Marvel: Dragon King

Chapter 28: CH 28: Cairo

"You drive," Elliot said, pulling Ragnar to the driver's seat and rubbing his chest. He winced, when he tried to drive again, the steering wheel suddenly extended and hits him on the chest.

"Where are we even going?" Ragnar asked, settling into the driver's seat while glancing at Elliot. He didn't even touch the steering wheel because the RV could fly on its own.

"Where do you want to go?" Elliot asked, taking a seat beside Sicilia.

"You really don't learn, do you?" Sicilia whispered, sighing as she hit Elliot's shoulder playfully.

Ragnar began to think, sifting through his memories. What was the most significant event in the timeline. 'Ego should have arrived on Earth. The most imminent event is Apocalypse,' he thought, recalling details from the MCU and X-Men movies.

"Cairo! We're going to Cairo!" Ragnar shouted, grabbing the steering wheel.

"What are we going there for?" Elliot asked, his curiosity piqued. He began to wonder what mission Ragnar had received.

"To check on a Smurf!" Ragnar said, his voice laced with playful sarcasm. But deep down, he was considering whether he could defeat Apocalypse, who was still slumbering.

'Avada Kadavra should work, right?' Ragnar thought, although he wasn't sure how to cast that spell.

As the RV soared through the sky toward Cairo, a message appeared in the Chat Group.

[Viking Champion]: @Golden Dragon, did you get any missions?

Astrid asked, while dodging a barrage of spike spines launched by a Deadly Nadder.

At thirteen, Astrid was already participating in the trials to become a Dragon Slayer.

Unlike the other participants, who were hiding behind their shields and on the wooden walls, she was leaping, dodging, and using the walls as springboards. With a swift movement, she grabbed the Deadly Nadder by the neck and scratched it under the chin making the dragon fall asleep.

"That's the Champion of the Gods for you," the other teenagers whispered in awe.

"Looks like I need to deal with that dragon if I want them to accept you guys," Astrid murmured, stroking the Deadly Nadder's scales with emotions, she knew dragons weren't inherently evil but was just being forced.

"I'll go first," Astrid said, already moving towards the exit as the others started to follow.

"Astrid dealt with it again," Gobber sighed, shaking his head as he held onto the railings. He was impressed, but he knew the other kids wouldn't learn anything if Astrid always saved the day.

"I need to convince Gothi to let her pass," Gobber muttered, rubbing his forehead. He knew he would likely get into trouble, but Gothi was the only one who could decide if Astrid could become a Viking.

[Golden Dragon]: I got a mission, alright, but I'm not sure I can do it.

Ragnar sighed as he looked at the missions.

Ragnar knew he couldn't stop the emergence of the Celestials or help Ajak right now. And he felt he may be even more helpless facing a mission involving Apocalypse.

[Heir of Body Sect]: It's okay if you can't do it. At least you're starting to get missions, right?

Huo Yuhao said this, but if anyone asked who wanted to upgrade the Chat Group System the most, it was him. He wanted to complete more missions, become stronger.

Huo Yuhao smiled as he started carving an array on a steel pipe, creating a Soul Tool. But his smile faltered as he heard Tian Meng's voice in his head.

'What's with this smiling? Did your friends give you something good?' Tian Meng's giddy voice sounded in Huo Yuhao's mind.

Although Huo Yuhao could use his Conscious Space Control to hide things from the spirits within him, he chose not to because he needed Electrolux's help on certain missions.

Huo Yuhao didn't have to respond, because someone else stepped in.

"Bug, you should let Huo Yuhao decide if he wants to tell you something," Electrolux's voice, laced with a touch of disdain, rang out from Huo Yuhao's sea of consciousness.

"Old man, how many times do I have to tell you? I have a name! It's Tian Meng," Tian Meng said, floating towards Electrolux, emphasizing his name slowly. "Ti~an~Meng."

"You're right. You're not just a bug," Electrolux agreed, though his eyes still held a hint of disdain. "You're a lucky bug," he added, knowing full well that Tian Meng was just lucky to be stronger, but ultimately, he was still raised to be eaten.

"You!" Tian Meng shouted, transforming into a human form with golden hair. He pointed at Electrolux in disbelief.

