Major General, a Male Zerg has been found on the battlefield!!

04

The uniforms of zerg soldiers were equipped with communication headsets. Five seconds earlier, they had all received an urgent order through their headsets.

“All Imperial soldiers, the situation is critical. There is a male zerg on the battlefield. Second Lieutenant Leon is escorting the male back to headquarters and urgently needs everyone’s support.”

Even during a medal ceremony, Major General Rhys’s voice remained terrifyingly calm, but when he issued this order, a tone of anxiety and urgency could be heard.

A male zerg? How could there be such a precious male zerg on the battlefield?

Half of them were female zergs, and in their decades of life, they had never seen a male zerg.

They never expected to see the Empire’s most protected treasure—a male zerg—on a battlefield where a single misstep could cost their lives.

The female zerg soldiers, who had been fighting on the battlefield for several days, were exhausted and on the brink of collapse.

Upon hearing Major General Rhys’s order to protect the male zerg, they were more excited than hearing news of victory and enthusiastically reengaged in battle with the enemy.

Female zergs were naturally belligerent, and even more so when fighting to protect an Imperial male.

Leon received the order from Major General Rhys and temporarily handed over his tasks to other soldiers. His primary mission now was to protect the male zerg and return to the camp.

After all, the male zerg in his arms, unconscious, did not look well.

Imperial male zergs did not have the strong physiques of female zergs. They were generally more prone to illness before their metamorphosis period, which was the most crucial time in a male zerg’s life.

The metamorphosis period was akin to a growth period, requiring a good environment and even the assistance of specialized Imperial equipment.

If a male zerg couldn’t withstand the challenges of the metamorphosis period, it could mean a shortened lifespan and very low fertility.

For female zergs, undergoing metamorphosis on the battlefield might not be a big deal—they could endure and get through it.

But for a male zerg like He Qin, experiencing the metamorphosis period in such a harsh environment was unprecedented.

During the metamorphosis period, male zergs released a large amount of unique pheromones. As Leon protected He Qin on their way back, many female zergs cleared the enemies ahead, creating a safe path for them.

Even if some attacks were aimed at He Qin, female zergs would risk their lives to block them.

Sacrificing themselves to protect an Imperial male was a source of pride and honor for female zergs.

With a male zerg on the battlefield, the female soldiers’ combat effectiveness greatly increased. They fought with the mindset of ending the battle quickly to get a glimpse of the male zerg.

With doubled combat strength, the enemy Saran forces were forced to retreat under such intense attacks.

The departure of a single human soldier wouldn’t affect the mission, but a male zerg on the battlefield could infinitely boost the female zergs’ desire for victory.

He Qin was successfully brought back to the Alliance’s military camp, where Major General Rhys was already waiting outside the gate, along with the camp’s only sub-female military doctor and a group of curious human officers.

Leon had endured numerous attacks along the way. To ensure the male zerg’s safety, any attack that wasn’t blocked was taken head-on by the young female zerg with his tough wings.

Despite this, upon landing, all the female soldiers in the camp focused their attention on the male zerg in Leon’s arms.

The female soldiers’ injuries would heal with a week of rest, but the male zerg, clearly having trouble breathing, was the real concern.

The sub-female military doctor immediately went to check on the male zerg. Upon seeing the zerg’s face clearly, he exclaimed, “It’s him?”

“Isn’t this the human who came to the infirmary some time ago? How did he become a male zerg?”

“Hurry, take him to the infirmary.”

There was no time to think about how He Qin could be a male zerg because the male suddenly started tearing at his clothes, his strength so great that he nearly shredded his outer military uniform.

During the male zerg’s metamorphosis period, they experience intense heat, and Imperial males are placed in temperature-controlled transformation pods.

Fortunately, Dr. Jed’s superior had forcibly required him to bring a low-temperature pod when they came to Earth, just in case any soldier needed cold treatment.

Now it was needed—the low-temperature pod was the best substitute for a male zerg’s transformation pod.

An unmarried male zerg was now writhing in his arms, which was an irresistible temptation for Leon, who had never had contact with a male zerg.

Major General Rhys frowned involuntarily as the male zerg twisted his body, unable to hide the murderous look in his eyes.

Rhys, who knew all the details about the “Escort the Energy Core” squad, was well aware that the zerg soldier named Leon had once injured He Qin, making him cough up blood in front of many zergs.

How could such a female zerg be qualified to hold the transforming He Qin?

Female zergs are naturally predisposed to compete for mates. Major General Rhys stepped forward, grabbed He Qin into his own arms, and strode toward the infirmary, shooting Leon a cold glare before he turned away.

