Everyone stopped what they were doing and they were in shock that someone managed to get a fatal blow on dahlia in terms of combat power she over powers the medicis by a lot due to her weaponized body that is strong enough to combat a skull girl but a 16 year old boy managed to pierce his whole arm into her enough to draw blood and squigly herself was shocked too she did everything she and leviathan did everything they could to damage her but his flames bearly did anything but max damage her with little effort.

Max got his hand of black dahlia's stomach and she fell to her knees with blood dripping everywhere he then grabbed her gunned arm and he raised his knee and he put pressure and ripped it off her arm.

Black dahlia: Damn it.

Max looked down at black dahlia and he summed his black arms and made black sharp tendrils and launched them at dahlia's hand and feet piercing through and hanging her and he used his black arms again to create a small black blade and he looked at Dahlia's white eyes and he remembered that one of squigly's was missing and he promised to make this widdow suffer.

Max: you better get ready because I'm gonna make you suffer for what you did to her.

Dahlia felt fear but she hid it with a comeback.

Black dahlia: what you want praise from a dead girl? That's sad and besides you don't have the guts.

Max's gaze turned from cold to question he put a hand on his chin and he looked at squigly how was watching with a bit of fear.

Max: hey squigly do you want to kill her yourself or do want me to do it for you?

Squigly: why would ask me that?

Max: she is the one who killed you and I don't really have right to kill this bitch so I'm asking you if you want to do it you do have the right and I'm not forcing you to do this I'm giving you a choice kill you killer or let me what do you want to do?

Squigly really thought about this she never directly killed someone sure there's her mother but she only helped with black dahlia she doesn't like blood on her hands but at the same would she no better than her? She honestly doesn't know what to do.

Leviathan: squigly

That voice the only one that she stood by her side even after death she looked up and leviathan was looking at her with a bit of worry.

Leviathan: max said that he is giving you a choice what ever you choose I'll will stand by you.

Max let his grip go and stood aside but he decided to give squigly a little head start.

Squigly touched her missing eye socket and a phantom pain came back and she look like dahlia who was sweating squigly grabbed dahlia's face and thrust the blade into her left eye.

A cry of pain rang out and once again everyone stopped and saw black dahlia holding her left eye with blood running down her face dahlias looked at squigly with a mix of fear and hatred but that didn't last long when she saw that squigly was looking at her with empty eyes.

Squigly: leviathan.

Leviathan: yes squigly?

Squigly: burn her.

Leviathan: with pleasure.

With on fire breath black dahlia was burning on the ground before leviathan's fire didn't do anything was because of her protective body but now that it has gaps his flames can start doing damage.

Everyone watch in shock seeing the high ranking assassin of medicis reduced to a burning corpse and after the fire dispersed and black dahlia was nothing more then a burnt corpse.

But then squigly felt dizzy due to the realization of what she did and she collapsed but max caught her and layed her down gently and he looked at Dahlia's goons with an intense glare.

Max: since you girls are loyal to a mad woman and probably did things to get her phrase you don't deserve mercy.

Max took the small blade that squigly dropped and he disappeared and one by one the goons were cut fatally enough to kill them or some lost limbs after he was done black dahlia and her goons were dead.

But unknowingly to max and the others they were being watched by Marie the current skull girl who sensed a commotion and she decided to check it out when she saw black dahlia attacking the egrets she wanted to attack her but one thing after another happened and she didn't know whether to interfere or just let it play out but that change into the boy came he easy injured dahlia and she saw how he made the offer of squigly to kill dahlia herself she thought that she was gonna say now but surprisingly she actually wanted to do it and she gouged out her eye and burned her to death Marie knew from the memories of the previous skullgirl Selene Contiello that squigly was a sweet girl and seeing like this she felt that her mother's soul stird but seeing the boy making sure that squigly is okay and the he killed all of dahlia's goons Marie was curious about him and she decided when the time came she meet him in person.

Early morning infirmary

Squigly woke up and she noticed she was in a in a hospital bed and she saw leviathan and max looking at her.

Leviathan: thank goodness you actually woke up I was worried that you were dead squigly.

Max: and I just told him that you took too much damage one of your legs was shot through with I heard was a lightning bullet from that woman and your arms apparently were blown off during the fight but regenerated quickly but your healing factor was wearing down and that explains when you were asleep your healing factor was fast again.

Squigly: so if I take too much damage my healing factor won't heal me quickly?

Max: yeah at first I thought it was gonna but it seem you pushing your body too much through the fight but looks like your healing factor has two weaknesses your head and too much damage.

Squigly: so if dahlia shot me I would have been dead again!?

