forced apart)
Walter Jennings (voice-over, with awe):
"It's not just a simple punch—it's like watching a force of nature battle another force of nature. The storm crumbled as if it were nothing more than mist. And that lightning? Makes you wonder if there's more to this guy than meets the eye. Mythical? Superhuman? You decide."
(Cut back to the studio, where Walter Jennings grins like he's just seen the coolest thing ever.)
Walter Jennings: "Now, I've seen some things in my time, but watching a man take down a cyclone with his bare hands? That's a first, even for me! And let me tell you. The footage looks straight-up mystical to me —like something out of an ancient legend."
(Cut to older footage of Walter Jennings sitting in a chair on a ship, looking distressed. Homelander hovers in the air before him, offering a hand to help him up. The footage is grainy but still clear enough.)
Walter Jennings (voice-over): "I'll let you in on a little secret. I once had the pleasure of meeting the man himself. It was a few years back when I was... let's say 'temporarily stranded' on a ship."
"Long story, maybe for another day. But there I was, no land in sight, and who shows up? None other than Homelander, cape and all. He didn't even say a word—just picked me up like I weighed nothing and flew me back to safety. You bet I sent him a thank-you note, though I'm not sure where to send it!"
(Cut back to the cyclone footage, showing the aftermath: calm skies, survivors being helped by emergency crews, and Homelander quietly flying away.)
Walter Jennings (voice-over): "The people of the town were left in awe. One moment, they were fighting for their lives against the deadliest storm they'd ever seen.
The next, it was calm—thanks to this star caped man who's been showing up just when the world needs him most."
(Cut to an interview with a local woman, standing amidst the wreckage. Her eyes are wide with disbelief as she speaks.)
Survivor: "He came out of nowhere, right when we thought it was over for us. I've never seen anything like it in my life. I don't care where he's from or who he is, he's our savior."
(Cut back to the studio, Walter leaning back in his chair with a knowing smile)
Walter Jennings: "Savior, hero, call him what you will—but Homelander's certainly earned his place in the hearts of people all around the globe. From that hijacking incident years ago to the devastation of super cyclone Paradip, he's been showing up at the right place at the right time. And every time, he leaves us with more questions than answers."
(Walter pauses for dramatic effect, then chuckles softly)
Walter Jennings: "You know, folks, I don't know where Homelander will pop up next. But I do know this—wherever he goes, people are going to be watching. And heck, I'll be right here, ready to talk about it. So, from an old man who owes him one, I say: Keep on doing what you're doing, Homelander. The world could sure use a few more like you."
(Cut to the iconic image of Homelander crouching by the little boy after the hijacking, followed by the cyclone punch footage again in slow motion.)
Walter Jennings (voice-over): "That's all for tonight, folks. Wherever you are, stay safe, keep your head up, and maybe—just maybe—look to the skies, you might find the hero right above you. I'm Walter Jennings, and this is V-News, your place for the stories that make you believe in heroes."
(The screen fades to black, then rolls credits with triumphant music.)
In the dimly lit room of the X-Mansion, the news broadcast had just ended.
The room, usually filled with the low hum of conversation, was now buzzing with the aftermath of the latest V-News segment on Homelander.
Scott Summers, aka Cyclops, sat back in his chair, a thoughtful expression on his face.
Jean Grey and Kitty Pryde were engaged in a lively discussion, their voices overlapping as they debated Homelander's actions.
Jean, with her empathetic nature, expressed a mixture of awe and concern, while Kitty, always keen on the latest news, seemed more focused on the practical implications of having such a hero around.
At the edge of the group, the latest addition to the team, Charys, also known as Mechamorph, stood out with her unique appearance.
Unlike the others, Charys wasn't engaging in the discussion.
Instead, she remained still and silent, her mechanical body whirring softly as purple lines pulsed faintly beneath her surface.
Her face was a single red circle, devoid of any human features, and it narrowed in a way that suggested deep contemplation.
Charys had joined the X-Men four years ago, bringing with her a blend of organic and technological prowess that fascinated and sometimes unsettled her teammates.
She had created the Clone bot—a sophisticated piece of tech that Scott used in conjunction with his optic blasts to remotely use his mutation powers—demonstrating her impressive capabilities of building technology far beyond human capabilities.