The male zerg was placed in a star-rated room in the infirmary and, after much effort by the sub-female military doctor, finally had stable breathing, a normal heart rate, and reduced body temperature.

Outside the room, the Major General’s adjutant was assigned to personally guard the door. Apart from Dr. Jed and Major General Rhys, no one was allowed to visit.

Since the male’s transformation had stabilized, even the military doctor was rarely allowed near.

He Qin’s nutritional supplements, body checks, and other daily tasks were all handled by Rhys himself. Even when medical procedures were necessary, Rhys stayed by his side.

The military doctor had openly mocked Rhys as a “love-struck fool.”

All the female zergs knew what Major General Rhys had in mind: he wanted to be the first person the male zerg saw when he woke up, to make a good impression.

Of course, if possible, every female zerg in the camp would have chosen to do the same as Major General Rhys.

As Rhys had hoped, the first person He Qin saw when he woke up was Major General Rhys.

“Major General Rhys?” He Qin’s dry, hoarse voice couldn’t hide his confusion.

He Qin, who had been lying down for nearly three days and nights, had gone through several bouts of high fever during his transformation, each time relying on Rhys to provide timely hydration.

If Rhys hadn’t been taking such close care of him, He Qin’s lips would have been cracked from the high fever by now, rather than just having a dry throat.

‘Dr. Jed, come in and check, he’s awake.’

Rhys noticed He Qin’s dry throat and gently pushed him back down when he tried to sit up, then turned to pour him a glass of water.

To take better care of the male zerg, Rhys hadn’t rested for a single second these past days. Despite his exhaustion, He Qin’s awakening made all his fatigue vanish instantly.

‘Oh, lie back down. You just went through the metamorphosis period and are still very weak. Let me check your physical condition first.’

Dr. Jed rushed to the male zerg’s bedside as soon as he was let in, fiddling with various instruments and chattering non-stop.

‘Major General Rhys, can I ask about the status of the war?’

Though filled with questions, like what exactly had happened to him, why was he being cared for by non-human companions, and why was Major General Rhys here, He Qin chose to ask about the war. As a soldier, he was more concerned about Earth and humanity’s safety than his own condition.

‘Your companions completed their mission well, and the war has been won.’

Hearing this from the highest-ranking zerg officer, He Qin felt relieved. He didn’t want his condition to affect an important military mission.

‘Lord He Qin, you have successfully gone through your metamorphosis period. May I now collect some of your blood to take back to our home planet for testing?’

From He Qin’s perspective, the zerg doctor seemed a bit fanatical. Yes, those sparkling stars in his eyes were definitely real.

‘What is a metamorphosis period? And why do you need to take my blood back to your planet?’

Still confused, He Qin refused to extend his arm for a blood draw and gave the doctor a suspicious look.

‘You might not know this, but you are not human. You are a precious male zerg of the high-ranking zergs. You have just safely gone through the crucial metamorphosis period. Congratulations on becoming an adult.’

He Qin leaned back on the bed, supported by a pillow carefully placed by the zerg officer. He felt that Dr. Jed’s words were like a foreign language; he couldn’t understand any of it. What did they mean by saying he wasn’t human? And what was a male zerg? Was it similar to the females mentioned before?

‘Male zerg?’ He Qin tried to avoid Dr. Jed’s eager gaze and turned to the relatively calmer Major General Rhys for answers.

‘That’s correct. You are a male zerg, equivalent to a male human on Earth, and I am a female zerg, equivalent to a female human.’

Female zerg? Female?

He Qin scrutinized Major General Rhys, who, aside from having long hair, showed no female characteristics. However, when he glanced at Rhys’s chest, the so-called ‘female zerg’ subtly puffed it out, seemingly trying to show a better chest contour.

‘In fact, all the zergs in this camp are female,’ added the baby-faced military doctor, further shattering He Qin’s worldview. So, he had been living and fighting alongside a bunch of females all this time? And his combat skills were no match for theirs?

Afterwards, the military doctor played the role of a biology teacher.

He carefully explained to the male zerg student in front of him the distinctions between males, females, and sub-female individuals among the zergs.

He mentioned that in the current Empire, male zergs could have multiple female partners, and he enthusiastically recommended himself to He Qin.

This half-hour explanation completely shattered He Qin’s worldview.

First, his mental world collapsed, then he consoled himself, and finally, he accepted reality.

In the end, he even secretly felt grateful that he wasn’t a female zerg. Even though he had realized his different orientation at seventeen, he couldn’t accept being the subordinate one.

However, He Qin stole a glance at Major General Rhys standing beside the bed. He couldn’t imagine such a dignified zergoid playing the role of a human female.
