Chapter 2: Nim
In a forest three children who looked to be 9 to 10 years old were walking, the boy in front had brown hair and was holding a wooden sword, he had an excited look, the other boy had black hair and had a sensible look for his age, the last child was actually a girl with blonde hair, this girl happily followed the two children.
"Nim let's not go too far there may be wild beasts" although the three children were only at the edge of the forest the black haired boy was still worried.
"Don't worry Leo, if a wild beast appears I will hit it with the sword" Nim made a gesture with the wooden sword.
"That's exactly what worries me" Leo looked back "plus this time Fauna is following us".
"Don't worry, we're almost at the flower garden that Fauna wants to see" Nim was still animated.
"Okay.." sighing Leo continued "come on Fauna, Nim may be many things but he doesn't lie".
"You act like an adult sometimes Leo" Nim claims to Leo.
Nim's parents, Leo and Fauna were friends, that made the three of them know each other since they could remember.
Leo knew how impulsive Nim could be sometimes, he preferred to stay in the small school in the town so he could continue reading and Nim was someone who couldn't stay still.
Fauna always seemed to be in her own world and almost always accompanied them everywhere with a smile.
This time they had come to the forest because Nim had said that he had seen a huge flower garden, they both knew that Fauna would like to see it.
And for that reason they were in this situation.
The three children walked a little further until they stopped at a small cliff, looking ahead they saw a huge flower garden.
"Come on, I didn't lie" Nim puffs out his chest "come over here there is a vine that will help us down"
Moving to the side they see a thick vine tied to a tree.
"I made this vine" Nim shows Leo and Fauna,
"That doesn't seem reliable" Leo looks at the vine with doubt.
"I've used this vine before so it's safe" Nim repeats again "okay I'll try it and you'll see" .
Then Nim, like a monkey, quickly goes down to the ground. "Come on, it's easy" Nim shouts to them from the ground.
"It's easy for you" Leo whispers and then turns to Fauna "I'll go first Fauna, watch how I do it"
"Yes" Fauna
Then Leo carefully grabs on and slowly lowers the vine, as the height wasn't very high, he gets there quickly.
"Come on Fauna, it's your turn" Nim shouts
Fauna grabs on to the vine and starts to slowly go down, halfway down Fauna looks down, although the height wasn't very high, Fauna got a little dizzy, nervously she stops in the middle of the road.
"What's up Fauna, you're almost there?" Nim doesn't understand why Fauna stopped.
"Fauna what's up?" Leo gets anxious when he sees Fauna standing still with her eyes closed.
"I'm scared" Fauna
"It's true" because he was worried about where Nim was taking them, Leo had forgotten that Fauna was somewhat scared.
"Wait Fauna, let's help you" Even though he said that, Leo didn't know what to do at this moment.
"I can't" Fauna after being held for so long loses strength in his arms and falls.
"Fauna!!" Leo alarmed wants to catch her.
But suddenly Nim jumps nimbly and catches her in the air until he falls with her in his arms.
Fauna, who until now still had her eyes closed, opens them only to see Nim holding her.
"Nim.." Fauna feels a strange feeling about this situation.
"Is Fauna okay?" Leo approaches when he sees that Fauna had been caught by Nim.
"Yes... Nim, put me down," Fauna says when she sees that Nim doesn't let go of her.
"Yes," Nim carefully lets go of her. "You scared me, Fauna." Nim, who never seemed like a serious person, says those words.
Leo, seeing this whole situation, feels an unknown discomfort.
"Okay, since we're here, let's explore the garden."
Breaking the strange atmosphere, Nim leads the way again.
After that little incident, nothing else happened. Fauna happily watched and picked some flowers while smiling.
Nim, as usual, watched the area moving around, Leo saw Fauna thoughtfully.
After a couple of hours, Nim, seeing that the sun was beginning to set, says, "Okay, it's time to go back," and begins to lead the way. Leo, accustomed to this behavior, follows him with Fauna back where they came from.
"Fauna, this time, get on my back when we climb the vine" Nim points to his back.
"Okay" Fauna smiles.
Leo follows them silently.
When they reach the small cliff they see the hanging vine, Nim who was about to approach the vine stops abruptly.
