Marvel: DNF Invades

Chapter 48: Chapter 48

Luke sighed.

It will rain, and my mother will get married, but people will eventually learn to let go.

Still, he felt a little reluctant. What a great three-person sparring team this had been…

Moving a small stool, Luke sat in front of the glass cell like last time. He looked at the three inside and said, "Let's talk."

Black Widow folded her arms, puffed out her chest, and looked down at Luke. "Speak."

Hawkeye chuckled. He'd taken quite a few hits to the head from Luke lately.

Agent May rolled her eyes, still upset that Coulson had tricked her into coming. She wanted to settle the score with him as soon as she got out of here.

Luke had already thought of his demands. He put them forward.

"It's not impossible to let you go. In fact, I wasn't the one who caused this mess. You guys came after me first, trying to test me. If you want to blame someone, blame Nick Fury."

"Hmph." Black Widow snorted lightly but didn't deny it.

"So, I'm actually the victim here. I mean, I'm just a cute kid, staying at home playing with models, and suddenly, S.H.I.E.L.D. agents show up at my doorstep? There are plenty of superpowered criminals robbing people on the streets, but you came after me? I'm starting to think you guys are evading taxes."

"…"

The three were thrown off by Luke's sudden change of topic.

Why had this conversation suddenly shifted to tax evasion?

Even if they were evading taxes—which they weren't—it wasn't like S.H.I.E.L.D. had to pay any in the first place, right?

"Before you two showed up, I already told Natasha—I have no ill intentions. My only request is that I don't want to be disturbed."

Luke continued, "When you leave here, you need to keep my affairs a secret. You can't tell anyone—especially my adoptive parents. I don't want them to worry."

Luke deliberately played up his childlike innocence while speaking, making sure they still saw him as a kid. It worked in his favor.

The three agents nodded.

S.H.I.E.L.D. operated with precision, avoiding unnecessary involvement of ordinary people in supernatural events. This was part of their philosophy of protecting the world.

Luke's conditions weren't unreasonable.

If they'd known earlier that the so-called 'Apostle' was just a seven-year-old child, S.H.I.E.L.D. would have handled things more gently, avoiding the current situation entirely.

It had to be said—playing the role of a naughty kid had saved Luke from a lot of trouble.

If he had been an adult, these three wouldn't have been so easy to negotiate with.

There would be no friendly conversation—just a straight-up abduction, a trip to a black site, and the lightest punishment would be "picking up the soap." If he were considered a real threat, they'd just shoot him into the sun.

Hawkeye and Agent May turned to Black Widow. Since she was in charge of investigating the Apostle, it was her job to negotiate.

"I can agree to your condition on Nick's behalf right now. Do you have any other requests?" Black Widow asked.

"Then I think we can agree this past week was all a misunderstanding. No hard feelings, right?" Luke said with a bright, innocent smile.

Black Widow shot him an annoyed look and snorted. "Fine."

After spending these past days with Luke, it was hard to believe he was just seven.

Sometimes she even forgot his age. There were moments when she wondered if an adult was trapped in a child's body.

"Damn little devil," she muttered under her breath. She had suffered enough these past few days.

"Alright, then. Everyone go home and find your own mothers." Luke grinned. "Tell Nick Fury I'm safe. Tell him what you saw here. I hope we can all live in peace from now on and avoid any more misunderstandings."

"I'll tell him," Black Widow nodded.

"Christina, open the door." Luke snapped his fingers, and the cell door unlocked. "You're free to go."

"Can I have a look around?"

As they stepped out, Black Widow pointed at the half-built G-0 War Lord.

"A tour? Sure. But don't try to steal anything. I'll be watching you."

Hawkeye and Agent May, curious, followed her over.

It was time for them to witness the wonders of advanced technology.

Even though the G-0 War Lord was incomplete, it was still a shocking sight up close.

Standing at 5.5 meters tall, it lacked a head and right half, but its lower limbs were intact. Several mechanical arms were installing the left arm, and the three agents had to crane their necks to look up.

Without its outer armor, the mecha's intricate internal structure was fully exposed—an overwhelming sight.

They couldn't help but imagine what it would be like once it was fully operational.

"You built all of this by yourself?" May asked in astonishment.

She had already witnessed Luke's skills firsthand, but this was something else entirely.

This kid was a monster.

"Of course," Luke replied.

This beast was halfway done. With Christina's help, it had taken 15 days.

The technical complexity was on another level compared to his previous projects. It was at least ten times harder to build than the Storm.

The good news? It would be completed in another two weeks.

Just in time for the Hammer Military Expo.

"How big will this thing be when it's finished?" Hawkeye asked.

"As you can see, the head isn't built yet. When completed, it'll be six meters tall. Width… also six meters." Luke said.

No need to share detailed specs with them.

"Taller than an F-22? God…" Black Widow muttered in disbelief.

Luke thought to himself—this was just the beginning. Nowhere near Kissin's Strike Freedom, which was 18.88 meters tall.

Blueprints were limited, though, making modifications difficult. He'd already done his best to tweak the G-0 War Lord to fit his needs.

Meanwhile, the three S.H.I.E.L.D. agents were thinking: If this thing was completed and sold internationally, every country in the world would be scrambling for it.

A terrifying prospect.

And it was all in the hands of a mischievous child.

This was bad.

"You can stay for a few more days if you want. I don't mind. Give me two weeks, and it'll be done," Luke offered.

"Uh, no thanks. I believe you." Black Widow refused immediately.

She had no doubts about the genius of this little devil.

Stay here any longer? No way.

"What do you plan to do with it?" she asked warily.

This thing was dangerous. She needed to know Luke's intentions.

Luke answered bluntly, "To keep people like you from breaking into my house again. Like I said, I'm a good person."

Black Widow and the others weren't so sure.

They now had a new label for him—"bold and mischievous kid."

But after this incident, they added a prefix: "Can build mechas."

Most naughty kids played with toy models.

This one built the real deal.

A child wielding this much power needed strict ideological guidance—or one day, he might just poke a hole in the sky for fun.

Oh well… that was Nick Fury's problem to deal with.

The three of them suddenly felt relieved to have a boss above them.

You know what? Hawkeye thought the nickname "Boiled Egg" was pretty catchy. When he got back, he had to make sure it caught on in the bureau.

"Let's go," Black Widow said.

Little did Luke know, if he had delayed even a few more days, Nick Fury would have personally stormed the place.

For the past few days, reports had been coming in that May had never left the warehouse. But since there was no immediate danger to her life, S.H.I.E.L.D. teams had withdrawn.

Even stranger—May called in every day to report she was safe.

This completely baffled Fury.

What the hell was going on in that warehouse?

Nick Fury was losing sleep over this.

"Sir, they're back," Hill reported as she entered his office.

"Who?" Fury asked, momentarily confused.

"Agents Barton, Romanoff, and May."

Fury froze for a second before immediately saying, "Let them in."

All three came back together?

What the hell happened in that warehouse?

Fury had a thousand questions.
