Marvel Ace

Chapter 3: Operation Engine

Ace then tackled the man wearing the red visor called Cyclopus.

Cyclopus was powerful but he was still inexperienced as until now he was working with a team full of super-powered mutants.

He was caught by surprise.

"Hey. Boys knock it off." Jean Grey who is also known as Marvel Girl tries to intervene and stop the two from fighting.

However, words did not reach them.

As a shield agent, Ace was supposed to be able to get an overwhelming advantage over an inexperienced Cyclops who had only started to become an X-men just recently.

But this was not the case.

Although Cyclopus was still very inexperienced he was more than capable enough to prevent Ace from completely overwhelming him as the two wrestled.

Ace still had the upper hand as he was able to prevent the Cyclops from using his optic blast as the two fought.

His body was never facing Cyclopes's visor directly as Ace was pushing Cyclopes's face away from the direction of his body whenever it looked like he was in the range of the optic blast.

Both he and Cyclopus know that the moment Cyclops was able to land an optic blast the fight would have been over.

But suddenly the two were separated as a powerful invisible force pushed the two far away.

Knocking both Ace and Cyclopus into a nearby wall.

Not with enough force to break it but with enough force that they weren't able to get back at each other throat immediately.

"Stop." It was Jean Grey who decided to use her telekinesis ability when she found out they were not going to listen to her.

I need a close-range weapon like a dagger, tonfa or brass knuckle. I would not be in this situation if I could take him down faster. Ace thought in his mind.

And what was that ability? How do you even fight against that? He also thought as he looked at Jean Grey.

"Consider yourself lucky that Jean didn't take you threatening her life personally," Cyclops said to Ace as he got up.

"You stop too. I am more than capable enough to defend myself. After all, I am not a weak girl. Remember we are supposed to be recruiting him not antagonising him." Jean said to Cyclopus.

Ace noticed that there was some sort of spark between the two by listening to the conversation between them.

But he was unable to capitalise on it as there was no way that it could be used as a weakness to defeat them in the situation that he currently was in.

"I am sorry about that," Jean said to Ace.

Although Ace was in the wrong she was still willing to apologise for Cyclopus's actions as she respected her mentor Professor Charles Xavier.

Charles Xavier wished for a world, in which every mutant and human lived together in harmony.

Ace didn't reply to her.

He was looking at her like a potential threat that he needed to defeat in the future.

Getting all of his bones broken by the Hulk gave him a paranoid personality trait.

He didn't fear death as he survived the encounter with Zemo and the Hulk.

He knew he had the ability that allowed him to survive almost anything.

But he didn't want to reexperience the feeling of being powerless and not having control of the situation he was in.

"This is our business card. If you ever change your mind please contact us." She said as she handed a card to Ace that said Xavier's School for the Gifted Youngsters.

"I will keep that in mind." He replied.

"Let's go, Jean," Cyclopus said as he left while pulling Jean's hand.

Ace looked at the two as they walked away.

"Laser beams and telekinesis. I wonder what kinds of mutant abilities exist in this world. Is it ok for an organization like that to exist?" He said that he looked at the business card that he was given.

"Hmm. I know what I have to do first." He said.

He then looked at his mobile phone and saw that there were a few calls from the moving company that he missed.

"..."

-------------------------------

A few hours later after finishing setting up the furniture in his new house, he washed himself, changed his clothes and got out.

He went to the mall to buy some books and newspapers that have to do with space travel and the satellite.

"Reed Richard's Theory on alien languages. No. Satellite communications systems. Now this is more like it. I probably would be able to build one myself if I could gather some information from books like this." Ace said.

Ace knew that he was not smart so he decided to use his ability to construct a satellite by deciphering the hardware through images from various books, trying to code the functions by using references from the satellite books, coding books, and Internet of Things books.

He also bought all kinds of books written by many famous scientists or geniuses such as Reed Richards, Victor von Doom, Richard Starks, Henry Pym etc.

Hoping to use the knowledge that he would gain from them in the future.

He doesn't have enough intelligence to make his own technology so the best thing that he can do is try to copy from the other's technology and mix and match to find something that will even surpass the original.

He would eventually have to confront them in the future if he decided to steal as much technology as he could from them but now that is the only way he could make himself stronger.

--------------------------

Then after buying all the necessary books, materials and rations, Ace puts himself into hibernation for a few days to construct the most important invention that would change the lives of many heroes and villains on that day.

But he ran into a problem. A very huge one at that.

There was not a power source powerful enough to run his new intention.

Even the Ark reactor was not powerful enough to run the Satellite.

