Martian Archer

Chapter 29: The Trainer

Leon sat on a bench, staring at his teammates.

Goro was stretching, cracking his back with a groan.

Rei stood silently, her arms crossed, watching the academy courtyard with unreadable eyes.

"We have a long way to go…"

Before Leon could speak, a new voice cut through the air.

"So, you're the new team?"

Leon looked up.

A man in his late thirties stood before them, wearing a black training uniform. His short silver hair and piercing blue eyes gave him a sharp, intimidating look.

The man smirked.

> "Name's Klein. I'll be your combat trainer."

Klein crossed his arms, studying them.

"I took a look at your scores."

Leon felt a chill run down his spine.

"And?"

Klein sighed.

"Well, you're not the worst team I've seen, but you're close."

Leon clenched his jaw.

Rei simply shrugged.

Goro scratched his head.

"Oof. That bad, huh?"

Klein smirked.

> "Don't worry, I like underdogs. Let's get started."

Lesson One: Tactical Movement

Klein led them to an empty training ground filled with wooden obstacles, sandbags, and cover points.

"Combat isn't just about individual skill. It's about working as a team."

He pointed at Leon.

"Archers like you need to stay mobile. Keep your distance, but don't be predictable."

Leon nodded.

"Rei, as a swordsman, you're the frontliner. You need to pressure enemies and create openings."

Rei gave a simple nod.

"And Goro… well, you need to take hits without dying."

Goro laughed.

I can do that!"

Klein snapped his fingers.

"Alright. Let's see how you move."

The drill began.

Leon sprinted from cover to cover while taking shots at moving targets.

Rei practiced coordinating her attacks with Leon's covering fire.

Goro worked on blocking incoming strikes while keeping his teammates safe.

It was chaotic at first, but slowly… they improved.

Lesson Two: Archery Drills

After movement training, Klein set up archery drills for Leon.

"Long-range archery is your weak spot. Fix that."

Leon fired at the targets. His mid-range shots were precise.

But his lonh-range shots? Inconsistent.

Klein stepped behind him.

"Adjust your stance. Faster release. Don't over-aim."

Leon took a deep breath.

He fired again

Bullseye.

Lesson Three: Sparring

To end the session, Klein paired Leon and Rei for a sparring match.

"You two need better teamwork. Fight."

Rei's strikes were fast and efficient.

Leon struggled at first but started reading her movements.

Rei narrowed her eyes.

"He's adapting?"

For the first time, she seemed impressed.

As the sun set, Klein smirked.

"Not bad for day one."

Leon wiped sweat from his brow.

He glanced at Rei.

She gave a small nod.

A tiny sign of respect.

Leon smiled.

They were finally becoming a team. But there is some off.....
