Lost Saint

Chapter 1: Saint

To create a saint who would not bow to your grand designs—a fool was the maker.

Ajax Romanov, the second child of A ranked hero, Alex, and Athena Romanov. His father Alex, from whom Ajax got his white, and messy hair, is a very skilled swordsman and had an affinity for water magic. His mother, Athena, was also known for her affinity for earth, and fire magic. Ajax has an older sister, Arrow, a prodigy who had not only inherited her mother's golden brown hair, but formidable earth magic.

Despite his young age, the Romanov family held high hopes for when Ajax would reveal his affinities and be declared the strongest among them.

Sisco Romanov, Ajax's uncle, is the current strongest in the Romanov family. He is a member of The Sacred Six—an elite six individuals who serve and protect the citizens of their nation. However, Sisco despises his brother Alex, whom he considers weak and not worthy of the Romanov name. Because of this resentment, he had not once visited Ajax since his birth.

This is Mystara—a realm where magic, wealth, and status rule. This world has two continents:

Elementara—a continent comprising three nations: Sacred Nation, Elfin Nation, and Beast Nation. Elementara is inhabited by element users of fire, earth, water, and wind. They also can obtain an ultimate skill—a powerful skill that transcends the elements. It's often obtained through intense training, luck, or on the verge of death.

The Elfin nation—inhabited by Elves, Dwarves, Spirits, and magical creatures—is the most prominent in magic. Their ability to control magic is exceptional.

Beast nation—inhabited by beasts, demi-humans, and dragons—holds immense physical abilities. Their ability to use magic is weak compared to humans and Elfins. As a result, they often summon demons to aid them in battles.

Although dragons belong to the beast nation, they are largely excluded due to their barbarism and notorious behaviors—especially the black and red dragons.

The Sacred Nation—inhabited by humans—is highly versatile, excelling in both magic and physical abilities. The humans follow a hierarchy, of commoners, nobles, and royals. The nobles are divided into three categories:

First-class nobles—held by individuals with wealth who support the nation financially—occupy the forefront of the nobility hierarchy, second in status only to the royals.

Second-class nobles—this status of nobility is held by heroes. There are two categories, an A-ranked, and an S-ranked. S-rank is rewarded when a task of great significance is performed in the nation's honor. Heroes are given names that start with an A, or S, depending on their ranks, and the same applies to their children. An A rank can upgrade to S, and vice versa.

Third-class nobles—this is held by individuals who have fallen from grace by losing their high status nobility, or commoners who worked their way up to become nobles.

Every status is attainable through hard work and determination, but it can also be degraded;

Umbraxis is a continent of 134 cities, each led by a counselor and under a single King's rule. On Umbraxis, elemental magic is a rarity, where dark and spatial magic users dominate. Their constant fighting and brutal nature have forged their unmatched strength and mastery of control over their magic.

In the heart of the Sacred nation lies Aegisville, where Ajax was born into a second-class noble family, and destined for greatness. His mother was originally from a first class noble family, but chose the path of heroism out of devotion to Goddess Tempus—the Goddess of time worshiped by the Sacred. His father hails from a second- class noble family, the Romanov family, a strong and influential family known for their heroism.

Even though Ajax was a kid, he could see his father and sister train relentlessly every day. He often overheard as the maids whispered in hopes of what he might possess once awakened. Though he didn't fully understand it all: he knew one thing was certain, this world had a lot in store for him.

A few weeks before Ajax's second birthday—an age where normally every child awakens, as of now Ajax could barely talk and hold his steps while walking. One evening, after Athena sang him a lullaby and put him to sleep, he felt a sudden shift in his body, he couldn't open his eyes nor make any movement or sound. A sudden void of darkness collapsed on him, yet nothing seemed like he was dying.

He tried opening his eyes, but there was nothing—absolute darkness.

"Why can't I see the ceiling?" He thought, "Mom?!"

Suddenly, a light began to emerge within the darkness and started to approach him. It grew larger and larger the closer it got.

"Mom? Dad?" Ajax tried to scream, but there were no echoing voices.

When the light got closer, the overwhelming void disappeared. What stood in front of him was a man with a sharp jawline, a young-looking face, no beard, and a stunning look.

Ajax began to tremble. "Why am I not looking up at him, are we the same height?" Ajax thought to himself as he took a glance at his body. He looked mature, he tried to touch his face, but there was nothing. All he could feel was a smoky sensation.

"What is going on?" Ajax thought to himself.

With a sharp yet deep and calm tone, the man spoke up, "Sorry for my imprudence." He bowed with a smirk. He seemed so playful and calm.

"I am God, a member of the Arc of Heaven."

Ajax's response in confusion "God? You look too young for a God."

God chuckled, and he replied, " Yes. And I am here to grant you something you will desperately need shortly."

"Wait… Are you here to give me my magic? Do you meet every child my age?" Ajax asked, his voice filled with curiosity, and excitement.

God sighed annoyingly, "Calm down, boy." He responded, "Yes, I am here to grant you magic, but I don't meet every child before they awaken."

Ajax's body into a smoky light.

"I must hurry up, huh? You are running out of time." God said "You will awaken all the elements your parents possess, but you will also need three ultimate skills.

"Since you are still a child and don't know any better, I will be choosing the first ultimate skill, and I will leave the rest to you"

"Why though?" Ajax asked.

"When the time comes, you will know," God responded.

With a snap of his fingers, Ajax was back in his body. Ajax started crying, and immediately his mother rushed over, tried to put him to sleep, but he couldn't sleep anymore.
