Lord of The Mysteries: Chained

Chapter 3: The Ragtag Crew

Biting his lip Caster wanted to curse out loud, during these few days he was carefully planning out his escape but the captain being a sequence 7 werewolf of the chained pathway made it harder.

Caster tried to remember what abilities a sequence 7 werewolf had.

He remembered a werewolf had terrifying strength, powerful regeneration and agility. Their claws and teeth were comparable to powerful Beyonder artifacts and could secrete venom.

If a human was poisoned with this venom they would become the werewolf's subordinate after some time. When a werewolf's venom infiltrates a human's body for a period of time they would transform into a similar creature but their lifespan would be short.

Caster's back broke out in a cold sweat as he remembered this. This pathway was broken; he had no way of defeating James unless he took advantage of his curse.

Caster could vaguely remember that every Beyonder in the chained pathway after sequence 8 would gain a weakness or a curse; this curse would last till sequence 4 of sequence 3.

Caster tried hard to remember a werewolf's curse but his mind turned a blank slate. Just as he was about to give up; a small glimpse of his memory appeared of werewolf Tyre fighting Klein.

His eyes widened with surprise as he inwardly exclaimed. A werewolf's curse was the full moon and luck seemed to be in his favor as a full moon was going to appear in a few days.

'This might not guarantee my escape but it will still give me a margin of success!'

It had been a day since that incident and Caster decided it was time to break out. The guards were currently on break and would be pretty easy to kill.

He hastily rushed to the dead man's side and dug his hand deep into the leftover piece of flesh. Caster wanted to puke but he resisted the urge to do so, he couldn't attract much attention.

The people around him looked at him in disgust because of his actions. A few seconds later he found the man's femur. Caster knew the bones wouldn't be able to cause much damage as it was blunt.

The only solution he could think of was to smack it against the deck and shape it into a dagger. He then freed his ankles from the chains he was put in and stood up.

Some people retched at his behaviour but he paid no mind to it. Clearing his throat, Caster soon whispered

"I'm going after the shipmates. Is anyone with me?!"

The crowd broke out into whispers but no one moved an inch. Caster sighed and was about to exit when a man's voice broke the hushed whispers

"Didn't you see how the others died?. You're just going to die no scratch, you'll be devoured by that Captain just give up. Why do you wanna die such a gruesome death?"

The man's voice had a tinge of concern but Caster shook his head.

"I don't want to wait here and get sacrificed to some evil god. What happens if that guy thinks one meal isn't enough?. I'd rather die knowing I at least tried to survive!"

During the past few days; Caster was in shock and had resigned himself to fate, but somehow when the Captain had atr poor man, Caster's will to live awoke. He decided then that it would be better to go out fighting then to die a dog's death.

He then turned his attention to the crowd. "Listen when I'm going to escape, I'll blow up the ammunition room and you are going to drown. You'll have two choices then

First is that I'll be free and we unite against the crew members, we'll then blow up the munitions room blowing everything to hell.

The second option is that I'll let all of you stay here and die; so who's with me?"

When the people heard this, their expressions twisted into one of rage.

"You're not only going to kill yourself but drag us with you?!"

"Who do you think you are; we'll just tell the guards about your plan!"

"You won't even be able to step a foot outside the room let alone the munitions room!"

Caster soon grinned: "If you're going to tell the guards I'll kill all of you right here!. Your screams will only make the guards think you're praying for help or well hunger. Since, no one's with me I'll be going!"

Although Caster put on a confident express, inwardly he was scared. His plan rested on the crowd joining him; he needed firepower to combat the guards.

But, what could he do; he had already broken his chains and there was no going back!.

Just as he opened the door a gruff expression called out.

"Wait, I'll join you!"

Caster's eyebrows shifted upwards: "Why did you join now?."

The man shrugged his shoulders: "What can I say, I was inspired by your speech"

Caster grinned and freed the man just then another voice broke out and soon another. In the end there were almost five people joining him; it was a small group but it was also big.

Caster freed all of them and walked out together with his ragtag crew filled with malnutritioned members.

"Well, let's introduce ourselves?!"

The gruff man spoke out first: "I'm Brian."

The second person to speak was the woman he previously saw: "I'm Sarah and this is my sister Olivia" she pointed to the smaller child clutching her hip.

The fourth was an elderly man close to his forties: "I'm Ralph"

The last was another women in her mid-twenties: "I'm Lily"

Sarah then spoke with curiosity "What is your name sir?"

Caster hesitated he was no longer Caster Noah, this was no longer his home. He was Caster Ashwood now.

"My name's Caster Ashwood and it would have been a pleasure to meet all of you if our current circumstances were not how it was!"
