Rhys’s biological clock woke him after about six hours of sleep, and the first thing he saw was the soft, sleeping face of the male zerg.
He Qin’s lower face was buried in the velvet blanket, with only his black hair, which had grown quite a bit during this time, peeking out. The male zerg smacked his lips a few times, as if dreaming of something delicious.
Rhys lay on his side, admiring the sight of the sleeping zerg, until the device on his wrist began vibrating incessantly, pulling him back to reality.
Every morning, Rhys had a routine: he patrolled the starship, inspected the control room, checked the daily food supplies for the soldiers in the dining area, and then selected a few teams in the training area for hands-on guidance.
As the highest commander of the starship, Major General Rhys had a much more demanding schedule than ordinary soldiers.
Typically, his mornings were filled with routine patrols and training sessions, followed by a series of meetings in the afternoon and handling the day’s official documents in the evening.
Rhys had lived this way for many years.
Thus, becoming a Major General at such a young age in the empire required more effort than other zergs.
For the first time, Rhys didn’t want to get up; he wanted to watch the male zerg a little longer. However, the small vibrating device on his wrist kept reminding him that he was an imperial Major General with many responsibilities to shoulder.
He Qin was a heavy sleeper, not easily awakened by anything except the morning bugle in the Earth military camp; no other noise could rouse him.
After waking up, Rhys carefully changed into his uniform, trying not to make any noise. His efforts to be quiet had no impact on He Qin’s sleep.
When He Qin finally woke up, the room was empty, leaving him alone.
Upon getting out of bed, the robot on Rhys’s desk activated, delivering a message Rhys had left.
“If you’re interested today, you can come to the training area to find me. If you don’t know where it is, let this little Q guide you.”
The message ended, and the small square robot jumped off the desk. “Your Highness, if you need anything, just ask me. Little Q is the most knowledgeable robot on the starship.”
The small robot circled around He Qin before stopping, awaiting his command.
Though the zergs used a lot of high-tech weapons on Earth and gifted a batch to Earth as an alliance, He Qin knew that the zergs’ most powerful weapons were definitely not the ones given to Earth. There must be even more advanced combat weapons on their starship.
Raised as an ordinary human male, He Qin was naturally interested in weapons and military training. If he had the chance to observe the military zergs’ training area, he would undoubtedly learn a lot.
“Alright, let me change clothes, and then we’ll go to the training area,” He Qin said. For some reason, he saw a shadow of Earth’s dogs in the little robot.
He reached out to pat the robot’s head, just like petting a dog.
From the pile of clothes prepared by Adjutant Jack, which were either diamond-encrusted or gem-embedded, He Qin finally managed to find a plain deep green shirt after much effort.
He Qin also thought about the old green military uniform he had taken from Earth. He might never get the chance to wear that uniform again, so wearing a green shirt was a bit of psychological comfort.
The little robot lived up to its name as the starship’s encyclopedia, chattering non-stop about various topics on their way to the training area.
Mostly, little Q talked about its master, Major General Rhys. “Your Highness, the Major General is really an ideal marriage partner. Our Major General is wealthy and very obedient. Your Highness, Your Highness, won’t you consider it?”
Throughout the journey, He Qin listened to the little robot, like a matchmaker, extolling the virtues of its master and the benefits of marrying the Major General.
Though he knew that in the Empire, female zergs were treated like objects to be married off or given away at will, He Qin, as a young man with a strong sense of justice, couldn’t easily accept such an unfair status difference.
No matter how excellent Major General Rhys was, even as a female zerg, he should have the chance to choose his partner rather than being treated as a commodity for money or offspring.
The starship’s soldier training area was divided into several sections, such as the close combat room, weapons training room, and comprehensive environment room.
These areas provided suitable training grounds for soldiers needing to enhance their combat skills in different directions.
Many female zerg soldiers overly rely on high-tech weapons and overlook the importance of close combat. A critical aspect of close combat training is teaching the female zergs how to better utilize their wings on the battlefield.
The comprehensive environment room can simulate different planets and environments, creating various enemies based on soldiers’ weaknesses, thus training them to maintain strong combat capabilities in any extreme environment.
Today, Rhys chose to come to the close combat room to personally guide the ordinary soldiers.
In Major General Rhys’s army, although the soldiers endure more hardship compared to their peers, their survival rate on the battlefield is significantly higher.
Rhys’s army never harbors the lazy. Even if you’re weak but have a tenacious heart, this team will welcome you.
As usual, Rhys first went to the observation deck above the training room, watching the attack methods of the female zerg soldiers and silently noting their attack flaws.
When critiquing later, he would directly point out these flaws without wasting training time on individual feedback.
He didn’t want to waste the time he could spend with the male zerg on this group of female zergs.
He Qin, guided by little Q, arrived at the training area. Seeing the Major General’s shining silver hair from afar, he quickened his pace towards Rhys.