Before their argument escalated, someone stepped in to stop them.

"I think you both should be quiet. We need to listen to what Huo Yuhao has to say," Qian Renxue said, her gaze fixed on Electrolux. She didn't care about the bug, but she valued Electrolux's opinion. He was more knowledgeable than she was about certain things.

Electrolux nodded at Qian Renxue, acknowledging he, respecting her for the achievement of godhood.

Tian Meng huffed as he float towards the corner of the sea of consciousness as they all began to wait patiently for Huo Yuhao to speak.

Huo Yuhao, back in the real world, breathed a sigh of relief as the arguing spirits fell silent. He didn't like using his Conscious Space Control to force them to be quiet.

In the three years since they had joined him, he had grown close to them, especially Electrolux, who had become his mentor, more skilled in the Light element than even Qian Renxue.

"The Chat Group System should be almost upgraded," Huo Yuhao whispered, assembling the Soul Tool. He pointed it toward the wall and pulled the trigger.

BOOM!

A massive hole appeared in the wall, smoke billowing from the Soul Tool.

Huo Yuhao set down the shotgun, a more advanced model he had received from Sona, which he had upgraded into a Soul Tool.

Huo Yuhao was excited. He was already a Soul King, practiced Soul Forging, and was knowledgeable about Soul Tools, but he still craved the missions and the rewards it offered.

[Golden Dragon]: Let's just hope that I get a mission I can actually do.

The next day, Cairo's bustling streets were a relentless tide of humanity, a never-ending flow of people coming and going, the air hummed with the constant chatter of vendors, the honking of horns, and the scent of spices wafting from street stalls.

Three figures stood out from the crowd, their movements deliberate, their eyes kept looking around, searching for a specific place, a diner.

"Do you even know where we're going?" Elliot asked, his voice laced with exasperation as he and Sicilia trailed after Ragnar.

"A diner?" Ragnar said tentatively, his memory flickering back to the moment Moira had followed a man inside a diner, a diner that led to a hidden tunnel where Apocalypse was buried.

"Wait!" Elliot shouted, his voice sharp as he saw Ragnar barreling ahead, leaving them behind in the crowd of people.

"Honey, maybe you should think first about what we're trying to find. Otherwise, we're going back. We're drawing too much attention," Sicilia said, her eyes scanning the crowds. She felt gazes lingering, predatory eyes that carried a sense of malice. With her telepathy, she could sense their ill intentions.

Ragnar's brow furrowed as he searched his memory for anything that would pinpoint the man, that Moira followed in the movie.

"They had triangle tattoos on their necks," Ragnar said, turning to his mother.

Sicilia pressed her fingers against her temple, her focusing on her telepathy, she frowned as she sifted through the memories of the people around them, looking into the minds of the bustling people in the streets that kept moving was a daunting task.

After a few minutes, Sicilia shook her head but she saw Ragnar's disappointed expression, "Maybe we're on the other side of Cairo. It's a pretty big city, you know."

"But for now, how about we go back to the RV?" Sicilia noticed a man approaching, whose gaze fixed on them. Though she wasn't afraid, she didn't enjoy unnecessary fights.

"Come on, son, I know you want missions, but you got two yesterday. Let's just enjoy this trip," Elliot said, placing a hand on Ragnar's shoulder.

Sicilia's eyes flickered with a subtly as she used her telepathy to shift the man's intentions making him turn away, oblivious to her influence.

"Let's go. Mom's skin is getting burned," Sicilia said seeing Ragnar's hesitation, pulling Ragnar's hand as they walked as she smiled at him.

Ragnar showed a wry smile knowing he couldn't refuse his mother's request.

As they approached the RV, the crowd of people parted around them, their gazes averted, as if the vehicle were invisible. It was as if they were programmed to ignore it.

The RV was cloaked in an invisibility spell, a muggle-repelling enchantment that made them ignore its presence, even if someone could see through the invisibility spell.

"Next time we find a house, how about you cast this spell on it?" Elliot said, his voice tinged with amusement as they reached the RV and the gazes that had been following them vanished.

Ragnar just smiled as he walked in front of the door when he heard a muffled voice from inside, a shout for help in English and another language. His eyes widened in alarm, and he turned to his parents.

