Lookism: New Life

Chapter 2: CHAPTER 2-A New Life Begins

Ryu clenched the note in his hands, his mind racing. His brother was gone. Just like that. No explanation, no clue where he went—only a promise that he would reveal himself when the time was right.

"Damn it, Rio… why didn't you at least wait for me?" he muttered under his breath.

But standing here feeling sorry for himself wouldn't change anything. If this was truly the Lookism world, he needed to act fast.

Ryu took a deep breath and looked around. The small room was exactly how he remembered from the webtoon—messy, cramped, and barely livable.

"So this is Daniel's home after moving out from his old house... How am I supposed to live in a place like this?" Ryu thought, shaking his head.

Then he remembered something—the red orb's words. He had received a system. It wasn't much, but for him, it was extremely useful.

"System!" he called out.

A blue screen suddenly appeared in front of him:

[NAME:DANIEL PARK (RYU)]

[STRENGTH: F]

[ENDURANCE: F]

[SPEED: F]

[POTENTIAL: SSS]

[INTELLIGENCE: A]

Ryu's eyes twitched. "Damn, I'm really weak… but my potential is insane. And my intelligence is pretty high. I wonder what my brother's stats look like…"

Just as he thought that, another screen popped up.

[YOU CAN ONLY VIEW THE STATS OF PEOPLE WHO ARE VISIBLE TO YOU.]

Ryu smirked. "This ability is really useful."

"I need to start training immediately. In a few days, I'll have to attend J High, and if I don't lose weight before then, I'll definitely get bullied."

He glanced at the clock.

7:48 AM.

Without wasting any more time, he headed outside. His first goal—basic endurance training. He started running, his heavy body protesting with every step.

After finishing a lap around the neighborhood, he dropped down and began doing push-ups.

1… 2… 5… 10… 15… 20…

His arms gave out, and he collapsed onto the ground, sweat dripping from his entire body. Panting, he forced himself up and walked to a nearby pull-up bar. His hands, already shaking from the push-ups, barely allowed him to complete ten reps before he fell back down.

Still, he wasn't done. He got up and started running again, pushing himself as far as his body could handle. His breath came in ragged gasps, his legs burning with every step. Eventually, exhaustion overtook him, and he stumbled back home before he could pass out on the streets.

As soon as he reached his small apartment, he collapsed onto the floor, his vision going dark.

Ryu woke up, his entire body sore. Every muscle ached from the intense training he had pushed himself through the previous day.

Groaning, he forced himself to sit up, only for his stomach to rumble loudly. He needed to eat.

He searched around the small apartment and found a single cup of instant noodles. Quickly, he prepared it and ate, sighing in satisfaction once he was done. As he stretched, he noticed something—his body had already lost some weight.

"Good… but I need to lose it faster."

That's when a thought struck him—Sophia! In the manhwa, she had trained Daniel so hard that he lost all his weight in a single day! While Ryu knew he wouldn't be able to achieve that without her, the method itself was still effective.

Determined, he headed to the nearest forest, searching for a suitable challenge. After some walking, he found a rock wall—perfect for climbing.

He took a deep breath and started climbing.

The first few attempts were brutal. His grip kept slipping, his body too heavy to pull up properly. He fell multiple times, his hands and arms throbbing from the effort. But he didn't give up. After several attempts, he finally managed to reach the top.

But it still wasn't enough.

"I need to push harder," he thought.

Recalling the manhwa, he decided to add weight to his back while training. It would make things even more difficult, but it was necessary if he wanted faster results.

As the sun began to set, Ryu made his way home. He didn't eat anything that night—another step in his rapid weight-loss plan.

This routine continued until Saturday. Every day, he climbed the rock wall, gradually increasing the weight on his back. Push-ups, pull-ups, squats, and running—he did them all while carrying the extra load. It wasn't easy. His body screamed in pain, but he refused to stop.

And by Saturday night, he had done it. He had lost all the excess weight!

"Tomorrow is Sunday. That means I have one day to prepare for school."

Ryu knew he needed a plan in case things went south. If trouble came his way, he could get help from Vasco, Zack, and Vin.

Vasco would be the easiest to befriend, Zack could be convinced by bringing up Johan, and Vin… well, all he had to do was tell Vin that Taejin was still alive.

Thinking about all this, a smirk formed on Ryu's lips.

"This is going to be interesting."

Satisfied, he lay down and drifted off to sleep.
