Lord of Avalon : Lost in Another World

Chapter 10: A New Dawn of Quests

After a hearty breakfast made by Megumi and a refreshing bath, Ardi felt truly alive. Today was different—he wasn't stuck in the boring routines of his old life. With renewed energy, he sat at his desk in the morning light and activated his quest system.

The Overworld Quest Bar lit up on his HUD, showing a list of active missions: three Daily Quests, two Weekly Quests, and three Special Quests. His eyes sparkled as he said softly to Yui, "Tell me about our quest system, Yui. I want to make sure I know all the challenges we face today."

Yui, her silvery hair catching the light, floated over with a warm smile. "Of course, Master. The Overworld Quest System guides you in building the village, growing personally, and tackling challenges. We have three types of quests:

----------------------------------------

Daily Quests are routine tasks that help you improve your skills and manage the village.

Weekly Quests are bigger projects focused on building and exploring.

Special Quests happen during emergencies or special events and offer great rewards."

----------------------------------------

She continued, "Each quest gives you rewards like resources, tools, or Gacha Tickets. Daily quests range from White to Green, weekly ones from Green to Blue, and special quests from Blue to Red."

Ardi leaned back, a satisfied smile on his face. "And I can have up to ten active quests at once, right?" he asked, tapping his finger on the desk.

"Exactly," Yui replied affectionately. "That way, you can balance your training, village management, and any unexpected challenges."

He scanned the quest list:

Ardi's eyes shone with determination as he reviewed the list. "Today, I'll complete my morning jog and sharpen my skills with kenjutsu and archery," he said, excitement growing in his voice. Then he turned to Yui, his gaze soft and affectionate. "What do you think, my dear? Are we ready to tackle these quests?"

Yui laughed softly. "I'm always ready when I'm with you, Master. These quests will improve your skills and help make Minori Village stronger. It's a win-win."

As they talked, Ardi felt a deep sense of purpose. The dull routine of the past was gone, replaced by a life full of challenges and opportunities—a life where every quest completed brought him closer to his destiny.

After discussing the details, Ardi stood up and stretched. "Let's start this new day with energy and hope," he declared. "Today is the first step of a new beginning."

Yui floated up to him, her eyes shining with admiration. "I'm with you, Master. Together, we'll turn every challenge into an opportunity."

With that, Ardi stepped out into the crisp morning air, ready to jog five laps around the village, train with his trusted Ashigaru, and practice his archery. The Overworld Quest System wasn't just a list of tasks—it was a promise of growth, unity, and a future where Minori Village would flourish.

Later, after a refreshing bath and transforming his Zenith Garb into a sleek, gray training outfit with vibrant blue sneakers, Ardi set off on a slow but determined walk around Minori Village. He greeted each villager with a warm smile. Though he slowed down when tired, he always paused to catch his breath and then kept going.

During his two-hour walk of nearly 10 kilometers, Ardi admired his growing community. He looked at the two-story dojo with its polished wooden floors and the Shinto complex with its proud temple, ancient well, and quaint torii gates. These structures, symbols of the village's heritage, filled him with pride and hope.

High above, Yui flew alongside him, teasing, "Master, don't slow down too much—I'd hate to see you collapse before finishing your jog!"

Ardi chuckled, wiping a bead of sweat from his brow. "I'm savoring every moment, Yui. Every step reminds me how far we've come."

A young villager called out, "My lord, your determination inspires us all!"

Ardi waved and replied, "Thank you, and keep up the good work—you all make this village what it is."

After his walk, Ardi returned to Daimyo Manor to rest. Two hours later, still energized, he called Kenshin—a skilled Katana Ashigaru known for his mastery of Kenjutsu—into the dojo.

"Kenshin!" Ardi called, his voice filled with excitement.

The dojo door creaked open, and Kenshin stepped in calmly. "I'm ready, My Lord," he said, bowing slightly.

Ardi smiled, eyes sparkling. "Today, I want to learn proper Kenjutsu. I know the basics, but I need to refine my technique—my slashes, footwork, and dodging. Please, show me the right form."

Kenshin nodded and unsheathed his katana with a soft swish. "Watch closely and follow my movements."

Under the soft dojo light, Kenshin demonstrated the basic stance: feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent, and the body relaxed yet alert. His sword moved smoothly with crisp, precise cuts—whoosh, swoosh, shing.

"Start with the basic downward strike," Kenshin instructed. "Focus on balance and timing. Let your body move naturally."

Ardi imitated the move, concentrating hard. His first try was clumsy—his sword barely moved, and his footing was off. "Like this?" Ardi asked, a hint of frustration in his voice.

Kenshin stepped closer and gently put a hand on Ardi's shoulder. "You have the talent, My Lord. Trust your instincts and let the movement flow. Feel the rhythm."

Watching from the sidelines with amusement, Yui floated over. "Master, remember—it's like a dance between you and your blade. I know you can do it," she encouraged warmly.

Taking a deep breath, Ardi tried again. This time, his movements were smoother, though still not perfect. Kenshin nodded in approval. "Better. Now, add a quick dodge—shift your weight to avoid an attack."

During the sparring session that followed, Kenshin and Ardi exchanged controlled strikes. The sound of clashing steel and rhythmic footwork filled the dojo. Even though Ardi improved, he struggled to keep up with Kenshin's swift moves. A well-timed feint by Kenshin made Ardi stumble with a soft thud.

Catching his breath, Ardi admitted quietly, "I… I'm not there yet."

Kenshin smiled kindly. "Every master was once a beginner. You have a strong foundation—keep practicing and learning from every move."

Ardi nodded, wiping sweat from his brow. "Thank you, Kenshin. I'll work harder."

After training, Ardi addressed the shinobi and villagers watching from a distance. "Your support means everything. We learn together, and every challenge makes us stronger." A villager called out, "My Lord, your determination uplifts us all!"

Ardi smiled warmly. "Thank you. Remember, we're not just a community—we're a family."

Later that evening, as dusk settled over Minori Village, Ardi and Yui sat on a low stone wall overlooking the village square. Yui teased, "You were a bit clumsy today, weren't you?"

Ardi laughed softly, leaning into the teasing. "Maybe, but every fall makes me stronger."

Yui reached out and took his hand. "I'm proud of you, Master. Every step, even the missteps, is part of our journey."

Ardi's eyes softened. "And I couldn't do it without you. Together, we'll build a future for Minori Village—a future where everyone is treated like family."

As Ardi went to his room, he felt at peace. Every training session and lesson brought him closer to his destiny and deepened his bond with his people—and with Yui, his steadfast partner in this new life.
