LUCKY REINCARNATION: REINCARNATED WITH A HAREM SYSTEM

Chapter 172: spiders

Immediately after Quin Xuxu said that, the faces of everyone turned serious and they took out their weapons, their eyes fixed in front as they waited for whatever was going to appear from the sand screen.

Time slowly ticked past as everyone waited in tense silence. No one said a word and only the sound of howling wind could be heard. A minute soon passed, but nothing happened; another minute passed, but nothing still happened.

The tension in the hearts of the disciples gradually increased as more time passed, but they still had not discovered anything. They would have already started moving on normal occasions but the person who issued the warning was their grand elder, a level 7 expert. She definitely wouldn't make such a silly mistake, right?

Bai Quing was also looking at the dust screen in front of them with a serious look on her face. Although the moon above Gulu plain was very bright and allowed one to have enough vision similar to daytime, she had yet to see or sense anything; not even a shadow.

As the second strongest person in the group and a level 6 expert, she naturally would have raised questions but she trusted her Master and patiently waited.

"Stay together!" She shouted in a low voice, and the disciples immediately reacted; they shortened the gaps between themselves and formed tight walls around each other.

Fengxu silently moved closer to Leon and released her senses to the maximum in all directions, this was to let her sense anything that would approach them faster and allow her to react fast enough to protect Leon.

Although she knew that Leon was weak and could even fight her, she still did it regardless.

More time passed in silence, but nothing still happened; Quin Xuxu was already starting to frown as a great feeling of awkwardness washed through her body.

It would be very uncomfortable if nothing was really approaching but she was certain that she had felt the presence. Not once, not twice either!

They seemed to appear out of thin air, move in their direction, and then disappear again. For some reason, she was unable to pin her senses on any of them.

Quin Xuxu was about to bite her lips and tell everyone to continue moving as if night had happened when the sand under them suddenly began to shake. It was a slow tremor at first but soon increased to a fierce quake that made it difficult for one to stand straight.

"W-what is happening?!"

"Is an earthquake happening right now?"

"Don't scatter, try to stay on your feet and don't fall!"

Voices rang out in all directions and the disciples and elders commented on the present situation. The climate of Gulu plain was strange and unpredictable but earthquakes were almost nonexistent here, this was strange.

Quin Xuxu also felt the same and spread her senses once more, her eyes widened after just three seconds of observing the surroundings. She hastily brought out her sword and scimitar from her storage ring with a cold, ruthless glint in her eyes while at the same time shouting.

"Something's coming from underground!"

Her words rang in the ears of the disciples and elders behind her. Everyone's expression changed, and some of them sent their Shi to scan under the yellow sand, but it was a grave mistake as the next moment, huge creatures with black scales and yellow hair covering their joints shot out from the ground.

Standing at a height of three to seven meters and having dozens of long spider legs, countless tiny red eyes scattered over their huge heads and a wide bloody maw that was filled with needle-like teeth.

They were spider beasts! More specifically, these were desert spiders, a special breed of spiders that were incredibly difficult to deal with for low and mid-level martial artists.

"Desert spiders!" Quin Xuxu called out as she splashed at the three five-meter spiders that had popped out from the ground in front of her with her sword and scimitar.

Her sword splashed through one with ease but stuck in between the hard scale of the second while her scimitar cleanly cut off two legs of the third one, and green blood immediately sprayed on the yellow sand; smoke began to rise from the sand after the green blood of the spider touched it.

This was another problem with the desert spiders, they were toxic!

Quin Xuxu clicked her tongue after seeing that she was only able to kill one. Even though she had swung her sword and scimitar casually and hadn't used any Shi, those swings would have killed any other kind of beast easily; these spiders just had to be difficult to kill!

"Attack their joints, don't bother hitting their bodies, and avoid anything that they spit out!" Quin Xuxu shouted for the disciples before swinging her sword at more spiders.

A fight immediately broke out as everyone fought for their lives. The spiders that had appeared easily surpassed a thousand in number and the group had been surrounded from all sides.

Additionally, only a few people had been able to react after Quin Xuxu's first shout and had brought out their weapons. The others had been caught off guard and some had been directly killed when the spiders popped out from the ground right in front of them.

Screams could be heard from all directions as some disciples were being shredded by the long legs of the spiders or were covered by the toxic liquid that the spiders spat at them. In the blink of an eye, more than fifteen disciples had been killed by the spiders but this much was enough for the disciples to regain their senses and understand what was going on. They had taken out their weapons and began to fight back, each disciple was facing two or three spiders at the same time.

Luckily, aside from their hard bodies and the toxic liquid that they spit out, the spiders had no other outstanding features that would make them a nightmare for the disciples.

As long as you didn't stand in one place or were not weaker than a level 4 martial artist, you could face one or two of them at the same time, but this didn't mean you could kill them easily; staying alive was enough to boast about.

In the middle of this chaos, Leon gripped his sword and danced around gracefully, his sword slashing in all directions like a pretty petal and leaving white flashes in the air.

Dang! Dang! Dang!

Leon's blade landed on the hard legs and back of four spiders that were around him; sword marks and shallow cuts immediately appeared on the bodies of the spiders, but Leon wasn't able to inflict any serious damage or even kill one of them.

This made him click his tongue in dissatisfaction while moving away from where he was standing. Not long after he moved away, multiple spider legs fell from the sky and stabbed into the yellow sand along with green sticky liquid that made the yellow sand let out smoke.

"Tch! Stupid spiders, can't you see how handsome I am? How can you bear to spit such ugly things at me? It's fine that you want to shred me with your legs but would you be happy if I was covered in that sticky stuff?"

Leon grumbled unhappily. He waved his sword and knocked a spider leg that was stabbing at him to the side before stabbing his sword under the body of the spider-like a spear.

The area that his sword entered was only covered with flesh so he was easily able to penetrate. Green blood gushed out and the spider let out a loud shriek before falling to the ground.

After killing the spider, Leon turned around with speed and slashed out with the Three Worlds Slash. Three bright sword waves immediately appeared and fused together before flying out like bullets.

Bam! Bam! Bam!

The sword waves slammed into a spider that was about to spit something at him; the first sword wave cracked the hard scale on its body, the second sword wave directly shattered its hard scales, and the third wave pierced into its body and sliced the five-meter tall spider in two halves!

After killing the spider, Leon turned around to slash at another spider that had popped out from the ground behind him. But behind, he could even make a full swing, a white light splashed past his eyes, and the spider was instantly cut into multiple pieces.

Leon's gaze moved with speed, and his eyes easily caught up with the white light; it was Fengxu in her fox form!

The fox princess flashed around Leon like a blur, waving her paws like short blades and splashing spiders into pieces.

'Ugh, she's making me feel useless again.' Leon sighed inwardly.

Since Fengxu wasn't letting any desert spiders come close to him, he took a moment to observe the fight with others.

The disciples were doing fine currently. Although they were having a hard time killing the spiders, they had stopped dying like when the spiders suddenly appeared and caught them off guard.

They would attack the spider's legs and immobilize them before slowly breaking through their hard scales. The fight was going well in their favour.

'Good thing we brought stronger disciples, anyone weaker than level 4 would definitely die miserable since they won't be able to break through the defences of these spiders.' Leon thought as he spotted Mugin in the sea of disciples.
