save others by snatching them out of the fire; to others show mercy with fear, hating even the garment stained by the flesh.
James knew the destruction of the front gate meant that the League of Villains had started moving against U.A. though and that the attack would be soon.
James invited Momo to his home after class ended. She was a little surprised that for once it was him inviting her rather than her inviting herself, but she gladly accepted.
When they got home he pulled Himiko and Momo into his bedroom locking the door behind them. Both girls blushed heavily as their imagination ran rampant thinking of what was about to happen.
James turned to them with a serious look. "What happened today wasn't caused by the reporters," he said matter of factly.
When the two girls realised this wasn't heading where they had been imagining it would they sobered up quite quickly.
"It wasn't?" Momo asked curiously.
Himiko didn't seem as interested anymore now that it appeared sex was off the table and plopped down on the bed lazily instead.
"Those gates are supposed to be able to withstand a hero or villain attack, yet you believe they were blown to pieces by a few reporters?" he asked rhetorically.
Momo seemed to be considering what he said, sporting a thoughtful look. "I guess that is strange," she said.
Himiko rolled over to face them. "So?" she asked lazily suppressing a yawn.
James sat down on the bed next to her. "So someone else was testing the school's defences and might have even snuck into the school grounds," he explained,
Himiko put her head in his lap. He ran his fingers through her hair. She hummed in enjoyment a small smile playing on her lips.
Momo was less than enthused and roughly sat beside James disturbing Himiko and leaning her head on his shoulder. "Then what did you want to talk about?" she asked.
Himiko frowned at her, but it didn't last long.
"For the next few days I want you two to stay near me at all times," he said.
Himiko looked up at him from his lap brushing his cheek with her hand. "Oh I can definitely do that," she said with a sly smile.
"M-me too!" Momo chimed in. Since they hadn't actually gone beyond kisses and hugs yet she didn't feel quite as secure as Himiko did.
"Good, you'll also need to be ready for any emergency or attack until I say otherwise," he said. He couldn't outright say he knew what was going to happen so the best was to get them to be near and on high alert for when the attack did occur.
Himiko rubbed her cheek against his chub. "Someone seems a little excited," she teased.
Momo refusing to be outdone pushed him back onto the bed and forcefully kissed him on the lips. She seemed to be running out of patience and Himiko's teasing wasn't helping. James made sure to take the time for some cuddling and kissing to satiate the thirsty girl. Himiko could wait for the night and he was sure she was aware of it, not that she minded lazing away using him for a lap pillow.
The next few days went by uneventfully. There were no more intrusions by the press after they had been warned by the U.A. staff nor did the League of Villains make a move yet.
James used this time to prepare as best he could. There were few guarantees after all. Even if this universe seemed to try to steer events towards the canon events the only thing he was fairly sure of was that meant if he didn't do anything that Izuku would step up and then they would be saved by All Might. There was no guarantee anyone beyond Izuku would be saved though and he wasn't taking any risks relying on canon.
He trained hard and made sure to bring some inconspicuous tools to school that could help during the attack. This included some upgraded hero grade stun batons that weren't originally part of his costume and some sturdy ropes. Things he could easily bring along in a small bag without causing any suspicion. He would prefer to use his usual short sword, but that one would be hard to explain since it wasn't an acceptable hero weapon so bludgeoning and shocking the villains would have to do.
They had just returned from lunch and it was time for hero basic training.
“For today’s hero basic training, it’s turned into a class with three instructors, All Might, me and one more person,“ Shota announced.
Everyone was murmuring curious about the sudden change for the class.
Tenya raised his hand. "What will we be doing?" he asked curiously.
Shota raised a card that said rescue. “Disasters, shipwrecks, and everything in between. It’s rescue training,“he said,
Everyone became even more excited about training another part of the pro hero life.
“Rescue… Looks like it’ll be a lot of work this time too.” Denki said to Mina.
“Right?” Mina responded excitedly.
“Idiot, this is the duty of a hero! My arms are ready to rumble!” Eijiro told Denki.
Momo looked over at James. "Oh? We finally get to practice rescuing," she said eagerly.
James smiled at her faintly, but grabbed onto his bag. 'It's finally time,' he thought to himself.
Himiko was still laying her head on her desk lazily as she usually did. If it weren't for her exemplary performance in the practical tests she probably wouldn't have gotten away with it.
“No one can beat me in water, ribbit.” Tsuyu proclaimed.
“Hey, I’m not done. You can decide if you want to wear your costume or not this time,” Shota said.
He pressed the remote control to bring out the briefcases with their costumes from the wall. “Because there are probably costumes that limit your abilities too,” he continued.
“The training will take place off-campus, so we’re taking a bus. That is all. Start getting ready,” Shota said walking off.
Most of them got changed into their costumes before joining him outside. Himiko and Momo were still sticking close to him as he told them to which caused their other friends to stick closely around him too which was all the more convenient for him.
Ochaco walked up to Izuku. “Oh, you’re wearing your P.E. clothes.” she said.
“Where’s your costume?” She asked.
“They got ripped up during the combat training, so I’m waiting for the support company to fix it.” Izuku said.
