Ch 24
Chapter 24: Divine Child
The goods carried by the large caravan were unmatched by the small merchant caravans that stopped outside the Black Snake Tribe, both in terms of quantity and quality.
Fine local fabrics, spices, and salt from the barbaric world; food and ingredients with regional characteristics; Ye Ze even saw various seafood in one of the cargo boxes.
Ye Ze picked out all the unique varieties from this plane, grabbed all the live plants and seeds, and took most of the items he was interested in as future supplies for himself and the little snake sub-beast.
If the little snake sub-beast was curious, he bought it! If the little snake sub-beast looked at it a few more times, he bought it! If the little snake sub-beast might like it and stay for a while, he bought, bought, bought!
The leader accompanying Ye Ze was simply stunned.
Was this orc trying to buy their entire caravan in one go?!
No, wait. He still hadn’t seen those precious cultivation resources stored in the storage rings.
But considering his unfathomable cultivation level now, they might actually be useful.
If he bought everything…
Hiss—
The leader took a sharp intake of breath in his mind.
Could this guy be a descendant of a great clan from the Dragon Palace City?
But how could a descendant of a great clan not know about the auxiliary cultivation Beast God Stones?
In the tent, the leader watched Ye Ze examining the appearance of the 7th-grade Beast God Stone, feeling that the origin of this orc became even more mysterious.
A 7th-grade Beast God Stone corresponded to a beast king-level powerhouse. For his caravan, it was equivalent to a priceless treasure.
If Ye Ze hadn’t boldly settled the expenses of the goods outside before coming here, the leader wouldn’t have easily taken it out for Ye Ze to inspect.
As it turned out, the leader’s bold decision once again achieved extraordinary success.
After considering the internal and external value of the Beast God Stone, Ye Ze collected all the Beast God Stones in their inventory.
Along with them, a large number of refining materials and pharmaceutical ingredients were also bought.
Ye Ze’s journey can be described as fruitful.
And the leader also benefited greatly.
He exchanged a large number of unheard-of and unseen items from Ye Ze, including food, utensils, clothing, accessories, and even highly efficient healing potions!
The hands of the leader receiving these traded goods were trembling slightly.
Even though they hadn’t returned to the town yet, he could already envision the bright future ahead.
This was definitely the most colorful stroke in his merchant career!
Ye Ze, who brought new life to the caravan, was warmly welcomed.
The orcs lit bonfires, set up grills, and began to experiment with the new spices they acquired today. Just lifting the lid released pure fragrances, some of which made people salivate uncontrollably, while others had a spicy and pungent aroma.
But without exception, when sprinkled on the sizzling golden-brown meat, they all brought endless delightful flavors.
“In the name of the Beast God, I have never eaten anything so delicious! Ye Ze, you’re amazing!”
Even the most reserved leader couldn’t help but have oil dripping from his mouth at this moment. The wild and unrestrained nature unique to the barbaric world was unmistakable as he laughed heartily, patting Ye Ze on the back as if they were old friends.
Meanwhile, the little snake sub-beast carefully brewed bone soup on the side. Because he had generously added enough for the caravan members to taste (which was too much for him to handle), the cooking time for dinner was significantly extended.
Hearing the thumping sound of the orc’s pats, the little snake sub-beast, stirring the fragrant bone soup behind the huge pot, thought he was concealing it well as he glared at the leader’s hand with puffed-up eyes.
You’re patting too hard.
What if Ye Zi gets hurt!
The little snake sub-beast picked up a ladle, his heart bursting with indignation. As he ladled the soup, he tilted it slightly away from the leader’s bowl, adding a little less.
But seeing only a thin layer at the bottom of the bowl, he felt it wasn’t quite right. So he added a bit more.
Just a little over half a bowl.
The little snake sub-beast looked at Ye Ze’s bowl, which was full, and then at the other bowl on the table.
Hmm.
He couldn’t embarrass Ye Zi like this, making him look stingy!
Add a bit more.
Finally, the leader’s bowl was three-quarters full of soup.
But even with everyone having full bowls, it was still quite noticeable.
The little snake sub-beast stared at the bowl in front of him, furrowing his brow in distress. Then, reluctantly, he added another piece of meat bone.
Now it was just a shallow layer below a flat bowl.
Perfect!
The tip of the little snake sub-beast’s tail curled up. As if he had accomplished something great, he shook it happily. He picked up the tray, ready to serve the food.
Ye Ze and the leader were much more sensitive than the little snake sub-beast, and they had received the little snake sub-beast’s signal of protest long ago. After watching the whole process of the little snake sub-beast’s special treatment, they both laughed.
“Ye Ze, one should really know how not to offend in every aspect,” the leader joked with feigned lament.
Ye Ze smiled and admitted generously, “As long as you know.”
The leader, caught off guard, choked on his food again. He began to consider whether he should also find a suitable person to start a family with after returning home.
Having such a lovely partner who secretly defended him, he couldn’t help but feel warm and happy at the thought.
“Nuo Nuo, come and have dinner with us.” Ye Ze stood up, met the little snake sub-beast, took the tray from him, and led him to the seat.
The little snake sub-beast was led forward for a while, still eagerly looking back. Seeing that Ye Ze had no intention of stopping, he couldn’t help but anxiously remind, “Ye Zi, the soup.” It hadn’t been delivered to everyone yet.
“No worries.” The leader waved generously, calling out to a nearby orc, “Lantu, help Xiao An distribute the soup. They specially prepared good stuff for you guys. How can we trouble them to run errands again?”
