Chapter 8: Ren and Hana on a beach
A day or so has passed so Hana went to the beach to clear her mind and look at the pretty sky and she asked Ren if he wanted to go to the beach and hangout. Ren said "yes" it made him happy.
The sun dipped low on the horizon, casting the beach in golden light. The waves rolled in gently, their whispers blending with the soft rustle of the wind. Ren and Hana sat close together on a blanket, the warmth of the day fading but still lingering in the air.
Hana leaned back on her hands, tilting her head to feel the breeze against her face. "It's beautiful, isn't it?" she said, her voice soft, almost as if she were speaking to the ocean itself.
Ren wasn't looking at the view. His eyes were on her, the way the sunlight caught in her hair and lit up her smile. "Yeah," he murmured. "It is."
She turned to him, catching his gaze, and smiled. "You're not even looking at it."
"I am," he said, his lips curving into a small grin. "Just not the same thing you are."
A blush crept up her cheeks, and she laughed lightly, shaking her head. "You're such a silly guy."
"Maybe," he admitted, leaning back beside her, close enough that their shoulders touched. "But you're stuck with me, so..."
"I don't mind," she replied, her voice quieter now. She looked down at the sand, running her fingers through it. "Sometimes I wonder what it'll be like when we're older. Do you ever think about that?"
"All the time," he said without hesitation. "I think about where I'll go, what I'll do… but you're always there. Every time."
She glanced at him, her eyes searching his. "You're always so sure of everything."
"I'm only sure of one thing," he said, his voice steady but filled with something deeper. "You."
Her breath caught for a moment, and she looked back out at the waves, her heart racing. "Ren…"
He reached for her hand, his fingers brushing hers before interlocking gently. "I don't know where life's going to take us, Hana. But no matter where it is, I want you with me. Always."
Her eyes shimmered, and she squeezed his hand. "You really mean that?"
"I mean every word," he said, leaning closer, his voice barely above a whisper now. "You're my whole world, Hana."
She turned to face him fully, their faces just inches apart. The sound of the waves seemed to fade, and in that moment, all she could hear was the beating of her own heart.
"You're mine too," she said softly.
Ren smiled, and with the sun casting its last golden light over them, he leaned in, closing the distance. Their lips met in a gentle, lingering kiss, the world around them fading into the background.
When they pulled apart, Hana rested her forehead against his, her smile wide and unguarded. "I guess the future doesn't feel so scary when you're in it."
Ren chuckled, brushing a strand of hair from her face. "Then I'll make sure I'm always there."
As the sun disappeared beneath the horizon, the two of them sat together, hands intertwined, their hearts full of promises yet to come.
