Marvel: Batman x Ironman

Chapter 21: Sentinel X

Across the world, Bruce and Harley moved in tandem, even if they were miles apart. In Russia, Harley shattered one of Magneto's largest armories, easily tearing through steel and reinforced walls as if they were paper. She smashed tanks and destroyed weapons depots, leaving nothing but wreckage behind.

Meanwhile, in Africa, Bruce infiltrated a massive sentinel factory in the deserts of Sudan. Using his superior speed and strength, he dismantled the sentinels in production, one by one, before they even activated. He hacked into the factory's systems, planting viruses that would render Magneto's sentinels useless. By the time the facility exploded in a cloud of fire and smoke, Bruce had already moved on to his next target.

As the days went by, their coordinated attacks began to take a toll on Magneto's forces. Supply lines were cut, communication networks were shattered, and entire regions were plunged into darkness. Magneto's empire was collapsing from within, and the resistance knew it.

..

[Scandinavia]

In her last mission, Harley found herself in Norway, facing a research facility that housed some of Magneto's most dangerous tech. She kicked down the entrance, her mallet slung over her shoulder as she casually strolled through the building.

Inside, a group of Magneto's engineers froze, staring wide-eyed at the intruder. "Well, hello boys," Harley grinned, spinning her mallet. "Guess what time it is?"

Before they could react, Harley was on them. She didn't need to destroy the entire facility—just enough to set back their progress for months. She smashed servers, destroyed prototypes, and set charges all over the place.

As she walked away from the burning wreckage, she couldn't help but admire her handiwork. "And that's how ya make a statement," she muttered, flying into the sky, heading back to their rendezvous point.

..

[Canadian Wilderness]

Bruce's final target was buried deep in the Canadian wilderness—a secret research facility where Magneto was developing something dangerous. Something that couldn't be allowed to see the light of day.

He moved through the snowy forest, taking out patrols and disabling defenses as he made his way to the core of the facility. Inside, he found what he'd expected—advanced tech, possibly stolen from Wakanda, meant to enhance Magneto's war machine.

Bruce extracted the data and planted charges at the base of the facility's power core, making sure that when it went down, it wouldn't just disable the research—it would destroy it completely.

As he activated the detonator, he flew into the sky, the entire facility collapsing in on itself behind him.

Within a matter of days, Bruce and Harley had torn down the pillars of Magneto's war machine. From Europe to South America, Africa to the Arctic, their attacks left Magneto's empire in tatters. They went a bit further and ended up destroying more facilities than they had originally planned.

..

Bruce regrouped with Harley at the rendezvous point. She was grinning as usual, but Bruce could see the glint of exhaustion in her eyes. She was still struggling with her power.

They had done the impossible—crippled Magneto's operations on a global scale. But it wasn't over yet. Magneto was still out there, and now his eyes would be focused squarely on them.

Bruce turned to Harley. "He'll come for us next."

Harley twirled her mallet, her grin returning. "Let him come. We've got a lot more surprises up our sleeves."

And with that, they prepared for the next phase of their mission.

....

[Wakanda – Magneto's War Room]

The air in Wakanda crackled with tension, heavy with the expectation of impending conflict. Inside a subterranean war room, deep beneath the Wakandan capital, Magneto stood at the center of a massive holo-map, his eyes fixed on the flashing indicators marking the locations of his fallen facilities across the globe. Every flashing red dot signified a base destroyed, an asset lost, and a significant blow to his empire. His grip tightened around the armrest of his chair, the metal twisting and groaning under the pressure of his magnetic power.

"They've dismantled nearly half of our infrastructure," a young mutant engineer reported, his voice shaky, unable to meet Magneto's eyes. "Supply lines in South America, communication hubs in Africa, research facilities in Europe... all gone."