“Sure thing.” The orc named Lantu flashed a simple smile. Putting down the barbecue, he wiped his mouth and stood up. With a table full of orcs, they all headed towards the direction of the soup pot.
Passing by the little snake sub-beast, Lantu smiled and thanked him, “Thanks, Xiao An little brother. I’ve been smelling it from afar, and I’m really craving it!”
“It’s all thanks to Brother Ye’s blessings! And thanks to Brother Ye, otherwise, we wouldn’t have tasted Xiao An’s cooking.” There were even some jokes between the two.
Then followed a wave of good-natured laughter.
The little snake sub-beast was surrounded by the friendly attitude of the orcs, standing still, somewhat bewildered, blinking his eyes. Unable to help but happily pat his tail tip. After a while, he realized the meaning behind the orcs’ words and lowered his head in embarrassment.
“Feeling better now?” Ye Ze asked him with a smile.
“Yeah!” The little snake sub-beast tightly held Ye Ze’s hand, nodding vigorously.
Around him, the orcs who had tasted the soup showed joy and praise. It was their recognition of him and the food he made.
Nuo Nuo was super happy!
He felt a sense of fulfillment!
“Then let’s go back to the table.” Ye Ze tightened his grip on the little snake sub-beast’s hand, pulling him up and shaking him gently, “Nuo Nuo has been busy for so long, it’s time to eat.”
This time, the little snake sub-beast didn’t hesitate. He obediently followed Ye Ze and took a seat at the main table.
Before, the little snake sub-beast was too busy cooking to observe the changes in the camp. Now that he had some free time and was attending such a gathering for the first time, and constantly receiving everyone’s welcome, the little snake sub-beast hugged the groundhog that had climbed onto his tail belly, feeding himself and Gray, while curiously observing the lively scene of the banquet.
First, there were the laughing orcs.
Then there was the fire leaping like a five-bladed knife.
Following that, on the central high platform of the bonfire, there was a deer-shaped sculpture adorned with wine, meat, and fruit.
What is that?
The little snake sub-beast pondered.
Could it be an image of the beast god?
“That’s the mountain spirit worshipped by all traveling caravans. It blesses us with smooth journeys, at least without encountering ***. But in recent years, the environment across the entire continent has begun to deteriorate. So, the journeys of various caravans have been more or less affected.”
The leader noticed the little snake sub-beast’s curious gaze and kindly explained to him. However, as he spoke, he inadvertently brought up his own troubles.
Realizing his mistake, he couldn’t help but smile bitterly, “Sorry, I said something I shouldn’t have. I hope I didn’t disturb your mood.”
“I won’t. On the contrary, I’m very curious about the situation in various places on the continent. If you don’t mind, I would like you to tell me more about the changes in the situation,” Ye Ze shook his head and brought up one of the purposes of his trip.
“Of course. Ye Ze, as long as you don’t mind me rambling,” the leader readily agreed, and he and Ye Ze began discussing the situation.
The leader’s personality itself was very much to his liking, and Ye Ze was also his big client, so he naturally wouldn’t be stingy with this information.
The little snake sub-beast’s simple mind couldn’t understand these things. So, after listening to the legend of the mountain spirit, he started staring at the statue of the mountain spirit in a trance.
The general shape of the mountain spirit resembled a stag. It’s just that the two deer antlers on top resembled branches, and on the sharp tip of the right one, there was even a small tender leaf. This added a bit of delicate cuteness to its overall majestic posture.
So beautiful.
The little snake sub-beast praised in his heart.
“Squeak!” The groundhog seemed to hear the little snake sub-beast’s thoughts and exploded its fur angrily. Standing up, it used its small claws to scratch the little snake sub-beast’s chest a few times.
It was like a big girl coming to demand payment from a faithless man.
“What’s wrong? Suddenly angry.” The little snake sub-beast, with a good temper, held its small claws and shook them, pinching its paw pads, “Are you not full?”
“Squeak squeak squeak!” The groundhog looked at him, still unable to stop peering at the statue, and became so angry that it scratched its claws, put its hands on its hips, and yelled loudly: Why do you always look at that stupid deer! Isn’t it cute and delicate?
The little snake sub-beast tilted his head in confusion, not understanding why it was at odds with a statue. After several attempts to feed it with no success, he pouted in frustration.
Clearly, both the little one and the little two are happy to share, so why is Gray so jealous?
“Ah, it’s probably like this now.” On the other side, the conversation between the leader and Ye Ze gradually came to an end, emitting a feeling of frustration not inferior to that of the little snake sub-beast, “Anyway, let’s hope that the divine child of the Dragon Palace can communicate with the spirits soon and appease their emotions. Only then can we live smoothly.”
The groundhog crossed its arms and turned its head away, refusing to interact with the little snake sub-beast, vowing to make him realize the seriousness of his wavering feelings. Hearing the leader’s prayer, its pretended indifferent expression broke, and it rolled its eyes with extreme disdain.
The divine child has long been lost by you guys, and you still want to communicate with them!
I won’t listen, it’s all lies!
Anyway, it, the World Spirit of Earth, absolutely won’t spend that energy to soothe the earth for you.
It’s already short of time to find communicators! Not like that black-and-white short-winged bird that wraps around the rivers everywhere, it’s already giving you face not to do that!
The groundhog shook its ears and vented its frustration by punching and kicking the few dragon dolls in its heart.