"I thought no one could find this?" Sicilia said, a hint of surprise in her voice. She pushed Ragnar aside, though she knew Ragnar was stronger, her maternal instincts were kicking in.

"Check it out. See who's in there," Sicilia said, her gaze fixed on Elliot as she pulled Ragnar away.

"Me?" Elliot pointed at himself, his voice incredulous. "I can't even transform into a dragon normally. You try it. I'll stay here with him." He shoved Sicilia towards the RV, pushing her gently but firmly.

"Huh," Sicilia scoffed, glaring at her husband then her eyes narrowed coldly, she stepped forward, and the door swung open automatically, revealing the RV's interior.

"And who might you be, young lady?" Sicilia asked, her voice was cold and commanding but her eyes widened in surprise as it fell upon a young girl, her dark skin contrasting with her peculiar white hair.

The girl was clutching her head, tears streaming down her face.

"Demonic vehicle!" Ororo whispered, her voice trembling with fear. She looked up at Sicilia, her eyes filled with a mixture of hope and terror.

Sicilia used her telepathy to look into Ororo's memory, then the reason why Ororo was here, flashed before her mind.

Ten minutes ago when the Haddock family left.

Ororo who was trying to find an easy target to steal from saw the RV, parked haphazardly in the alleyway. But her curiosity grew and her thief's instinct taking hold. 'Maybe there were valuables inside, something I could trade,' she thought as she rubbed her belly.

But Ororo noticed something was different, people were around the RV, oblivious to its presence, a strange, almost unseeable energy covering around the vehicle.

Just as Ororo was about to look inside through the window, the door swung open with a loud creak, catching her off guard.

Ororo hesitated, surprised, but the opportunity was too good to resist. With a slight hesitation, she darted inside, her heart thrumming with anticipation.

Ororo reached out, her fingers brushing against the shiny leather seat.

'Everything here is new,' Ororo thought before she could explore further, the RV engine suddenly turned on. Drawers slammed open, cabinets flung wide, their contents raining down upon her.

The assault was sudden, brutal, and completely unexpected and caught Ororo off guard she didn't even have time to use her powers when she was knocked to the floor at that time Ororo realized it was a trap and the vehicle was alive.

Sicilia's gaze fell upon Ororo, her eyes filled with a mixture of distress and pity, not knowing what to say she just sighed.

Ororo, finally catching her breath, looked up at Sicilia with teary eyes, searching for mercy, for a glimmer of understanding. She knew Sicilia was probably the owner of this terrifying machine.

"Don't look at me like that. This thing doesn't listen to me either," Sicilia said, shaking her head, her voice laced with exasperation. She knew what Ororo was thinking, "Ragnar!" she called out, her voice echoing through the vehicle.

"Did we catch a thief?" Ragnar asked as he got into the RV. His eyes widened as he recognized Ororo. 'Storm?' he thought in shock. He observed her closely, his gaze lingering on her white hair.

"Can you please let me go? I won't tell anyone what I saw today, I promise," Ororo pleaded, her eyes welling up. She was using a trick she'd learned to survive on the streets, a tactic of feigning vulnerability. 'What kind of family is this?' she wondered.

Sicilia shook her head, knowing Ororo's thoughts, but she remained silent because she felt a surge of sympathy for the girl.

"Mom, can we keep her?" Ragnar asked, his voice firm and unwavering, his gaze locked on Ororo, his excitement burning in his eyes.

Ororo's breath hitched, and she took a step back, her entire body stiffening. Her fingers crackled with a faint spark of lightning. She knew she couldn't possibly defeat them both, but she would fight for her freedom.

"What are you saying, young man?!" Sicilia exclaimed, her eyebrow arching in a mixture of skepticism and amusement. She knew her son was capable of impulsive actions, but this felt different, more out of place.

Elliot, his eyes crinkling at the corners, tried to stifle a chuckle.

"That's my boy," Elliot whispered, a hint of sarcasm in his voice. He knew his son was up to something, but he was too amused to stop him.

Ragnar, ignoring his mother's disapproval and focused on the Chat Group System, which had suddenly presented him with a series of missions the moment he saw Storm.
