Chapter 37: CH 37: Makluan
Although Ragnar had transformed into a golden dragon, it didn't grant him the ability to breathe underwater.
Ragnar flapped his wings and clawed at the water, desperately trying to reach the surface. Suddenly, a powerful gust of wind erupted from the Great Protector, creating a breathable pocket of air.
Ragnar fell through the air, landing with a thud on the lakebed, while the Great Protector gazed at him with pity.
'You haven't even been able to fully master your shapeshifting,' the Great Protector thought, sensing Ragnar's young age and his inability to adapt to underwater environments.
'Tell me, child, why are you here?' the Great Protector asked softly, her voice echoing in his mind. She patiently awaited his answer.
"To visit Ta Lo?" Ragnar replied through telepathy, observing the Great Protector. 'Why can she use telepathy?' he wondered, pondering if he had been transported to a different world of Marvel, not just a world of Marvel movies.
The Great Protector nodded kindly, circling him. 'You can stay if you want. It's been ages since I saw another of our kind, other than that grumpy fellow,' she grumbled, referring to the Soul Eater who constantly sought to attack humans and longed to eat her soul.
Then, the Great Protector focused on Ragnar with a curious look, her voice laced with a hint of hope. 'Do you still remember your parents?' she asked, hoping there were others like them existing on Earth.
"Parents?" Ragnar questioned, confused. He sensed that the dragon wasn't referring to the parents he had arrived with in Ta Lo, so he shook his head.
'A pity,' the Great Protector sighed. She knew it was a long shot, but she looked at Ragnar with a maternal instinct. 'How about you stay here, and I'll guide you on how to control our species powers?'
'And what are we, to begin with?' Ragnar asked cautiously. He only knew about the Chat Group System, which had transformed him into a dragon. He never imagined he would be the same species as the Great Protector.
The Great Protector nodded in understanding. She realized that Ragnar's youth prevented him from knowing their origins. Their species lived for eons, and she could sense that Ragnar hadn't lived very long in his human form.
The Great Protector began to explain, as she didn't find anything wrong with telling someone from the same species. 'We are not beings from this planet.'
'We are a cosmic race called Makluans,' The Great Protector said proudly. 'We came from a star system called Maklu, from a planet called Kakaranthara,' she stated with a hint of melancholy, remembering her home planet.
'Then why are you here?' Ragnar asked tentatively. He knew about the Makluans from the comics, but he was completely unfamiliar with their story. He never even knew of any Makluans in this universe.
'Our planet was one of the most advanced civilizations in the universe,' the Great Protector boasted before glaring at the Soul Eater's cage. 'But because of that peace has lasted long on our planet. But peace is not for everyone,' she said seriously.
'Some of our species chose to leave, seeking a planet to conquer. But before they left our home planet, they stole something—a weapon, one of the greatest creations of our people,' the Great Protector nodded, noticing that Ragnar was still listening. 'Sensible child,' she thought with delight.
'Then me and some other Makluans tried to stop them and reclaim the weapon. We landed here on Earth thousands of years ago,' the Great Protector sighed, shaking her head. She stopped the story. 'Enough of that. Now, tell me, do you want to stay here?' she asked hopefully, she knew if this young Makluan was found by humans he would be hunted down.
'Can I just visit?' Ragnar asked slowly, lowering his head, feeling the Great Protector's expectations.
'Do you want to leave with the humans you came with? Why?' the Great Protector frowned. She didn't fully trust humans. In her long life, she had learned about their ways. That's why only a few residents of Ta Lo had received her blessing.
'Because they are important to me,' Ragnar answered, looking the Great Protector straight in the eyes.
The Great Protector sighed, 'Humans,' she thought, shaking her head. She knew how dangerous yet precious creatures they were. She even knew one of the strongest humans on Earth—the same one who had taken the weapon she was seeking.
'Go. Ta Lo will always welcome you,' the Great Protector said before using her wind power to send Ragnar back to the surface. 'Maybe you can even find it yourself,' she thought, recalling that the stolen weapon was being used as a bracelet by a human, despite being intended as a ring.
The Great Protector's eyes flashed with disdain, the human might have been using the weapon for thousands of years, but it didn't change the fact that it didn't belong to them, and they couldn't even use its full potential. 'The Rings are meant to be wielded by a Makluan,' she thought before closing her eyes.