"Nim, what's wrong?" Leo asks as he observes Nim's strange behavior.
Nim seriously points to the side of the vine, Leo moves to Nim's side and observes how a wild boar lies lying on the side of the vine, the wild boar does not surprise him too much but next to the boar there is a green humanoid being eating the boar, the green being was bloodied by the boar's blood.
" That is... a monster " Leo opens his eyes alarmed.
Leo had read in the books about monsters, there were all kinds and he knew that they were beings much more dangerous than wild beasts.
" What is a monster doing here " Monsters were supposed to be found in dungeons or deep in the woods, Leo did not understand why he would see a monster here.
" That does not matter, he already saw us " Nim holds the sword tightly.
" No Nim, it is dangerous " Leo knew Nim's physical abilities, if it were a wild beast he could trust him, but a monster was a different concept.
"Go with Fauna and get away, there is more than one entrance to this place, you just have to go around the cliff to get out of here, I will take care of him" Nim did not want to continue arguing and began to advance.
"Nim.." Leo, who could not stop Nim, turns to see Fauna who was scared by seeing the sudden monster.
He grabs Fauna by the hand, and runs to another place with her, they had to return to the town as quickly as possible and ask Mr. Smith for help.
Nim had acted quickly and had approached the monster when the latter saw them, he had to do it or else he could have targeted Leo or Fauna.
The monster was a goblin, its size was almost the same as him, being only a little taller than Nim.
He wore only a worn cloth as clothing and held a rusty dagger.
Although Nim had never fought a monster, he had hunted several wild beasts in the past, relying on that experience Nim quickly runs towards the goblin and aims for its legs wanting to knock it off balance.
He tries to strike with his sword, when the goblin growls and slashes at Nim.
Swosh
Nim, seeing the incoming attack, steps back without completing his attack.
The goblin is fast but so is Nim.
Nim tries again but this time he goes around it and attacks from behind, the monster seeing him approach quickly turns and slashes again, Nim steps back again without being able to hit.
Nim, seeing that he can't hit, doesn't get discouraged, rather this dangerous situation awakens a new emotion for him.
An excitement for battle.
After feeling that excitement his senses sharpen.
Nim, seeing that his attacks weren't hitting, chooses to take another approach.
Nim runs back to the goblin, the goblin seeing this again cuts towards him, this time Nim does not retreat, he looks at the incoming attack and dodges it just in time by moving aside, although he dodges the cut it still grazes his cheek and leaves a bloody cut.
After dodging, Nim hits the goblin's legs with all his strength with the wooden sword, a force that does not match a child of his age hits the goblin.
The goblin staggers back, Nim seeing the opening attacks the goblin again.
Nim gives a strong blow to the goblin's wrist, the blow makes the dagger fly out of the goblin's hand.
Faced with the unarmed goblin, Nim hits several vital points of the goblin with his sword, the goblin, upset by the pain, counterattacks with his bare hands.
Nim dodges and continues hitting, until the sword breaks from Nim's force.
Seeing this, Nim quickly steps back and looks at the goblin. The goblin had huge bruises all over his body and was bleeding. The blows were not enough to kill him.
The angry goblin searches for the dagger and when he finds it, he runs towards it. Nim, seeing this, runs towards the goblin.
Nim jumps and lands a strong blow that makes him stop. The goblin turns around trying to grab him. Nim, seeing this, turns his body in the air and kicks the goblin in the face.
The goblin, upon receiving the strong blow, finally falls to the ground. Nim, upon falling to the ground again, rolls towards the dagger and manages to hold it.
With the dagger in his hand, he runs towards the goblin who is lying down and stabs it deep into the goblin's neck.
Blood splashes and soaks Nim.
The goblin resists while bleeding to death.
Seeing that it is not enough to kill him instantly, Nim takes out the dagger and stabs the goblin in the chest. The goblin, having his heart pierced, stops abruptly and dies.
After killing the goblin, Nim feels a strange energy entering his body. That energy feels warm and makes him feel lighter and even stronger than before.
After finishing everything and seeing the dead goblin, Nim's nerves relaxed and he feels a little fatigue from the battle he just had.
(I'll have to go back quickly or I'll worry everyone) with that in mind, Nim looks for the vine again and heads back to the village.