Young and spirited with a rebellious nature, He Qin used to be restrained by military law and orders in the army.
Now, in the zergs’ territory, every zerg treated him like a treasure, bringing out his childlike defiance against rules and restrictions.
The past two days had seen He Qin’s youthful exuberance, previously suppressed by the army, fully unleashed.
As the female zergs were focused on the distance, He Qin mischievously decided to surprise Rhys. Approaching stealthily, he used eye contact to warn Adjutant Jack not to react.
Unfortunately, Rhys, being a top-tier Major General of the high-level zergoids, sensed someone approaching from afar. A quick sniff of the air confirmed it was the only male zerg on the starship.
Just as He Qin was about to reach out and tug Rhys’s tightly bound silver ponytail, Rhys turned swiftly, like he had eyes in the back of his head, and grabbed He Qin’s mischievous hand. “There are others around here. If you want to touch, you can do it all you want back in the room.”
These ambiguous words made Jack’s ears burn.
Really, does the Major General even realize what suggestive things he’s saying? Jack looked awkwardly at the two zergs’ intertwined fingers.
“Uh…” Caught red-handed, He Qin awkwardly rubbed his nose. “Major General, are you watching the soldiers train?”
The male zerg’s presence made it hard for Rhys to concentrate. He stiffly stood there, pondering his words before responding, “I was about to go down. Would you like to join me?”
Anyone else seeing He Qin’s intense focus on the training female zerg soldiers might suspect he was interested in one of them.
But only Rhys, who understood male zergs, knew that He Qin was expressing an interest in the zerg combat methods.
“Sure, sure.” Hearing that he could observe Major General Rhys instructing soldiers up close, He Qin’s delight was instantly evident on his face.
He wanted to pat Rhys on the shoulder as usual, but then remembered that he was now a male zerg and Rhys was a female zerg. His hand awkwardly froze in mid-air.
Compared to He Qin’s obvious awkwardness that was clear to everyone, Major General Rhys’s emotions were much more restrained. On the surface, he remained calm and collected, but inside, he was already trembling with excitement.
What had he just said? Touch him later? How embarrassing.
And did the male zerg just try to touch him proactively? The male zerg must really like him!!!
He Qin, being straightforward and unobservant, didn’t notice Rhys’s slightly disordered steps, but Adjutant Jack clearly saw his Major General’s nervousness.
Jack silently prayed for his Major General’s love life. This time, the Major General was truly smitten. He hoped that Lord He Qin would quickly claim the Major General.
“Please instruct us, Major General!” The female zerg soldiers halted their practice, standing straight to welcome their esteemed Major General Rhys. Every military female zerg dreamed of receiving the Major General’s guidance.
However, what truly made them focus intensely this time was the male zerg following behind the Major General.
Was it really the male zerg that the Major General had been protecting in the resting quarters?
They knew that this starship returning to the home planet carried a male zerg who had been stranded on Earth. Apart from the last time when the male zerg had entered the starship’s dining hall alone, causing the present female zergs to be distracted for days afterward, the male zerg was always closely guarded by the Major General and rarely appeared before others.
Empire male zergs generally disliked seeing female zergs in combat mode. Some male zergs even despised the wings of female zergs, finding the spiked wings terrifying.
Yet here was He Qin, a male zerg, proactively coming to their training ground, watching them with eager anticipation.
Rhys intentionally used his body, which was a few centimeters taller than the male zerg, to shield He Qin.
Having resolved to make He Qin his male master, how could he let these unmarried military females openly stare at his male zerg?
Remembering a few soldiers whose gazes carried ill intentions, Rhys immediately called them forward at the start of the instruction for some ‘personal’ and special guidance.
The female zerg soldiers found themselves in a sorry state under Major General Rhys’s particularly thorough guidance today. Even if they risked their lives, they couldn’t hurt the Empire’s Major General Rhys.
He Qin, on the other hand, stood beside Adjutant Jack without much thought, clapping in excitement whenever he saw Rhys use his broad wings to knock the soldiers’ weapons to the ground.
Hearing the male zerg’s praise, Rhys put in even more effort, determined to showcase his combat prowess before the male zerg.
The poor female zerg soldiers found their afternoon training session extended from an hour to dinner time, with each soldier receiving a personal session.
Dragging their sore bodies, the female zerg soldiers exited the training room, only to see the male zerg still eagerly asking the Major General questions, with Rhys patiently explaining each one.
The female zerg soldiers then realized they were just stepping stones for the Major General to pursue the male zerg. They vowed to steer clear of Lord He Qin in the future to avoid being remembered by the Major General.
The author has something to say:
Military female zergs: “Major General, why do you train us so harshly when you’re chasing a male zerg?”
Major General: “Because I need the male master to see my strength.”