Ragnar began to shapeshift back into a human as he swam up to the surface of the lake, but the only problem was that he was now naked.
"Looks like you already had a talk with her," Jiayi said with a smile, standing by the shore with Ying Li and Ying Nan by her side.
"Can you tell me where my parents are?" Ragnar asked, embarrassed, not wanting to get closer to them while he was naked.
Jiayi chuckled and patted Ying Li on the head. "Go call our guest," she said, knowing Ragnar had probably transformed back into his true form. She couldn't help but be relieved to see that Ragnar treated Sicilia and Elliot as his parents.
Ying Li, who was looking at Ragnar curiously, nodded and ran back towards the square.
Ying Li saw that the residents were surrounding Sicilia, Elliot, and Ororo, their weapons tensely gripped.
The Shishi beside the residents growled nervously at the golden lion with a ruby on its head that stood in front of Sicilia, protecting them.
"Master Jiayi told me to take the guest back to the lake," Ying Li said softly, drawing everyone's attention. Unlike the residents, she looked at Regulus with curiosity.
The Elders frowned, exchanging glances before focusing on the golden lion.
"They can leave, but this lion stays," an old man declared, eyeing Regulus tensely.
"Don't even think about it," Sicilia said, looking at them with a sneer. Inside, she felt refreshed. Now they could fight back.
"RAWWRR!" Regulus roared at the Ta Lo residents, causing the Shishi to lay down and whimper, surrendering to the golden lion.
The other warriors held their weapons tensely, while two of the elders blessed by the Great Protector began to wield the wind.
"Enough!" Guang Bo shouted, striking his staff against the ground. "The lake is a sacred place for us, as it is the home of the Great Protector. You can go, but we hope you don't cause a ruckus," he said to Sicilia and the others before focusing on Regulus.
"Guang Bo, you can't decide that on your own," the Older Elder said, frowning. Guang Bo was the newest and youngest elder of them all.
"Why? Are you guys more important than the boy who was taken by the Great Protector herself?" Guang Bo retorted, his voice rising. He also didn't want people from Earth to come to Ta Lo, but this time, it wasn't their place to decide.
The elders looked at each other, seeing the helplessness in their eyes before stepping back, giving way to Sicilia and the others.
"Don't worry, Regulus is just here to protect us," Sicilia said, nodding to Guang Bo before walking towards Ying Li.
"I hope so," Guang Bo whispered weakly, sensing the threat coming from Regulus.
"Can I touch it?" Ying Li asked in Mandarin, staring at Regulus with shining eyes.
"If he allows you to," Sicilia answered in Mandarin, causing Ying Li's eyes to widen slightly. She then walked slowly towards Regulus.
Ying Li raised her hand slowly, while Regulus continued to walk, neither ignoring nor paying attention to her. She put her hand on Regulus as she walked beside him.
"Soft!" Ying thought to herself, caressing Regulus's fur as they walked towards the lake.
"Looks like you caused quite a mess out there," Jiayi whispered, looking at Regulus with a raised eyebrow before pointing to Ragnar on the lake.
"No way. Who would have thought that the Guardian of Ta Lo was so strong and a dragon kidnapped my son as soon as he entered?" Sicilia said sarcastically, putting down the suitcase on the shore and opening it.
Then, a head peeked out of the suitcase, looking at them curiously. "Hi Regulus!" Dalia said, waving to the golden lion.
"Magic?" Jiayi asked, uncertainty in her voice. She hadn't seen anything like this before. 'Even Kamar-Taj didn't have this thing,' she thought silently.
"Can I look inside?" Ying Li asked, curiously walking closer to Sicilia and peering into the suitcase.
"Ying Li, Ying Nan come here," Jiayi scolded slightly, causing Ying Li to retreat to Jiayi's side with her sister.
Sicilia chuckled at Ying Li before rubbing Dalia's head. "Can you ask your brothers to find Ragnar some clothes?"
"Wait a minute!" Dalia shouted, running down the stairs as the suitcase closed for a moment.
A minute later, the suitcase opened by itself, and Dalia handed Sicilia the clothes.
"Can I come out?" Dalia asked hopefully, looking at Sicilia with shining eyes.
"Come on," Sicilia whispered, smiling as she pulled Dalia up from the suitcase before closing it.
