Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: Power Leveling (2)
Chapter 19: Power Leveling (2)
On Saturday, we gathered at the main gate, just like last time. Senior Camille wore a hand-me-down breastplate from home, and Professor Kabaneru sported sturdy leather boots. They were both full of enthusiasm.
This time, we started from the second basement. As Professor Kabaneru could now use the shotgun, the second floor quickly became insufficient, prompting us to descend to the third. With seamless coordination evident there too, we finally descended to the fourth floor.
The fourth floor housed troublesome dragonflies, making it an unpopular level. However, for the earth attribute capable of using shotguns, it was an excellent hunting ground. Professor fired the shotgun, and Camille and I effortlessly took care of any stragglers. It’s a lucrative hunting ground even solo, but the stability with three is incomparable. Although the earnings are divided, party play is truly enjoyable. If there’s ever a rewind, I’ll invite these two and form a party from the beginning.
I quickly reached my target level 11 and raised the skill level of Stone Bullet to 4, finally acquiring the coveted Stone Blast. After learning this skill, there was something I really wanted to try, but I hesitated about involving these two. Despite some reservations about sharing strategy knowledge, I trusted these two and decided to proceed with the plan.
A dungeon map purchased from the guild had a large cross marked in one corner.
“When we enter this room, I’ll cast the first spell. Please handle any stragglers.”
With Professor finishing his incantation behind me and Camille readying her spear, we opened the door to a hall the size of an auditorium. The door closed automatically, and from the darkness, a tremendous sound of wings echoed. It was a “Monster House,” a room where you couldn’t leave until you defeated them all.
“Stone Blast!”
Countless stone fragments exploded towards the rapidly approaching dragonflies. Most of them turned into coins and feathers in an instant, but four managed to dodge the debris. Professor and Camille shot them down effortlessly.
Coins and feathers scattered at our feet. While they stood there in amazement, I eagerly began collecting them.
“Alexi, what was that just now?”
“The skill is Stone Blast, part of Stone Bullet.”
“No, I mean your incantation.”
“Yes, regarding the incantation, I have a small favor to ask the professor.”
Good. The flow for proposing the research on incantation cancellation with the professor is in place.
“Earth attribute skills are amazing…”
“Senior, you should be able to use spatial contraction in spear techniques soon, right?”
“Really?!”
Good. Senior started trying out a new skill. Monster Houses are quite profitable. With this, I made a killing in the adjacent Wind Dungeon before.
Afterward, we repeated the entry and exit from the Monster House, earning an astonishing amount of experience points. To avoid attracting attention with such an unconventional experience point farming method, I suggested for now I would take care of the feathers and gradually submit them to the guild. Both agreed to the idea, promising not to disclose this information.
The spawn of dragonflies in the Monster House was 36 per round, with 9 in 4 groups. With breaks and lunch in between, a total of 18 times. Although we could continue, collecting coins and drops became somewhat tedious. Just as I reached level 12, we called it a day.
With coins alone, around 200,000 gold. With nearly 700 drop items, selling them all amounted to 70,000 gold. I delivered some of the drop items to the guild on the way back, added them to the adventurer achievements, distributed 60,000 gold each, and disbanded. I took charge of most of the drop items and the fractional coins. Although the two were reluctant to accept rewards since I defeated most enemies, they will be involved in various things from now on, so consider it an initial investment.
Party members, acquired!
The next day, I went out with Professor Kabaneru again. But before that,
“About the incantation from yesterday…”
Professor promptly brought up the matter of incantation cancellation. However, more importantly,
“Professor, is it about time you can use humus for decayed leaves?”
This is a flower bed. Professor hesitated before presenting Landscape Decayed Soil Humus. Then, the nearby soil beautifully transformed into soft, fluffy black soil. Upon closer inspection, there were even remnants of fallen leaves mixed in. It must be a softly implemented “feature” of the game world, but how exactly does this skill work?
Professor held the humus for a while, deeply moved. What a simple-minded teacher. However, it’s pointless to stay still here. Today is Professor’s makeover plan. Alright, let’s head to the town.
