Chapter 142: Preparations
A few days later
"Puuuuuuu!!!!!"
At the top most part of the royal Palace, a horn blew with an incredible majesty drawing the attention of the passer-bys.
This sight had been a common occurance in the duan city for the past few days. It was a sign that the long awaited sky festival was about to take off.
The sky festival was a massive city wide festival held in duan city about every couple years. In fact, in the past, the event would draw a multitude of powers all over the kingdom to come watch and participate.
However, at this junction the citizens didn’t know that the festival would still hold. So when they heard the horns they panicked. With the warlock crisis and all, the royalty still saw it fit to hold this festival? It was a ballsy yet smart move.
Everyone could feel the boiling tension in the underground. They knew things could only get worse so, alot of businesses and citizens had moved out of duan city tipping the ratio of warlocks to mages.
This was bad, duan city was too precious for them to lose to the warlocks so they decided to hold the festival to say to the citizens.
There is no need to worry we have everything under control and will even host a party to show you how relaxed we are.
"That’s the Dove guild crescent...its heading to the central City!!"
A passers-by pointed out an elegantly designed carrige speeding through duan cities streets towards the central City.
"Damn, Fire Sword mercenary company"
"Dalriss family flag!!!! Is the marquee in there?"
The crowd went wild watching several prominent organisations and families making their way to the central City.
Not only was the festival going to hold, it seemed like this years sky festival competition would be very special.
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Just as the whole city prepared for the events of the festival. A young man with white hair and a faceless mask could be seen making plans on his own.
"Why do you need so many explosive materials?"
In the main hall of the faystone household, Peri stood before Leon with a frown on her face. She and Leon had gone into business as she was tasked with selling the special herbs and creatures that spawned in the faystone mansion and dividing the profits with Leon.
It was a largely profitable venture, in fact she had made more money in this venture than she had in any other venture prior to this.
But for some reason, Leon kept asking her to buy strange materials that seemed to go Boom if it needed to.
So she grew very suspicious of leons activities.
Leon’s improvement....the way he went from a sword for hire to what he was now, was very strange indeed. She couldn’t help but he suspicious of his ultimate goal.
"Hahaha, there’s nothing really..... I just want to do some renovation here and there and as you know this place is a quite hard to change." Leon laughed off the question with a corny excuse.
Peri was a great business woman, but Leon wouldn’t trust her futher than he could throw her. He had to keep his plans tightly sealed from her.
"That’s not the least bit convincing" Peri said with a deep frown on her face.
"If that’s all, I’ll see you and the rest later" Leon ignored this look and shooed Peri off. But for safety sake, he would place some security around her.
So when she left he gave some subtle commands to a faceless mercenary at the side of his chair.
"Phewww"
A few minutes after she left, Leon heaved a sigh of relief before proceeding to stand up and walk towards a door at the side of the room.

He reached forward amd opened the door and continued walking around. There was a long hallway that branched into several other rooms in the great hall.
But after a while he finally stopped before one and opened the door slowly.
"Sighhhh, what are you guys doing here?" Leon said with a tinge of frustration in his voice.
"Hm? You think you cab control where and where i go to kid?"
Right in front of Leon, was a man will fiery blue hair and a look of nonchalance.
Bartholomew, A level 4 great Warlock.
"You....." Leon wanted to counter but was shirt of for words. Bartholomew was a level 4 great warlock.
Leon couldn’t tell him where and where he couldn’t be, but one thing was sure, Bartholomew’s movements was a big problem for Leon. He was already under investigation because of Alvin’s accusations, now two considerably strong warlocks were at his doors steps, if anyone found out, he would be toast.
"Caln down, no one saw us when we snuck in....and we can leave just as quietly" Beside Bartholomew, Leon’s seconds guest said.
Liana.
"Sigh!!" Leon blew out another breath of air then walked to the side of this dimly lit room and took a sit.
"What do you need?" Leon asked with a much calmer tone.
He couldn’t really chase then away, they were far too powerful. All he could do now was ask them what they wanted.
"We need you to come down to the undercity with us. You are ranked 16 on the warlock prodigies....you have to be there when we wreck the sky festival" Bartholomew said to Leon in a very serious manner.
The top prodigies of the warlock clans, were prodigies that stood as a sort of star to look up to amongst the warlocks of the younger generations. If one of then was absent during this important show of power it would be very disappointing.
Especially for Bartholomew who pronounced Leon a prodigy. Leon had to be present if not for anything, just to show respect.
"Hm? No I can’t do that, I have too many things going on right now. I just cant" Leon blatantly refused.
This wasn’t the first time they had invited him to this mission and this wasn’t the first time Leon had refused to go along with it.
He couldn’t risk all he had planned her for their course.
"Kid, you have to be more considerate. It’s the name of your blood serpent clan on the line here, make a sacrifice" Bartholomew continued pulling Liana into it.
He brought her here hoping that Leon might break character out of respect for his clan leader. At least that’s what he believed.
"I’m sorry, there’s no way I can help physically, but if you need money or any form of action I can maybe pull some strings" Leon shook his head again. His mind was made up and his plans were solid nothing could be done to steer him away from it.
Leon’s refusal for the second time caused the room to become slightly tense.
Both Bartholomew and liana had helped him when he needed to progress. Now he was acting like this, it seemed improper in their eyes.
"If I want you to come kid, you will come" this time, Bartholomew became genuinely angry forcing pressure on Leon’s body.
"Hm?" Seeing this change Leon frowned at Bartholomew. Bartholomew was threatening to take Leon by force?
"Sir.....Bartholomew, I’m not sure you know exactly where you are" Leon slowly rose up and met the fiery gaze of Bartholomew eye to eye.
"If you try anything stupid, the first person to act his right behind this door" Leon said calmly while pointing at the door behind him .
The door emitted an ominous dark aura like negative energy....and behind it was Leon’s kaga puppet.
Or to be more precise...the faystone ancestor.
This was a peak level 3 fighter.
"Then my partners father will react, next thing you know the entire central City knows you’re here....do you think the royalty will miss the opportunity to kill a level 4 warlock?"
Leon’s words were grounded in truth if they attack or try to capture him. It would quickly escalate and drag them all down.
"Hmmm" looking at the situation, Bartholomew sat right back down.
Leon had grown quite fast...how long had it been? He could now threaten a level 4 warlock and get away with it? It was absolutely absurd.
"Now I have several actions I will be taking during the festival that will definitely be beneficial to the warlock cause. But I will not be at your disposal to use....I hope you can find your way out"
Leon assured them that he was still on their side, and seeing that they couldn’t stop him from leaving he turned around to walk out of the room.
However, he didn’t expect the next few words to come out of Liana’s mouth to cause him to freeze.
" it is suspected that the old monster of the golden Griffin clan Broke through"
These words, they immediately sent a wave of shock through Leon causing his eyes to widen in shock.
It really had reached the tipping point before he knew it.
