Chapter 406: Phenomenon
Chapter 406: Phenomenon
At this moment.
Xu Lian and the thirty-five Supreme Beings found themselves in a desolate, mountainous region, their emotions a mix of shock and relief.
At the moment the crimson vortex collapsed, the thirty-six Heavenly War God Battle Formation had been swallowed into it. At first, they had thought that they were doomed to die, but now that they realized that they were still alive and unharmed, they couldn’t help but feel immense joy.
What shocked them, however, was the discovery that their cultivation had vanished!
Even stranger, their clothes were gone, their faces were covered in fur, and their entire bodies began sprouting hair, making them resemble apes!
“Where is this place?”
“Why have we become like this?”…
The faces of all thirty-six of them darkened.
For Supreme-level experts, growing fur was a minor issue – after all, the eerie transformations they had previously endured were far more excruciating. But now, not only were they covered in fur, their cultivation had completely disappeared, a reality they simply could not accept.
How could those who once stood at the pinnacle of power endure being reduced to mere mortals?
Dantai Wujie, the Supreme of the Yin Dynasty, frowned deeply as he examined himself. “Have you noticed? Aside from losing our cultivation and growing fur, even our eerily transformed Supreme bodies have reverted to normal human forms.”
Heaven’s Treasury Supreme lamented bitterly, “I’d rather keep my eerily transformed Supreme body than be stuck with such a weak mortal frame.”
Xu Lian sneered. “Do you really think you get to choose? You should be grateful just to be alive—it’s like your ancestors’ graves are smoking with good fortune. Stop being picky. Who do you think you are?”
Heaven’s Treasury Supreme frowned. “Nine Heavens Divine Son, is this really the time for you to target me?”
“…” Xu Lian had indeed instinctively replied. After all, there was enmity between the Sacred Land of Heaven’s Treasury faction and the Nine Heavenly Sacred Lands faction, and this animosity had inevitably influenced him. Every time he saw the Supreme of Heaven’s Treasury, he felt an inexplicable irritation.
Xue Ranfu, the Blood Sea Supreme, coldly remarked, “We’re all in the same predicament now. There’s no point in targeting each other. The priority is to figure out where we are, how to get back, and how to restore our cultivation.”
Other Supremes also began chiming in to mediate.
“Nine Heavens Divine Son, stop provoking Heaven’s Treasury Supreme.”
“Only by working together can we overcome this crisis…”
Xu Lian chuckled weakly. “Fine.”
Although his cultivation had disappeared, he discovered that the divine essence within the left-hand holy bone of the Legendary Ancient Holy Land and the skull left behind by the Supreme of the Divine Race had not completely faded – they retained a faint trace of divinity. This gave him an advantage. If he wished to kill these now mortalized Supremes, it would be as easy as turning his palm.
Moreover, while all the other Supremes now resembled old ape-like creatures, Xu Lian alone remained a “young ape”, strong and robust – an additional advantage.
“The concentration of spiritual energy here is extremely high. Obviously, this isn’t an ordinary place. Even though we’ve lost our cultivation, we can still sense the presence of spiritual particles.”
“This isn’t the world we came from. It might be a secret realm or some kind of ancient ruins.”
“That would explain it. This secret realm has an incredibly strong suppressive force that temporarily stripped us of our cultivation. In addition, this place has other bizarre properties, such as causing us to grow fur.”
“Not only have we changed physically, but all the Supreme Artifacts and storage pouches we carried with us have vanished as well. That’s another anomaly.”
The Supremes discussed it fervently.
Xu Lian asked, “Since we’re still alive, the Stone Chopsticks and Crimson Vortex shouldn’t have been destroyed either. Where are they?”
At these words, all the Supreme Beings fell silent.
Their faces shifted repeatedly, revealing their unease. They had deliberately avoided addressing this unsettling question until now, but upon recalling it, they were filled with dread, their bodies chilled to the bone, trembling involuntarily.
If the stone chopsticks were to strike them now… they wouldn’t even have the strength to resist.
Like that.
Xu Lian and the thirty-five Supreme Beings vigilantly scanned their surroundings, on high alert for any unusual phenomena.
The landscape before them was a vast expanse of rolling mountains that stretched endlessly into the horizon. The trees were exceptionally tall, giving off an aura of primeval wilderness.
In the sky, wild birds occasionally swooped low, seemingly in search of prey. In the sunlight, their massive shadows loomed ominously over the ground.
From the distant ravines, the roar of savage beasts echoed intermittently.
Without their cultivation, the thirty-five Supreme Beings trembled… fear gripping their hearts. If their powers had remained intact, what need would they have to fear these ferocious birds and beasts?
But now, they were mere mortals – ape-like creatures, to be exact. A single attack from one of these predators would be enough to end their lives!
This overwhelming sense of vulnerability and helplessness, long forgotten in their lifetimes as Supreme Beings, returned with a vengeance. It was deeply unpleasant.
Heaven’s Treasury Supreme stammered, “Could it be… we’ve crossed through time and space and arrived in the Primordial Era?”
The other Supremes’ pupils contracted, sharing the same ominous premonition.
What kind of power could strip them, the Supreme Beings, of their cultivation and reduce them to ordinary humans?
There was no doubt-only a force capable of transcending time and space, beyond comprehension, could achieve such a feat.
After all, the crimson vortex and stone chopsticks of the Qian Dynasty’s hidden foundation were relics left over from the Primordial Era. It was entirely possible that they had disrupted the flow of time and space, pulling them back to that ancient era.
If they had truly been transported to the Primordial Era, then everything would make sense.
During the Primordial Era, their ancestors were still primitive beings living off raw flesh and blood. Their descendants didn’t even exist yet, so of course there wouldn’t be any cultivation.
Similarly, during the Primordial Era, their Supreme Artifacts and Storage Pouches hadn’t been forged yet, which explained why those items had vanished.
But why hadn’t they disappeared altogether? Why had they transformed into ape-like beings instead?
Perhaps this was a phenomenon caused by temporal disorder?
Of course, if they had completely disappeared, it wouldn’t mean that they had been transported to the Primordial Era – it would mean that they had perished.
Xue Ranfu, the Supreme of the Blood Sea, grew somewhat excited. “If this is indeed the Primordial Era, then perhaps we can meet our first ancestors and receive their inheritance and guidance!”
Dantai Wujie, the Supreme of the Yin Dynasty, doused his enthusiasm with cold water. “At present, we have no cultivation whatsoever, and our physical bodies are weak. In these wild mountains teeming with ferocious birds and beasts, our immediate priority should be survival.”
In contrast, Xu Lian remained relatively calm. At the very least, his head was hard enough, and his left hand retained some divine essence, making him stronger than the others. Even if he encountered ferocious beasts, he had the means to defend himself. Moreover, he had an additional safeguard: as long as the laws of the Divine Kingdom remained, he would not perish – he couldn’t die.
The Supremes were indeed extraordinary individuals, each possessing the indomitable spirit of a true powerhouse. Otherwise, they would never have ascended to become Supreme Beings. After their initial shock subsided, they quickly regained their composure.
One by one, they picked up stones from the ground and began sharpening them. When the stones were sharp enough, they cut branches and vines and tied the sharpened stones to the branches to make crude stone axes and knives for self-defense.
They also tied branches and leaves around their bodies to provide at least some minimal protection from the elements, ensuring that they weren’t completely exposed.
Xu Lian followed suit, mimicking their actions. By sticking close to these veteran experts, he figured that he might just manage to survive and even thrive in this harsh environment.