Her mutations had turned her into a living, viscous organic machine, capable of seamlessly integrating with and manipulating technology.
As the room filled with animated chatter, Charys remained focused, her red circle glowing softly as she processed the information.
Her silence contrasted sharply with the animated discussion around her, making her presence even more noticeable.
Kitty, noticing Charys's lack of participation, threw a curious glance her way. "What do you think, Charys? Homelander's a bit of a wild card, don't you think?"
Charys's red circle shifted slightly, as if considering the question. "He exhibits a level of power that defies conventional understanding,"
She said, her voice a smooth blend of mechanical and human. "Yet, his motivations and the source of his abilities remain unclear. It is crucial to analyze the broader implications of his actions."
Scott Summers, who had been listening intently, nodded in agreement. "That's a good point. His power is extraordinary, but we need to understand more about him—his goals, his origins. We can't afford to overlook potential risks."
Jean Grey's eyes softened as she looked at Charys. "You've been quiet about this for a reason, haven't you?"
Charys's red circle seemed to darken momentarily as she spoke. "Yes. The nature of his abilities and the display of power suggests a level of control and intent that warrants caution. We must remain vigilant and discerning."
The room fell into a contemplative silence as the X-Men absorbed Charys's words.
Done with her part.
Charys stepped out of the room, her mechanical visage expressionless as she walked down the corridor.
The rhythmic hum of her mechanical components was the only sound accompanying her footsteps.
Her mind was focused, processing the information she had just reviewed.
As she reached the entrance to her lab, she swiftly locked the door behind her. The soft click of the lock echoed in the quiet space.
The visor over her face flickered and then vanished, revealing a human-like face without much features.
Alongside it her mechanical body seems to dissolve giving way to a beautiful body.

It was a striking contrast to the impassive mechanical exterior, a face that showed concern and contemplation.
"Strange," Charys murmured to herself, her voice now carrying a softer, more human tone. "Hive Mother's simulation is not correct for this world."
She paused, considering her next steps. "I should find time to return to reconnect with her, but for now, I'll just send the information on deviation I've collected so far."
With a practiced motion, Charys reached up and pressed a button hidden on the side of her head.
A small, crystal-like cube emerged from a compartment within her, its surface reflecting the lab's fluorescent lights.
She placed the cube into a cylindrical, cup-like device on her workbench.
A brief moment of concentration allowed her to activate the device with a thought.
The cup emitted a soft glow, and then the cube vanished, absorbed into the device's internal systems.
The data it contained would be transmitted to her mother network for further decision making.
Charys glanced at the now-empty device, her expression thoughtful.

In the far reaches of space, beyond the limits of the observable universe, lay an expanse so vast and enigmatic it defied human comprehension.
It was a realm where the edges of the universe were marked by a dark shell, a void punctuated only by faint red lines crisscrossing through the darkness.
This barrier encapsulated everything within the universe that existed beyond it , with nothing but infinite darkness stretching beyond.
At the core of this uncharted sea of machines existed a colossal machine, far larger than any physical dimension could measure.
It was an incomprehensible construct, its very essence stretching across the bounds of the universe and beyond, into the abyss of nothingness.
Within this gigantic machine, a single red circle, enormous beyond scale, stirred to life.
This circle, a focal point of unimaginable power, began to hum with energy as it processed the data transmitted from the small cube.
The data, sent from Charys's device, reached this monolithic entity long before time itself could resume its usual flow across the multiverse.
From the red circle, countless lines extended outward, tracing the contours of a massive, spherical structure.
This structure, an amalgamation of many shells, represented the universes it had absorbed.
Each shell was a once-vibrant universe, now reduced to mere processing components, assimilated into the machine's vast network.
Every form of matter and antimatter, every fragment of life, had been converted into parts of this cosmic mechanism.
The red circle, vibrating with a dark, ominous energy, trembled slightly.
It seemed to exude a form of amusement as it processed the simulation's failure.
The laughter was an unsettling sound, resonating with the knowledge of countless universes consumed and the ongoing assimilation that continued without pause.
The vast machine, with its sprawling network and omnipotent presence, was a beast of cosmic intelligence that saw the universe as little more than a puzzle to be solved in its free time.
The failure of a simulation, trivial in its grand scheme, was a moment of amusement in its endless calculations.
