Marvel: Dragon King

Chapter 34: CH 34: Bamboo Forest

"Emerald, come on, let's go!" Luna shouted excitedly, perched atop the basilisk's head.

"Sssssss~" Emerald slithered freely across the ground, a unicorn galloping alongside. While a dragon, an Occamy, and a phoenix soared above.

As Luna and her magical companions reveled in their fun, the sound of approaching hooves reached their ears.

Luna turned to see a female centaur, adorned with leaves, bowing towards her.

"Lady Luna, it's time for your class," the centaur murmured, glancing nervously at the basilisk. She couldn't help but tremble at its immense size, but she was also in awe of Luna, who had tamed the beast. 'Truly, the person blessed by nature,' she thought, feeling fortunate to have been chosen to assist Luna with the magical animals.

"Already?" Luna pouted, reluctant to leave her playful companions. However, she knew it was time to put her fun aside. She patted Emerald's head gently.

"Sssss~" Emerald lowered her head, allowing Luna to dismount.

"Bye, Sparky, Noberta, and Emerald," Luna waved farewell to the phoenix, the dragon, and the basilisk as she mounted the unicorn as the Occamy suddenly shrunk and flew into her pocket.

"I'll go first!" Luna smiled at the centaur, gripping the unicorn's mane. "Let's go, Celia. I don't want to be late for class."

Celia neighed and galloped towards the small shack on clearing in the center of the grassy fields.

As the female centaur watched Luna's retreating figure with a smile, she froze, sensing the gaze of the three formidable creatures upon her.

"Hel-Hello?" she stammered, slowly turning around, but the magical beasts had already vanished. She patted her chest in relief and clenched her fist. 'I need to improve to be the perfect assistant to Lady Luna!' she resolved.

"I'll see you later, Celia," Luna called back as she dismounted. The unicorn nuzzled Luna's head affectionately.

"I know. I'll stay longer next time," Luna whispered before rushing toward the stairs. The ceiling automatically opened as she emerged from her suitcase.

"I should give something to Ragnar," Luna murmured, fixing her clothes with a spell. 'What could I give him?' she wondered.

It had been four weeks since Luna arrived at Hogwarts. She had completed a mission, destroyed another Horcrux, and most importantly she made a new friend.

Luna frowned, remembering that Ragnar had always wanted a magical animal. However, she couldn't send a living creature through the mail. So instead of thinking she decided to ask him directly.

[Beast Tamer]: @Golden Dragon Ragnar Do you need something? I want to pay you back for the information.

Luna waited calmly for his response, knowing the time in their worlds are different from each other. She put on an earring she had received from Sona and left her room, humming a tune.

[Viking Champion]: @Beast Tamer That guy shouldn't be able to answer you. I think he found what he was looking for.

Astrid replied, while listening to the gossip swirling around her as she walked toward the Arena.

"Have you seen it? It blasted Rodrick's house with just one breath," a Viking boasted to his mate as they strolled by.

"Of course, I have seen it. I never thought the Night Fury would return," another Viking sighed, fearing the Night Fury's potential for death in their village.

"Maybe Astrid could kill it," the first Viking suggested, noticing Astrid walking past them.

"Even though she's the champion, she's still a kid," the second Viking whispered hurriedly.

Astrid, however, simply gripped her axe tighter, her heart racing with excitement. She knew the Night Fury had reappeared last night.

'Now I can complete the Major Missions,' Astrid thought, her gaze fixed on the elusive dragon. For three years, she had been obsessed with capturing it, but it had vanished probably attacking other villages than Berk.

Now, though, she wasn't worried about it targeting other villages. 'Don't even think about disappearing,' Astrid thought with a smirk, her eyes shined with confidence because now she could ask Skadi for help.

In the Marvel Universe, Astrid's guess proved correct. Ragnar was too preoccupied to respond, his gaze fixed on the towering bamboo forest before him.

"Finally, we're here," Ragnar said, his voice tinged with happiness. It had been four weeks since they began their search for the bamboo forest in China. Even with their flying RV, China was vast, even larger than the China in his past world.

The Earth in the Marvel Universe was simply bigger, with cities like Sokovia and Madripoor exist, some other cities like that were the first thing they visited during their journey through China.