Max: yeah good thing I came sorry for not being here sooner if I knew I would have stayed.

Leviathan: you couldn't have predicted this don't blame yourself McKnight.

Max: thanks but still.

It was quite for a while until squigly broke it with a question.

Squigly: why?

Squigly: why did you ask me if I kill dahlia you could have just killed her yourself but why did you ask me if I want to kill her myself.

Max: moline told me that you were curious about my background well I was adopted into a family with 3 pure souls for sisters and mothers but they still took me in and mikado went through hell to give me the life I want but I wanted to pay her back for taking me in and so I became an exorcist I don't have some big goal to be the number one exorcist or anything all I want is to protect my family and grow strong and I swore to myself if anyone hurts my family they will start a war with me and some dumb ass tried taking my mother away from me to use her as a subject for expiraments and I made sure that he paid dearly.

Max looked at squigly with sympathy.

Max: you and I kinda had the same scenario but your family was killed and you are the only one left so when you confirmed that woman killed you I thought since it was your family that was killed you had the right to kill her back to at least there is one less threat in the world I can tell you never killed anyone before but don't see it as a bad thing killing isn't a exactly a bad thing if anything only people like that woman deserve to die for what they have done.

Squigly look at max's eyes that were focused on the window and she felt every word he said was a firm belief in his mind and honestly she can respect that but still a part of her felt uncomfortable.

Max noticed and he hugged squigly gently and she hugged back

Max: it's hard to have blood on your hands but all I can say is that with time you will get use to it.

Squigly let out sobs and tears because her fear of black dahlia is gone and the fact that she is still alive made her feel like a miracle family happened she didn't let go.

After a while she let go and they stood In silence until leviathan ask something that he was curious.

Leviathan: McKnight if I may ask are the strongest in your world because you displayed incredible strength that not even parasites can do.

Max took a swig of a soda can he bought along the way and he stopped to answer him.

Max: nope I'm not the strongest person in my world.

Squigly and leviathan were shock that he admitted that he wasn't even the strongest one in his own world and of course is hard to believe thanks to his display of power so if they admitted that the 16 year old boy wasn't even the strongest.

Squigly: how come you aren't considered the strongest you defeated those mobs and black dahlia like they were nothing.

Max: I'm not in the top I'm more like in the middle of the pile the strongest exorcist are the older ones and but the best of the best are three the shark the detective and the dragon.

Leviathan: the shark and the dragon make since but why a detective?

Max: right you don't know well in the EXO corporation there a second department that is the investigation department I'm more like a part time member but that aside Miguel is the best detective in the department and he is my closest mentor he isn't physically strong but he still has a lot of experience and trick up his sleeve.

Squigly: so what makes him the strongest?

Max: he has a guide that is really powerful to the point that it can wipe out an entire building.

Leviathan: incredible. What about the shark and the dragon?

Max: well the shark is actually the most physically gifted of people Jonathan is considered the biggest tank in years because Miguel and a few of my teammates had trouble keeping up with a lost soul until Jonathan came and he easily killed that thing like it was nothing that's what I've heard as for the dragon he is the one who taught me how to use a sword and also the reason why he is called the dragon it's because he has the spirit of the dragon.

Squigly and leviathan were in awe of this they could tell that max is talking about these three people with respect.

Squigly: moline said that your objective isn't to kill all the lost souls why is that?

Max: well like moline said the lost souls are humans too..some are just lost and confused or some just want to accept that they are human but some find pleasure in causing pain to others and some lost souls can be turned into pure souls if they have some semblance of humanity left but that's really rare.

Leviathan: so some are just harmless and some just love causing trouble.

Max: that's the whole jizz of it.

Max then got up and turned to leave but squigly wanted to say one last thing.

Squigly: max.

Max: yeah?

With that he left now it was just squigly and leviathan and he was the one who broke the silence.

Leviathan: I had my suspicions about the boy but he seemed to be a good person what are your thoughts squigly?

Squigly thought back on how max acted in tensed situation and when he saw the worried he had when he injured the Medici and he was genuinely concerned and the fact that he has compassion says a lot.

Squigly: he healed the Medici girl even though they were there to kill him and if he wasn't there the egrets would have probably killed us so I guess max is rare kind of good.

Leviathan: indeed and if I'm being honest hope it stays that way.

Squigly: I'll say I've been active for quite a while and experimenting all of this in one night was somewhat nice I'm glad that I can sleep with out being dead for another decade.

Leviathan: true that.

On the hallway max was going to make sure a the Medici girl is okay she did the stupidest thing and move while her injuries were still in a critical state and he will make sure to give her an earful.