Magneto turned to the assembled commanders in the room, his voice low but sharp. "Two individuals… only two… have dismantled everything I've built. And all of you stood by, helpless." No one dared to reply. Some were holding their breaths in fear of getting killed on the spot. But, Magneto calmed down and took a deep breath. "This was not random," he finally said after a brief pause, his voice low but commanding. "Whoever is responsible knew exactly where to strike."

One of his aides nodded. "The attacks were surgical. They avoided unnecessary damage and only targeted our most critical infrastructure. Energy grids, production lines—every target was precise."

Magneto's gaze hardened. "Do we have any leads?"

"We've gathered surveillance footage from the destroyed sites," the aide replied, bringing up the first feed on the central display. The image was shaky but clear enough to show a figure moving through a dense jungle. The man in the footage decimated the South American base with brutal efficiency. He was unbothered by energy blasts, heat vision slicing through walls and soldiers alike.

Magneto's eyes narrowed. This man, whoever he was, possessed powers beyond what was typical even for mutants. There was no hesitation in his movements—just calculated destruction.

"Who is he? Where did he obtain such power? How did he destroy the sentinels like paper?" Magneto asked, scanning the room. His advisors shifted uncomfortably.

"We're still analyzing the footage," the aide said, "but there's no match in any of our databases. He's... an unknown."

Magneto's expression darkened. "And the woman... Harley Quinn... She took Mystique away. Any info on her or Mystique?"

Another feed replaced the first, this one from a logistics hub in Eastern Europe. It showed a chaotic scene—explosions, torn vehicles, and in the midst of it all, a woman wielding a massive mallet, laughing as she dismantled everything in her path. She moved with erratic energy, dodging bullets, taking down structures with ease.

"Her origins or how she gained these abilities, we're in the dark. As for their location, we are running blind here. Someone hacked and infected our system with multiple unknown viruses. We are completely cut out from our surveillance system," one of the mutants answered.

Magneto watched Harley's manic laughter fill the screen. She was unpredictable, dangerous, a wild card—but there was a method to her madness. She wasn't just destroying aimlessly; she was following a plan, a carefully orchestrated strike on his resources. The room was quiet as the weight of his words settled in. Magneto's empire was vast, his grip on the world's technology and resources unmatched. But now, it was unraveling at the hands of two unknowns who seemed to be working together, methodically dismantling everything he had built.

"Double our defenses in Wakanda," Magneto ordered, turning away from the display. "I want sentinels activated and every available mutant ready for combat. Whoever they are, if they come for us here, we'll be prepared. And prep Sentinel X. It's time to show these newbies what it's like to face real power."

...

[Sentinel development lab]

The lab that housed Magneto's Sentinel X project was situated in the heart of Wakanda, a sprawling facility encased in vibranium-reinforced walls. It was not hidden, unlike many of Magneto's other bases. Instead, it stood proudly in the open, guarded by 50 sentinels. The lab was equipped with cutting-edge defenses—plasma cannons capable of vaporizing anything that came within their range, sonic disruptors designed to disorient and disable any intruders, and shield generators that could create an impenetrable barrier over the entire facility.

Inside the lab, deep beneath the surface, the atmosphere was tense. Scientists and engineers moved in hurried silence, their faces pale as they worked tirelessly on the final stages of Sentinel X. This wasn't just another iteration of the sentinels Magneto had deployed across the world. This was something far more dangerous.

The Omega-class sentinels, which Magneto had relied on for years, were formidable machines. They were designed to adapt to superhuman abilities, evolving in combat to counter whatever power was thrown at them. But even they had limits. The Omega series could be overwhelmed with sheer force, especially by beings who could strike faster than the machines could adapt. Bruce and Harley's recent assault had proven that.

Sentinel X, however, was different.

Dr. Elara Mensah, a mutant scientist with a mind as sharp as any machine, oversaw the project. She had worked closely with Magneto to design this new series, integrating Wakandan technology and utilizing the vast resources Magneto had stolen. Her team stood around a central console, watching as the final tests were completed.

"Initiate power-up sequence," Dr. Mensah ordered.