But that decision was proven right with Ragnar and Sicilia's combined mind-reading abilities had finally provided them with the clues they needed to locate the bamboo forest.

"So, is this it?" Ororo asked, walking beside him. She then looked at Ragnar with concern. "Are you okay? Have you had any sleep at all?" She noticed the deepening dark circles under his eyes.

"It's fine, I'm fine," Ragnar waved his hand dismissively, a wry smile playing on his lips. He couldn't explain why, but Jean had suddenly started demanding sparring sessions when he entered their shared conscious space after telling his travel experiences.

Ragnar hadn't even known their connection could be used for sparring, feeling as if it were real. Initially, he had been excited about the prospect of using his powers in a fight without limitations, but then he started losing, losing so badly that he felt it was bordering on abuse.

After all, they were still fighting in a conscious space, and the strongest mental power always prevailed. Even he couldn't defeat Jean in a battle of minds.

Ragnar heard a scoff behind him, making him turn around with a frown.

Elliot grinned at Ragnar, concealing his smirk. 'I told you so, brat,' he thought, relishing the sight of his son getting whipped like he had been. 'Don't worry, I'll teach you a few tricks to calm girls down,' he chuckled, nodding sagely.

Then, Elliot felt a sharp twist to his waist, his eyes widening in alarm.

"Is there something funny?" Sicilia asked, smiling but her gaze was cold as ice.

Elliot gulped, trying to compose himself. "No, nothing's funny, dear," he said, forcing a smile.

Sicilia simply nodded before looking at Ragnar with a knowing expression. 'You're on your own with this one,' she thought, recognizing that Ragnar's connection to Jean would likely develop feelings between them, even at their young age.

"So, how do we get in?" Sicilia asked, looking towards the bamboo forest, which had a sudden opening in the middle.

"Just drive into the forest," Ragnar replied, turning back towards the RV. "Then we'll fly if we can't find our way in."

"Are you sure? Didn't you say the forest kills people?" Elliot frowned at Ragnar's plan. "Why don't we just fly from the start?"

"We need to stay in the forest. We're looking for someone, someone who can allow us to enter Ta Lo," Ragnar explained, remembering that there was a guardian within the forest who stopped people from getting closer to the Ta Lo dimensional portal.

"And if this person doesn't let us enter Ta Lo?" Ororo asked curiously as she climbed into the RV.

"Then we can still convince her the hard way," Ragnar said, glancing at his companions. He didn't believe that the guardian could defeat them.

After all, the guardian only had the blessing of the Great Protector and knew how to fight, while they had two psychics and two mutants on their side.

"Let's go," Ragnar said, tapping the steering wheel.

The RV's engine roared to life, and the vehicle surged forward on its own, accelerating into the open space within the bamboo forest.

The bamboo behind them closed in as they sped through, as if the very forest itself was chasing them.

"Fly if you can't outrun it," Ragnar said calmly, though the RV seemed to sense his urgency. It accelerated even faster, refusing to be overtaken by the closing bamboo. It even began to drive through the dense forest, the bamboo pressing in behind, threatening to engulf them.

Just as the bamboo was about to engulf the RV, it lifted into the air, soaring upwards as the forest closed completely behind it.

"Let's go," Ragnar called out to his parents and Ororo, the RV's door automatically opening. He grabbed his suitcase from the floor. "Follow us from above," he instructed the RV before jumping down.

"Wait for me," Ororo said, leaping down as her eyes turned white, using the wind to slow down her fall.

Elliot and Sicilia jumped together, Sicilia using her telekinesis to ease their descent.

"So, where should we go?" Elliot asked, looking around. All he saw was endless bamboo.

"To the center," Ragnar said with a shrug because now he was just copying Xu Wenwu's encounter with Ying Li as best he could.

"Come on, let's go. The forest is still moving," Sicilia urged, pulling Elliot forward to follow Ragnar and Ororo. She could hear the sound of bamboo clashing and rustling in the distance, a constant reminder the forest was alive.

Unbeknownst to Ragnar, deep within the forest, a woman wearing a mask, a straw bamboo hat, and with white hair, had witnessed the RV's entrance from a distance. With a single step, she vanished.

This time, Ragnar was dead wrong in his assumptions.
