Chapter 43: Choices
Chapter 43: Choices
“What are you talking about?” Song 6 looked completely puzzled.
“Those people. And the ones in the cages?” Sun Jack’s words silenced everyone.
“Bro,” Song 6PUS placed a hand on Sun Jack’s shoulder and spoke earnestly, “Why are we here?”
“To make money.”
“Have we made money?”
“We have.”
“Then let’s go!”
Seeing Sun Jack turn and silently walk towards the exit of the underground garage, Song 6 let out a sigh of relief and hurried to follow. “That’s right. Whose money isn’t earned through someone else’s suffering?”
“And what gives you the right to decide for them? Maybe they like being exploited, enjoy being part of the human mines.”Outside the garage, Sun Jack stopped again in the heavy rain, feeling something wasn’t right. Tapai stood quietly beside him.
“Hey, are you two coming or not? Or are you planning to walk back?” Four Ai asked, a cigarette dangling from her lips.
Sun Jack glanced at his reflection in the rainwater and then at the others. It seemed there wasn’t much difference between them anymore.
At that moment, the Father approached, moving his towering frame to stand before Sun Jack. He stared at him through his glasses. “God tells me your heart is in turmoil.”
“Shouldn’t it be? After being here for so long, I’m starting to wonder—is it me who has the problem, or is it all of you?”
“Maybe you’ll be happier if you throw away some things,” Sun Jack said, voice conflicted.
“Sure, throwing things away is easy,” the Father replied. “But if you ever want to get them back, kid, that’s a different story.”
As he spoke, the Father raised his head to the sky. In the distance, a black dot was rapidly approaching.
It didn’t take long for the object to draw near—it was a cargo drone. It released a massive package mid-air.
The Father spread his arms, catching the falling package with ease before striding back into the underground parking lot without hesitation.
Sun Jack found himself staring at the Father’s retreating figure for the first time. On his back was an unmistakable religious symbol—an odd combination of a sickle, a hammer, and a cross.
“I don’t know what your choice is, but this is mine. God says: If a thing serves no purpose, it has no value!”
“What the h***! Father! What are you doing?!” Song 6PUS leaned halfway out of the car, yelling anxiously.
In the downpour, Sun Jack turned to look at Tapai, who was staring at him intently.
“I almost corrupted you. What did I say before?”
“You said you’d gut him alive.”
“Exactly. Tapai, mark this moment down. As a man, you must do what you say!” Sun Jack spun and charged back into the underground garage.
“Got it.”
Seeing this, Song 6 gasped sharply. “F***! What’s this kid doing now? King Kong! What the h*** did the Father just buy?!”
“He got a loan to buy an EMP drone and shield firmware. Looks like he’s ready to go hard against the Graffiti Gang.”
“What the hell? Are they cyber psychotics now?” Song 6PUS slammed the steering wheel in frustration.
“Hahaha.” Four Ai pulled a piece of gum from her pocket, popped it into her mouth, and started chewing. “The more I watch that kid, the more I like him. Really makes me want to screw him hard.” 𝐫𝙖𝐍ǒ𝐁Ě𝘚
“PUS, think of something fast. If we don’t do something soon, we’ll end up with nothing from either side.”
Meanwhile, Sun Jack had returned to the Graffiti Gang’s garage. The Father stood on the opposite side of the entrance.
The Father nodded approvingly at Sun Jack and tapped the garage door with his hand.
The rolling door lifted quickly. Inside, the gang members were bustling, moving supplies and relocating the mining operations. Clearly, they realized this spot was compromised and were preparing to move.
A woman with a large nose ring and prosthetic legs fashioned into blades approached, casually raising her gun at Sun Jack. “Back again? Forget something?”
“No, just delivering a package,” the Father said, presenting the parcel in his hands.
“A package?” The woman glanced at the markings on the package and turned to her comrades. “Hey! Did Wall-Tech send something again?”
Before anyone could respond, the Father tore the package open, revealing a spherical drone the size of a watermelon.
“Enjoy the high-power pulse!” The Father threw the drone into the air with all his might and quickly inserted three chips into his body.
The next moment, a massive broadband electromagnetic pulse erupted from the drone, flooding the entire garage with disabling radiation within a 100-meter radius. Every electronic device shut down instantly, including neural systems and prosthetics.
Though the Father had inserted shielding chips, it was Sun Jack, with barely any prosthetics, who moved fastest.
Sun Jack raised his blade and, with a single stroke, cleaved the woman in half.
He then charged forward, striking down the incapacitated gang members one by one. The garage was soon awash with blood.
As one wounded gang member stumbled to his feet and raised a handgun at Sun Jack’s back, a thunderous blast erupted. Hundreds of bullets tore the man’s upper body into chunks. It was the Father’s shotgun.
The two exchanged a silent nod before resuming their slaughter.
With the Father’s assistance, the process sped up, and the gang members were almost entirely eliminated.
At that moment, Tapai stumbled into the garage, swearing loudly. “D*** it! You b*****! Warn me next time when the range is this wide—I almost flatlined!”
“Didn’t I tell you to stay back?” Sun Jack replied, slicing through the data cables connected to the captives’ heads.
As Sun Jack rushed towards the cages, Tapai’s display turned red. He yanked Sun Jack back just as a shell zipped past, striking a nearby car and turning it into a blazing fireball.
The three turned simultaneously to face the attacker. Emerging from the debris was Hai Chao, clad in an exoskeleton armor that made him look like a three-meter-tall metallic giant.
“Did you really think an EMP could stop me? Dream on! My system has built-in Tier-3 interference shielding!”
Hai Chao stomped forward, activating the armor’s rear launcher. Smoky homing missiles shot into the air, looping around before targeting the trio.
“Hellfire X!” The Father pulled a silver orb from his coat and threw it outside. The homing missiles veered off course and followed the orb out.
Though the immediate threat was neutralized, Hai Chao was now upon them. Towering over Sun Jack, he raised his massive armored fist and brought it crashing down.
