Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: Beginner Dungeon (3)
Chapter 15: Beginner Dungeon (3)
Gathering my composure, I decided to explore the beginner dungeon on Sunday. Despite my boots being partially melted, I paid no mind. Unlike the intermediate dungeon, if I navigate skillfully, there shouldn’t be much danger.
While waiting in line at the entrance, adventurers I encountered at the guild yesterday evening were whispering and looking in my direction. But that’s not a problem. I am going to hunt insects solo from now on and prove that “this guy really hunted those frogs yesterday.”
I’m already familiar with this beginner dungeon. I circled through it many times in the previous loop. I bypassed the nostalgic first floor, skipped the second and third floors, and descended to the fourth floor where Dragonflies spawn.
Dragonflies are unpopular. They don’t have abnormal status attacks, but they fly swiftly, making them challenging to defeat. Therefore, there are few adventurers who make the fourth floor their hunting ground. Even though the Dragonfly incident on the first day left me traumatized, despite being suitable for my Earth attribute, I tried to avoid them as much as possible. However, after relentlessly hunting flying monsters in the neighboring territory, I earned the title Wing Killer. Dragonflies are such adorable creatures. Now, from today, you guys will be the hunted. I will hunt you down.
Away from the adventurers aiming for the lower levels, I circled around the fourth-floor Dragonfly spawn point. Dragonflies, around 30 centimeters long, are grotesque and creepy, and they spawn in multiples. As someone who dislikes insects, I shudder, but with Stone Bullet at level 2 and the Scattergun Shotgun, there’s no monster as delicious as this. The Scattergun Shotgun skill shoots about 10 stone bullets from Stone Bullet, targeting multiple enemies. With my current DEX precision, there’s a difficulty in accuracy, but any misses are compensated with a spear thrust. Since Dragonflies usually spawn in groups of 2 to 4, their attacks are mostly avoided, and I hunt them swiftly.
My level didn’t rise easily. Subjectively, the experience required for a level up increases almost the same as the total amount before. The higher you go, the harder it gets. In that case, it’s all about quantity. Until my MP runs out, I shoot down Dragonflies with the Scattergun Shotgun, occasionally using the spear to hunt Scarabs and Grasshoppers. After a full round, I take a break in the safe zone. Since I raised POW for the power to defeat Frogs in one hit yesterday, even tough insect-type monsters are nothing to fear. And the inventory is quietly convenient. I put all the bulky drop items and unused money during battle in it, making it a hands-free journey.
Two levels in the morning, one level in the afternoon. Although I defeated over 100 monsters on the fourth floor, today’s adventure ends here. Since I mainly increased POW yesterday to defeat Frogs, I lacked a bit of MP to overhunt Dragonflies. I really wanted to raise two more levels and get Stone Blast, but that will be next week’s pleasure.

As for today’s earnings, Dragonflies are 300 gold each, and the drop item wings are 100 gold. Others range from 250 to 350 gold, and drop items are 50 to 100 gold. Collecting them, I have about 25,000 gold coins, and the materials I sold to the guild are around 10,000 gold. At the counter, I attracted attention again. However, it’s in the sense of clearing yesterday’s stigma. It’s only natural. The rookie who registered as an adventurer yesterday brought in drop items from intermediate monsters and was suspected of cheating. Today, I came and hunted numerous unpopular Dragonflies on the fourth floor of the beginner dungeon.
Honestly, in this world, it’s a relief that the status screen is not known. It would be troublesome if people were to inquire why I, who was genuinely weak at level 1 yesterday morning, suddenly aimed for the intermediate level and hunted frogs. But as long as the status is not visible, I can say, “Before becoming an adventurer, I secretly trained,” if questioned.
Regarding expenses, I brought my boots to the armor shop for repairs on the way back, so the earnings of these two days were offset. They were sturdy but slightly expensive boots. The old man noticed it was due to Frog acid, scolded me harshly, but when I offered lip service, saying, “Thanks to the armor, I was able to survive safely,” he seemed somewhat pleased.
Now, with two more levels, I can obtain Stone Bullet at level 4 and Stone Blast. A skill that was a great help in the previous loop. Looking forward to next week’s dungeon attack.
