Chapter 228: Chapter 228: Reinforcements

Apart from Stark's genius-level intellect, he was no different from an ordinary person. This kind of high-intensity work could genuinely lead to sudden death.

"Sigh, well, I'll let it slide this time since it's for the sake of our legion. But I don't want to see this happen again. You'll encounter more strange and unusual equipment in the future. If you keep exhausting yourself like this to study every single one, you won't live long," Han Yu said bluntly.

Stark didn't argue because he knew Han Yu was right.

Quickly changing the subject, Stark asked, "So, what brings you here this time?"

"Danger is approaching. You haven't been watching the news, have you?"

Han Yu glanced around the workshop, then walked over to Stark's workstation. He tapped on the computer a few times and pulled up a news report.

The news covered the sudden evaporation of the S.H.I.E.L.D. building and the massive crater left behind. Such a significant event couldn't be kept under wraps, and now every news channel was broadcasting reports about it.

"W-What happened here?"

Staring at the bottomless pit shown on the screen, Stark felt a chill run down his spine. The crater was enormous, having completely vaporized the island where S.H.I.E.L.D. once stood.

Nearby rivers had flowed into the hole, draining entirely and exposing layers of long-settled debris on the riverbeds.

Han Yu sighed softly and explained the situation. In fact, the incident had occurred barely an hour ago. Pepper usually didn't pay attention to such news, so she hadn't seen the reports either.

"So, they've officially declared war..."

Hearing that the enemy had sent two trusted generals who, upon failure, self-detonated the energy hidden within their bodies, Stark was left speechless by such ruthless decisiveness.

"But what do we do now? Their invasion is happening so quickly, and the battle suit research has just started. It's nowhere near mass production capability."

Stark began to worry. Even having a few months had seemed like a short timeline, but now the enemy's first wave had already struck. The second and third waves probably weren't far behind.

For all he knew, the enemy's main forces could already be on their way. Spending more time on battle suit research under such circumstances would be futile.

"Don't worry, I have someone in mind. For now... freshen up, get some good sleep, and then I'll take you somewhere to find reinforcements!" Han Yu said.

"I can go right now..."

Stark had just taken a step when his legs suddenly gave out. If Han Yu hadn't reacted quickly to catch him, Stark would've collapsed to the floor.

He began to breathe heavily, the consequences of days of intense work finally catching up with him.

"Tony!" Pepper cried out in concern, rushing over to check on him.

"I-I'm fine, just a bit of... a rapid heartbeat," Stark waved weakly, trying to downplay his condition. With Han Yu's support, he made his way to a bed that had been ready but rarely used. He sat down heavily.

"Rest first. Once you're awake, we'll go," Han Yu said.

Stark nodded silently. He knew that if he insisted on going now, Han Yu probably wouldn't take him. The only thing he could do was rest.

With that, he lay down and quickly fell into a deep sleep, his body clearly exhausted.

Stark slept for a full thirteen hours. When he woke up, he heard Han Yu chatting with J.A.R.V.I.S.

"You're awake. How are you feeling?" Han Yu greeted with a light smile.

"Great. I'm starving. I'll grab something to eat, take a quick shower, and then we can head out!"

After Han Yu forced him to stop working intensely, Stark's exhaustion and hunger finally caught up with him. Now that he was well-rested, his appetite had returned in full force.

After Stark freshened up, the two of them headed to a burger joint and began feasting. With Stark footing the bill, Han Yu didn't hold back and ordered the pricier items.

Since Stark made no effort to disguise himself, his presence quickly attracted a crowd both inside and outside the burger shop. Many people wanted to approach for autographs and photos, but they were taken aback by the duo's voracious eating.

On their small table were stacked around ten burgers, five or six servings of fries, a pizza large enough to feed four people, and three or four cups of cola.

If they hadn't recognized Stark sitting there, they might have mistaken them for homeless men who hadn't eaten in months. It was an impressive amount of food.

Han Yu had a massive appetite. Though, as someone who had ascended to godhood, he no longer needed material sustenance to maintain his life, he still kept the habit of having three meals a day plus a midnight snack. After all, eating was one of the few pleasures he still enjoyed.

By the end of the meal, Han Yu had devoured eight burgers, four servings of fries, half a pizza, and two cups of cola. Feeling satisfied, he asked Stark, "Are you full?"

"Stuffed. Let's go," Stark replied, nonchalantly licking his fingers without a hint of embarrassment.

Who says rich people only indulge in gourmet cuisine? Fast food burgers were among Stark's favorites, and he frequented this burger joint quite often.

Hearing this, Han Yu nodded, pulled out his Green Lantern ring, and slipped it on. A burst of green light enveloped the two of them in front of the stunned onlookers, and they shot out of the entrance.

Watching the green light streak into the sky and vanish from sight, it took a while before someone in the crowd muttered blankly,

"That was awesome!"

...

"Where are we going to find reinforcements?" Stark asked during their flight.

He hadn't had the chance to ask earlier since they were busy eating, but now he seized the opportunity.

"Wakanda," Han Yu replied with a light chuckle.

"Wakanda? What for? As far as I know, that's just a third-world country, right?"

In Stark's memory, he had come across information about Wakanda. He only knew it as an underdeveloped African nation, primarily agricultural, where many modern technologies were virtually non-existent throughout the citizens' lifetimes.

The fact that Han Yu sought reinforcements from such a place left Stark baffled.

"That's just their facade. In reality, they're the most technologically advanced nation on Earth. Yes, you heard me right—the most advanced. No exaggeration!" Han Yu said with a grin.

Stark was speechless. If anyone else had said this, he might have laughed out loud. But since it was Han Yu, it made Stark question everything he knew.

Whether it was Han Yu's homeland, Jiuzhou, or America, both were globally renowned powerhouses. He had never heard of any country surpassing them in technological prowess.