He copied the technology directly from Tony Stark meaning he lacked the necessary knowledge to update the technology of the Ark reactor himself.

At that time Tony Stark had already updated his devices and still had not shown blueprints in any kind of media.

"I should find an alternative power source." He said as he stopped his work on the satellite.

"And this thing is really hard to put to use. Should I just use it for powering up the house?" Ace said as he looked at the Ark Reactor.

He then sat on the sofa and turned on the TV.

The News was on. A famous news announcer called J.Jonah Jameson was casting important news.

The news showed superheroes named Spiderman and Daredevil fighting against each other on a rooftop while a group of criminals stole what is said to be the latest and most powerful engine called XB-390.

"Without the formula for fueling the engine, the plans are useless. Marauder as well as his partner Spiderman neglected to steal that formula." JJ said on the program in a very loud voice.

"Although I cannot prove it I am sure that Spiderman is the brains behind the Masked Marauder. I defy anyone to disprove me." He said in an authoritative tone as he slammed the table.

"The most powerful engine? I wonder." Ace thought for a while.

He said that the formula for the fuel that can be used in the engine. Still in their hands. This means that the criminal who stole the engine has to target that place again if they want to do anything with the engine.

He then walked towards his closet and looked at his shield stealth suit.

"Hmmm. I would be able to test whether or not it would work on the machine if I was able to get my head on that engine." Ace said.

He then changed into his stealth suit.

Unlike his regular bulletproof shield uniform the Stealth suit doesn't have the Shield's logo present on it because it is created for infiltration missions which saves him some time as he does not need to modify the suit to hide his former affiliation.

"Now I need something to cover my face," Ace said.

He then saw a black hoodie in the corner of his closet.

"This will do for now." He said as he wore the hoodie on top of the stealth suit covering his blonde hair.

Then he gets some charcoal from the fireplace and applies some charcoal dust to his face around his eyes.

He then looked in the mirror to see if he could still recognise himself.

"Perfect." He said.

Even he was unable to recognise himself that was in the reflection.

His hair was hidden by the hood from the hoodie. The stealth suit hides his muscular figure. The dark shading around his eyes prevents him from getting recognized even if someone manages to remove the hood.

He wanted to disguise himself as he knew that he would not be able to defeat the two superheroes no matter how weak they were.

He was not even sure about beating the supervillain who stole the Engine in a head-on fight in hand-to-hand combat.

But he knew that it was not entirely impossible since the thief either had to work alongside Spiderman and Daredevil to accomplish his plans.

Or have to use Spiderman and Daredevil to distract each other while he carries out his plans.

He was not sure what the situation that was in the hand was but he knew that the one behind the operation was more of a planner than a fighter.

But he decided to try his luck anyway.

After all, as a former Shield Agent, he was confident that he would be able to get away amidst the chaos when push comes to shove.

He prepared a few pieces of equipment that he could use to stake out near the World Motors headquarters.

Those include the smoke bomb leftovers, the grabbling hook, the EMP device, an m24 sniper rifle and some bullets.

His desert eagle was low on ammo, he didn't want to use the AR in public and he still had not reassembled the leaser gun so this is his best choice was the sniper rifle.

"This would be my best bet," Ace said.

He was willing to go through with this plan of robbing the engine and the fuel formula because he knew an organization like Shield would not give much thought about catching a criminal for a company in New York.

Especially when they are dealing with worldwide threats like the Hydra, AIM, Masters of Evil, and many other supervillains each of whom is more threatening than the masked marauder.

"I could make this work if I was able to get under their radar. Since it's been a while since I left Shield I don't think anyone is keeping an eye on me now." Ace said.

He then put on gloves to prevent leaving fingerprints, and wore sunglasses for extra eye protection, alongside a mask that covered his mouth.

It was overkill and was only slightly one step away from dawning a colourful costume but to him, it did not matter.

Getting the engine while not making him an international criminal is more important.

------------------------

The costume-wearing superhero called Spiderman was waiting near the world's motor office to capture the masked Marauder who he thinks is going to show up.

However, he didn't see the Masked Marauder but instead saw Ace who was wearing his disguise.

That person looked suspicious. Spiderman thought.

Just as he was about to go and integrate Ace he was stopped by someone that he is very familiar with.

It was Daredevil. Another superhero who dawns the red costume just like him.

"What do you think you are doing Spiderman?" Daredevil said.

"It seems like you have something to do with the masked marauder too since you show up to support him," Daredevil said.

"Don't try to confuse me you evil villain," Spiderman said as he took a swing as Daredevil.

The two heroes who were on the same side started to fight because of a misunderstanding.

Both of them think the other person has turned to the evil side and is working for the villain.
