Chapter 127: All too familiar.
"Yes, it should be fair."
"Let them fight, its the best idea"
"You’re the discipline of the great mage, act like it"
In 2.5 seconds the room devolved into complaints. The blade Demon’s words resonated with them all. No one wanted to be set aside just like that for someone who didnt merit it.
If Leon wanted to prove himself.
(Hmp!! Hypocrites)
Leon sneered, the prior fights were between people people on completely different world presumably arranged by them. Now it was his turn they were complaining.
"I’m also in agreement with this, everyone should show their worth" from the helm Leon expressed his stance. It seemed like he had been pressured by the crowd to give in.
"Good, I’m glad we agree, now let’s do it the proper way," the blade Demon smirked, his plan worked. Leon had given in, all that remained was for him to humiliate Leon by beating him up.
He pulled out his blade and walked towards the center of the hall with a welcoming yet mocking smile.
"This fool" Jade couldn’t help but shake her head in annoyance. The blade Demon had successfully alienated the most important corg in the wheel of their plan. She didn’t even know what to do if Leon lost.
"Hmmm? Why are you staring at me?" At the helm of the room Leon frown at the blade Demon. The guy was looking at him as if inviting him to fight.
"Don’t waste time, let’s fight and get this over with"
The blade Demon was fairly confident, during his fight against Alvin he had managed to maintain himself for more than 30 minutes. This was a peak level 2 mage with insane talent. Even though he lost his right hand in the process....he was still as powerful since he was left handed...but what have him the most confidence was Leon’s state when they got here.
Clearly, Alvin had beaten Leon to a pulp before Leon was saved by the guards, he could definitely beat Leon if he put in his all.
"Ohhh, you think you’re fighting me? You’re mistaken.....even if i wanted I wouldn’t be able to as you see I’m not longer at your level" Leon seemingly surprised said mockingly.
He knew the blade Demon wanted to fight him for the longest time, sadly he was now at the peak of level 2.....1 step away from entering the realm of elders .
"Hm?" As Leon said those words everyone of the level 3 mages knitted their brows and started at him.
It was only now that they were Coming to the realization that Leon was no longer at the middle stages.....this mana control....it was that of a peak level 2 mage!!!!!
"Stop the bullshit and come fight me!!" Annoyed at Leon’s stalling, the blade demon barked and dashed forward towards Leon.
But
"Wind work: sonic blast"
Leon streched his hand forward and released as bulk loaded of mana.
—Boom!!!
It resounded In the air and threw the blade Demon flying backwards at incredible speeds.
The power and status of a peak level 2 fighter was different from that of the rest....anyone at the peak of level 2 was to be respected because they were just 1 step away from reaching the stage of flight.
"It hasn’t been that long since he entered level 2....how did he get to the peak so fast?" Jade said slowly unknownly making these words resound in the heart of those around.
Leon was not ordinary....this speed he haf to be treated with respect, because in no time he would reach level 3.
The Elders immediately knew that they could no longer disrespect this young man.
"Hehe, sorry about the outburst.....as I was saying, we aren’t on the same level, but I do have someone in mind...." Leon looked down at the blade Demon’s figure with a mocking smile on his face.
This guy couldn’t have beaten him when he was at the middle stages, what could he do now that he was at the peak?
"Who could that be?" At the side Jade looked confused, Leon had someone he wanted to represent the middle stage? Who could that be?
"Say hello to my close friend...." Leon looked to his side.
All along a man with silver hair and a blur high quality amour could be seen standing looking down at the happenings below. They all thought him to be a guard of the faystone family, but he was not.
"This is carlson waterway, one of the talents of the waterway family, he will compete as a show of solidarity with our faceless mercenary company" Leon introduced.
That’s right, it was his old friend carlson.
With Leon’s help and new status as the caretaker of the faystone household, he was able to further elevate carlsons status in the waterway family....striking a sort of partnership.
"Waterway?"
"They are willing to step into this mess with us?"
"What kind of connections does this guy have?"
The waterway family was a powerful household in duan city...they had a peak level 3 mage and several other level 3 mages, coupled with the fact that they were a family of smiths.
They were in one word powerful and influential, why would they muddy their hands in the faceless mercenary company’s business especially with the presence of the dalriss family in the matter?
Were they not afraid?
—Dang
—Dang
Carlson hit the buttom of his spear to the floor and walked down to level with the angered blade Demon.
"Hmmm" carlson shook his head, Leon had embarrassed the blade Demon making him lose his cool. This fight, the blade Demon had already lost it.
"I’ll rip him to shredss then I’ll come for you!!!" The blade Demon pointed at Leon angrily.
He didn’t know this, but the entire crowd had suddenly shifted against him without his knowledge. They all wanted another peak level 3 mage on their side, it was a sure way to win.
They would rather the blade Demon step down. But they couldn’t really say this because they had agreed prior that participation needed to be earned in battle.
"Hmp!!" Jade sneered, these guys were now starting to understand why the blade Demon was an absolute idiot.
"Kid, let’s just get this over with" carlson shook his head and entered a battle stance. He didn’t have the time for all the drama, he was here as a favour to Leon.
"I’ll skin you alive!!" The blade Demon lounged forwards with his magic blade, around its edges was enhanced mana of the wind attribute barreling towards Carlson.
"Hmm, water work: scared tip" carlson didn’t think twice before using a sacred spell.
The blade Demon was by no means weak, for him to go toe to toe with someone like Alvin while being at the middle stages of level 2, he was definitely a force to be reckoned with. So carlson struck with powerful spells from the get go.
"Woom"
The first attack collided and pushed back both parties as if they were equally matched.
"Again" Seeing this carlson became angry and lounged forward again.
—woom
The second collision was the same, but this time it looked like carlson was toying with the blade Demon.
"You’re going yo die!!" The blade Demon spat out and came running forward like a mad dog.
There was no way he would let himself be shown up again...this time, not only did he enhance his mana, he used a spell.
"Wind work: Sacred dance of the wind demon"
All of a sudden his body was engulfed with wind attribute mana, covering his legs arms and even forming a sort of prosthetic hand.
He was going full on.
"Oh? Isn’t that from...." carlson frowned at this spell....he knew someone that could use this exact spell and he was no small fire, in fact this person ranked high in the sky mages of eldoria.
Was the blade Demon related to that person?
Carlson frowned. The faceless mercenary company wore masks if not, there was a distinctive feature he could use to identify if his suspicions were true.
(I’ll just have to check with brother Badur after the match)
Carlson thought to himself before swinging his spear around.
"Exploding tip" carlson smirked and threw his spear forward aiming directly at the blade Demon.
From the outside, this was extremely dumb, why would throwing your weapon away mid fight be a good idea? What if your opponent dodges? Wasn’t this stupid?
Of course, they didn’t know what carlson knew.
As the spear flew forward and neared the blade Demon he was able to dodge it with a swing of his head. It was the beat tactic, he would still maintain course while dodging.
But this was exactly what carslon expected....because as soon as he dodged the tip of the spear exploded.
—Boom!!!
This explosion wasn’t massive, but it was enough to not only push the blade Demon back, it was able to severely disoriente him allowing Carlson to do this.
—Boom!!
—bang!!
With the sound ringing in his ear, a torrent of punches came raining down at him.
This scene looked all to familiar.
