This person must have absolute confidence in himself. The moment he pulled the trigger, he was already looking for another target.
But as soon as the shot rang out, he realised that Arthur had disappeared from his line of sight. Then, out of the corner of his eye, he saw Arthur appear in a place he should never have been.
"You..."
The gunman's face changed drastically!
Arthur was standing next to the researcher who had almost been shot. He opened his right hand to reveal a bullet in his palm.
He smiled slightly. "To put it bluntly, you all want to live, but it's difficult... but it's also not easy for you to die. You want to kill someone in front of me... did you ask for my permission like a good boy?"
The gunman let out a bitter laugh and pointed the gun at his own temple. "Hail Hydra!"
"That's unnecessary."
Arthur's voice came from beside him. The gunman, however, was confused. He had clearly tried to pull the trigger, but why had the shot not gone off?
A sudden, sharp pain hit him and he looked down at his right hand in shock. He found that, without realising it, the hand holding the gun had disappeared. The wound was clean and blood was flowing freely...
"Aaaahhhhhh!!!!"
Though the shot didn't go off, the screams rang out.
His eyes turned red as he collapsed in the pool of his own blood, glaring at Arthur.
Then he saw the fiendish man take two steps towards him, crouch down and open his mouth, inspecting his teeth as if he were examining livestock.
In fact, Arthur's actions were far more terrifying than the loss of his hand.
It meant that Arthur was... very familiar with them!
"Just as I thought."
After searching his mouth for a moment, Arthur eagerly pulled out a tooth that was clearly different from the others.
He squeezed it in his hand and wiped it disgustedly on the man's body. "You see, this is exactly what I hate about you. You put poison fangs in your mouth and they're all wet with saliva. Isn't that disgusting?"
The shooter was stunned, unable to react. If you're going to call it a poison tooth, shouldn't it be somewhere other than your mouth?
But at that moment, any attempt at rebuttal was futile.
In the next second, Arthur struck the gunman's body and he instantly vanished.
Arthur stood up and turned to the researcher who had almost died, reaching out to help him up. "See? If you cooperate, I'm actually a very easy-going guy."
The researcher, like everyone else present, was silent.
The severed hand, the gun on the floor and the nearby corpse seemed to have said all that needed to be said.
Really, 'so easy-going'!
"Now, tell me what these documents are about," Arthur said. "I've always known that Hydra was bold, after all they couldn't be such a terrifying force without such boldness and panache. But I still can't believe they would dare brainwash these rising business stars and political figures... Isn't that a bit brutal?"
"I... I..."
The researcher Arthur was helping up tried to shake his head and say he didn't know.
But the moment he made eye contact with Arthur's cold, terrifying gaze, he couldn't hold back. "No... That's not what I meant..."
"Then what did you mean?" Arthur asked, perplexed. Was he avoiding the question?
"I mean, they didn't kidnap businessmen and politicians... but after brainwashing them, they made them businessmen and politicians."
The scientist trembled as he spoke. "But I don't know much. I'm just an ordinary scientist. It's all hearsay."
"Who knows more?"
"No one..."
"Hm?" Arthur furrowed his brow. "What do you mean?"
"Our supervisor, he was just killed by you."
"'What do you mean 'killed by me'? When the hell did I kill a superviser?" Arthur blinked in surprise. He had this ability too?
"The only thing left is his hand," The scientist said quickly.
Arthur nodded in recognition, and a satisfied smile appearing on his face. "Good, you're obedient. I like obedient people. Come here, I want to show you something interesting."
Confused, the researcher tilted his head, only to have his neck slashed the next moment.
Arthur looked around at the other researchers and grinned. "Time is limited, excuse me all. This is your only chance to cooperate."
No sooner had he finished speaking than Arthur had a sword in his hand.
Ten seconds later, he wiped the blood from his face, glanced at the camera in the corner of the room and noticed that no one had entered yet. Obviously, no one on the outside had discovered what was happening inside.
That was good news.
Arthur found an encrypted folder on the computer where the files were stored. The encryption method required an iris scan.
He pulled out the "Arm-less Hero" from the Disassemble space, opened his eyelids for a scan, and the folder was successfully unlocked.
The contents of the encrypted files were far more detailed than anything he had seen before.
The source of the test subjects, the positions they were assigned after success, even the business plans, methods for dealing with failures and the detailed list of names.
Arthur took a deep breath, put the "Arm-less Hero" back in the Disassemble space, and tapped his wristband lightly. A red scanning light appeared. He aimed it at the port and the next second a virtual reading page appeared.
This device, capable of controlling Šumer, was essentially a portable computer.
Otherwise, Tony's communications software wouldn't have been able to install.
After choosing to copy the files, the process was completed in less than three seconds.
"Excellent performance. It's even faster than the setup I spent over eight thousand dollars on," Arthur mused, but then suddenly smiled. "What would happen if they lost this?"
It was an interesting thought, but he didn't dwell on it. He casually formatted the computer, gave it a deep clean and physically destroyed the entire device. Then, with a flash of his figure, he disappeared.
The reason for this was simply to annoy Hydra - it was just a bit of harmless fun. Arthur didn't believe that they only had this one copy of the data.
If they did, then it was now completely under his control... including the hypnosis commands and the method of transmitting instructions.
...
Later, Arthur rejoined the search party, but in a different guise.
Eventually, the underground research facility would be discovered. He had previously used the appearance of a patrol soldier, but now, still wearing that face, he was easily recognised as he tried to deceive the people outside.
After changing his appearance, he continued his search... but as he searched, he eventually disappeared without a trace.
When he was sure no one was around, he released Black the Car, jumped into it and drove off.
In the Disassemble space, the "Abomination" stood silently. Arthur smiled softly, but then his expression darkened.
"The events of tonight - the loss of the Abomination, the damage to the underground lab - Hydra will probably connect these two things... If I continue to use the Abomination on Earth, it will definitely be noticed."
After setting the car to automatic, he closed his eyes. "Then I'll have to deal with Hydra first... Alexander Pierce... Oh, and before that I have to meet Harry."
