Carol soared through the air, her heart surging with exhilaration, like a bird finally freed from its cage.

While Mike was battling the controlled version of "her," Carol herself had been engaged in a fight of her own—one against the Supreme Intelligence. Their battle took place in an unseen mental realm. Although Mike had freed her from its control swiftly, even in that brief moment, she had gained significant insights.

She now understood that as long as she willed it, she could break free from the shackles the Supreme Intelligence had placed on her and destroy the power inhibitor.

Her abilities didn't come from the Kree. They were hers and hers alone.

No one could restrain her if she refused to be bound!

At that thought, her emotions surged with intensity.

In the next instant, as Mike braced himself against a falling missile and redirected it into the air toward the others, Carol did the same. She caught a missile mid-flight and hurled it skyward.

*Boom!*

Blazing energy beams and photon blasts streaked across the sky, detonating multiple missiles in a fiery explosion that painted the heavens like a burning cloud. Without hesitation, Mike and Carol rushed toward the remaining warheads.

*Boom! Boom!*

Like a string of firecrackers going off, every missile in their path was obliterated.

*Whoosh!*

The two of them pierced through the fiery cloud and came to a halt mid-air.

"It's all yours now," Mike said casually before diving back down.

His card's remaining time was running out. If he wanted to keep fighting, he'd have to waste another one.

The rest could be left to Carol.

At this moment, nothing could stand in her way.

Carol chuckled with a "Heh," lifted her head toward the fleet beyond Earth's atmosphere, and charged forward.

Mike landed, touching down just as his time limit expired.

Clark emerged from the cornfield, and father and son exchanged a knowing smile before heading toward the house.

"Yahoo!"

"Dad, that was amazing!"

"Clark, you looked incredible!"

Charles and Erik cheered as they ran up to the two of them.

Mike gave the boys a brief hug before turning to look at Nick Fury and Talos standing off to the side.

Both men instinctively gulped, especially Fury…

After all, Mike had once landed multiple punches on him. The fact that he was still standing upright after that? Now that was something to brag about—wait, no, to be proud of.

After all, Mike had punched Carol away with a single blow, but *he* had remained standing. By that logic, he was stronger than Carol.

Yeah… that made perfect sense!

Nick Fury nodded to himself in satisfaction.

"You okay?"

Mike frowned as he noticed Fury staring blankly at him.

His injuries seemed to have healed, but why did he look so dazed? Had he been hit too hard in the head?

Fury blinked rapidly, snapping back to reality, then said gratefully, "Thanks for earlier. If it weren't for you, I'd be dead by now."

"Yeah, *dead cold*," Talos chimed in helpfully.

Fury's mouth twitched as he glared at Talos in frustration.

Talos paused, thinking he hadn't made his point clear enough, then added, "I mean, *completely* dead."

He even flashed Fury an earnest smile.

Fury let out a heavy sigh.

Did this alien not understand facial expressions?

"Let's go. Time to head home," Mike said, leading the way.

He and Clark were still shirtless, after all.

"Carol will be fine, right?" Fury asked, a trace of concern in his voice.

Mike waved his hand dismissively and said, "Relax. Fighting those Kree soldiers is no different for her than fighting you."

Nick Fury exhaled in relief but then frowned slightly. The statement made perfect sense… yet something about it felt off.

While Mike and Clark changed clothes, Carol finished the battle and returned with some good news—or rather, a surprise.

She had found Mar-Vell's lab ship and even piloted a small spacecraft back.

When the vessel landed, Nick Fury and Talos erupted into cheers, while Mike's family remained composed.

As the hatch opened, Carol stepped out, casually tossing a glowing blue cube in her hand. Behind her stood two Skrulls—one large, one small.

Talos immediately fell silent. Then, in a flash, he sprinted forward and embraced them tightly.

It was his wife and child.

"Thank you! Thank you!"

Overcome with emotion, he expressed his gratitude to Carol.

Carol smiled and said, "The thing you truly care about isn't the core in my hand, is it?"

Talos grinned, lifting his child into his arms and gently kissing his wife.

Without hesitation, Carol tossed the Tesseract toward Nick Fury.

Rather than catching it, Fury instinctively leaped back, taking cover behind Clark.

The scene fell into an awkward silence.

Carol's mouth twitched. "Why didn't you catch it?"

Fury replied, "Who knows if that thing is dangerous? And you just threw it over like that…"

Mike glanced at the Tesseract on the ground, his eyes flickering slightly before he let out a quiet chuckle.

This thing… was going to be a huge headache.

"Hurry up and pick it up," Carol said as she stepped off the spacecraft. "This is the energy core—it belongs to S.H.I.E.L.D."

Years ago, Howard Stark had recovered the Tesseract, and it had remained in S.H.I.E.L.D.'s possession until Mar-Vell took it to develop her light-speed engine. It had since been stored in her lab for years.

*"Meow!"*

Goose peeked out from a nearby room, eyes locked onto the glowing Tesseract as if spotting a new toy. Just as Fury reached down to pick it up, the cat darted out and placed a paw on the cube.

"Goose, move aside," Fury said, waving a hand at the feline.

Goose glared at him, clearly unimpressed.

Fury crouched, smiling as he reached out to pet the cat—only for Goose to suddenly open its mouth wide.

"You should probably keep your distance," Talos warned nervously.

Fury scoffed. "It's just a cat. What, are you scared—? Holy—!"

Before he could finish, Goose's mouth stretched unnaturally wide and swallowed the Tesseract whole. Then, as if nothing had happened, it tilted its head and stared at him.

Fury instinctively took two steps back, beads of cold sweat forming on his forehead. He turned to Carol and muttered, "I knew it. That thing is dangerous—it mutates whatever touches it."

Carol looked utterly speechless.

Talos chuckled and explained, "That's a Flerken, not a cat."

*"Meow!"*

Goose flicked its tail and trotted toward Fury.

Fury stiffened but forced a smile. "It's not gonna scratch my handsome face, is it?"

As the sky darkened, everyone glanced at him. His face was becoming harder to see in the dim light.

Their lips twitched.

*Shameless…*

Carol laughed. "Judging by how it looks, I'd say it likes you."

Fury hesitated for a moment before bending down to meet Goose's gaze. After two tense seconds, he carefully picked it up.

Seeing that it didn't immediately devour him, he sighed in relief.
