CH 57: ON THE OTHER SIDE
[Devil World]
The moment Basara alongside Rias' team appeared on the field, somewhere in the devil world, two handsome red-haired men, one voluptuous brown-haired woman and one small but adult woman with long silver hair and two horns were all sitting while watching the screen floating above.
“Heh…Basara has grown so much.”
The silver-haired woman smiled widely when she took a look at Basara. Her eyes were filled with appreciation.
“So you know about his existence.”
“No need to frown, Zeoti. Sapphire came to me when she was pregnant so of course, I knew she had a son. I even helped deliver him. Though Sapphire asked me to keep this secret.”
Shelia, Lucia and Maria’s mother, gave a mischievous smile. She was of course not saying the entire truth. While she did help deliver Basara, the one she helped doing so wasn’t Sapphire but…
“Father, no need to be angry. Sheila simply acted to keep her promise.”
Sirzech smiled while Zeoticus simply sighed. He could never be angry at Shelia and she knew it. Of course, this wasn’t the problem now.
“I wonder if he inherited it.”
Venelana, Rias and Sirzech’s mother, asked quietly and this was indeed something that worried Zeoticus a little.
“He did.”
No one asked Shelia why she was so sure. They now knew that Lucia was taking care of Basara so it wasn’t a surprise.
“How troublesome.”
Zeoticus massaged his eyebrows. He was truly happy to have found his nephew and in fact wished for nothing more than to rush on earth and accept him officially in the family.
But there was a problem.
“A third potential heir appeared.”
Sirzech gave a bitter smile. None of them really cared about the title of heir or heiress. But the Gremory family wasn’t just about themselves. They had a large number of servants and subordinates and sometimes, they couldn’t make the decision they wanted to.
“Back then, Sapphire was the one who should have inherited the title of Lord Gremory and as her direct son, Basara is more than eligible for the title. In fact, I believe some of the old subordinate of the family would actively push for this.”
“Like those old folk of the Apollyon clan?”
The Apollyon clan was an off-shot of the Abaddon clan, which was part of the Extra demon clan. The fallen clans that were once part of the 72 great noble families.
The members of the Apollyon clan were extremely loyal to the family but also extremely conservative. Because of this, they had been dissatisfied with Rias and unwillingly supported Mio. But with Basara…
“Sigh…I hate how politics is dirtying what should have been such a great moment.”
The others nodded but there was nothing they could do.
“Hehehe. Let’s forget the complicated stuff. It’s time to watch the match.”
They all stopped discussing after Shelia said so and fell silent while the voice of Sona sounded from the screen as she explained the rule of the fight that was about to take place.
—--
“Lucia-san, you are incredible.”
While Basara was about to start fighting against Rias and Co, Asia was walking outside with Lucia. They were out shopping in order to find new clothes for Asia. After all, while Basara’s tee shirt was comfy, she couldn’t really only wear it.
As of now, Asia was clad in one of her spare nun clothes while Lucia was wearing her usual maid clothes.
Despite the fact that they were two extremely beautiful women wearing rather atypical clothes, no one seemed to find throw look at them or accost them. Lucia had explained that this was the result of a simple wide-scale mind manipulation spell that made it so people could not really ‘look’ at the.
In the mind of those people, Lucia and Asia were just two normal girls walking around and if those people tried to remember what they looked like, they would be surprised to find that they were unable to put an image to their face. Then they would simply forget.
Compared to the simple and most used mindwipe spell devils liked to use nowadays, this one was far more subtle and didn’t happen to violate the intimacy of people. She simply affected their cognition. Nothing more, nothing less.
Most devils would struggle to use this spell. But, as a succubus, she did not suffer from such plight. Mind-type spells were her specialty after all. She could easily affect the entire city like this.
Even so, getting praised by an innocent girl like Asia really made Lucia feel good. There was something about those sparkling eyes that made her soften her heart.
‘Perhaps I should make Asia sign a contract with a familiar? The result might be surprising.’
A contract with a familiar and a Wizard or a Witch were the two basic requirements for a devil to become truly complete. If it wasn’t because she hadn’t found the right
one yet, she would have asked Basara to do so.
‘I should really look into that matter. It would be even better if Basara could entice a high-tier witch to join the peerage.’
“Say…Do you think Basara will be alright?”
Lucia was brought out of her musing by Asia’s baffling question.
“Trust me. There is no way Basara can lose to them.”
Lucia said so quite clearly. While Rias was her adorable little sister, the truth was what it was and in fact, she was quite happy about this.
For one, once Basara won, he would get full ownership of her. With the recording of the fight, the proof that Rias didn’t cheat and didn’t even know Basara's true identity as her cousin would be shown to all, making it impossible for the Phenex to complain.
Furthermore, this defeat by someone younger than her would be a true wake-up call to Rias and her team.
Until now, Rias had never put any effort into furthering her training despite her insane level of talent. Be it Zeoticus or Sirzech, none of them tried to force Rias to train and Lucia could understand why. After all, as one of the princesses of the Gremory house and the heiress apparent, there was no one who would dare to hurt her.
…At least that would be the case if the situation was normal.
‘Those bastards of the old Maou faction and Kokabiel…’
Lucia bit her lips. Be it Rias and her peerage or Mio and Maria, they needed to become stronger fast. Even if not enough to win against the future potential enemies they might face, at least they should become strong enough to hold on and wait until help comes.
‘I wonder if I should ask Basara-sama to make a master-servant contract with them.’
The master-servant contract was separate from the Evil piece. While the initial boost was lower, it had a greater advantage over time and there was no limit to the number of contracts that could be signed. Furthermore not all the contracts needed to be signed with her Succubus power.
If they could use Basara or Akeno’s holy power as the basis, they could create an appropriate contract for male members.
…Of course, when it came to her sisters, she wouldn’t mind if they did become Basara’s concubines. Basara was her master after all and he wanted all the best for him. If Mio and Rias belonged to him, then the entire Gremory house would belong to him.
As for the matter of incest? They were just cousins. It was no big deal.
‘Heh…’
In the end, though, all of this was a question for the future.
“Well, Asia let’s go. The list is still long.”
“Yes!”
The two of them were about to move on when—
“Asia is that you!?”
‘Someone managed to break my confusion spell?’
She faced the direction of the voice and what she saw was a blond-haired man with a distraught expression full of relief as gazed deeply at Asia.
‘What is he doing here?’
Lucia frowned, after all, the man that called out to them was a devil and in fact a rather known one.
‘Diodora Astaroth.’
One of the strongest devils in the young generation.
“Hah…”
The expression on Asia’s face showed that she recognized him. Which should have been impossible. After all, Asia had never met any devil…Expect one.
‘Oh?’
She immediately remembered the event that pushed Asia toward her expulsion from the church. She had always found it quite fishy. But now…?
Her eyes narrowed instantly. It seemed that troublesome events were about to happen.
