Little Family Treasure of the Apocalyptic Boss

Ch 03

Chapter 3: Medicine

“What are you doing?”

As the questioning voice fell, a terrifying killing intent instantly locked onto the four beastmen. The next moment, the beastmen only felt a gust of wind whistling by their side, and their entire bodies were sent flying, breaking several thick trees before finally coming to a halt.

The four beastmen spat out blood, feeling as if their bones were about to be shattered. Lying on the ground one after another, they were scared out of their wits by the sudden appearance of a powerful beastman. Stiffening their bodies, they dared not move.

Ye Ze, without even glancing at them, quickly walked to the side of the little snake sub-beast and helped him up. Seeing the snake sub-beast’s battered body, his brows furrowed.

The punches and kicks suddenly disappeared from his body. An Nuo was initially momentarily confused.

In his past experiences, there had never been such a presence, as if a beast god had descended, saving him in times of danger.

Until Ye Ze gently lifted him up with his warm and broad hands, An Nuo finally felt the true sense of being rescued.

Like a drowning person clinging to the only piece of driftwood, An Nuo’s slender fingers tightly grasped Ye Ze’s clothes on his chest. His voice choked several times, but he couldn’t hold back anymore.

“Wu… wuwa!”

In that moment, all the accumulated grievances and fears seemed to explode. An Nuo, leaning against this person like his favorite black gem, tears fell down like beads that had lost their string, completely beyond his control.

But the crying was not a release of emotions.

An Nuo cried more and more anxiously, worried that he had caused trouble for Ye Ze, afraid that Ye Ze would find him annoying and troublesome, afraid that Ye Ze would dislike him like others…

Heavy fears piled up. In the end, even the crying became incoherent. It was as if he was gasping for breath at any moment.

The rhythmic sound of a heartbeat followed.

Ye Ze had initially guessed that the little snake sub-beast’s life was difficult, but he hadn’t expected the living conditions of the little snake sub-beast to be so harsh.

The overlord of the apocalypse sighed inwardly. The hand that had been circling An Nuo’s back responded with a comforting hug. The other hand gently fell on An Nuo’s head, stroking his hair.

“It’s okay. Don’t be afraid.”

Clearly not sweet words of comfort. In fact, because it had been a long time since the overlord of the apocalypse had softened his tone to console someone, his voice sounded a bit stiff.

But magically, An Nuo calmed down.

Apart from the hiccuping sobs that had not subsided, he obediently stayed in Ye Ze’s arms.

As if in reward, Ye Ze rubbed his soft hair again. His gaze shifted to the nearby group of beastmen who were struggling to climb up. As gentle as his language was, his expression was equally stern.

“Can you tell me why you came here?”

“I, I came to exchange goods with him.” An Nuo answered in an ultra-soft voice.

His voice carried a hoarseness from crying.

But it still sounded tender and sweet.

“Okay.” Ye Ze nodded. “Wait for me here; I’ll be right back.”

“Okay.” An Nuo’s earlobes quietly turned the color of red apples, and his cheeks were shamefully flushed. Holding his tail tightly, he sat there with his hands clasped, expressing that he would be obedient.

A hint of amusement crossed Ye Ze’s eyes. He released An Nuo and stood up.

Walking up to the leading beastman, he stepped on his head, sending the young beastman, who had just managed to prop himself up, back into the mud.

“What are you doing? Show me what you’re trading.” Ye Ze dangerously narrowed his eyes, and a chilling killing intent was already locked onto Hei Mang.

It was the kind of gaze that looked down on ants, indifferent to their lives.

If the answer was not satisfactory, someone would truly die!

Hei Mang’s mind went blank, trembling all over, even the last bit of thought about trying to escape vanished.

He didn’t dare to resist Ye Ze’s suppression. In a somewhat awkward posture, lying prostrate on the ground, he nervously reached into the leather bag and took out a brand new shell box.

Before he could even place it on the ground, he hurriedly pleaded, “It’s all here.”

The spineless manner of surrender made the Overlord of the Apocalypse look down on him even more.

“Remember this lesson.” Ye Ze increased the force on his foot again. Overlooking the ground that oozed blood, his voice, colder than ice, said, “If there’s a next time, be prepared to die.”

Out of consideration for the little snake sub-beast, Ye Ze did not kill him. The little snake sub-beast, who liked black so much, probably still harbored some illusions about the Black Snake Tribe. Even if those beautiful dreams disappeared, this troublemaker should not be him.

Ye Ze indifferently withdrew his warning gaze. With a slight lift of his wrist, a slender green vine emerged from the soil, carrying the shell box, which Ye Ze held out in his open palm. Then it withered and fell, dissolving into nothingness.

The immense suppression of Ye Ze departed, leaving behind only a casual and indifferent remark that drifted in the wind.

“Also, don’t let anyone know about today’s events.”

Half of Hei Mang’s face pressed into the uneven soil, the other half swollen beyond recognition. Before the malice of revenge in his heart could rise, he was frightened by the miraculous vine, shrinking like a cicada in cold silence. His deep green pupils suddenly contracted into lines, shaking uncontrollably.

Concentrating the force.

At least that was a strongman at the Beast Marshal level.

And what was a Beast Marshal?

Beast Power Cultivation Levels: Soldier, Officer, General, Marshal, King, Emperor. As well as in the holy land of the Dragon Palace City, the level that commanded the entire beast world: Beast Emperor!

Beastmen who could cultivate into Beast Marshals were already qualified to become the masters of a large tribe.

In a small and remote tribe like the Black Snake Tribe, even the highest-ranking chief could not touch such a super figure.

After all, their chief was only at the level of a mid-tier Beast Soldier.

It was said that in those large tribes, such cultivation levels were not worth mentioning. Crushing them like crushing ants, a Beast Marshal could easily defeat them!

Hei Mang stared at Ye Ze’s gradually retreating figure, feeling not only ungrateful for surviving the ordeal but also growing colder all over, unable to stop trembling.

Without Ye Ze’s reminder, they absolutely wouldn’t dare to speak out about today’s events. Otherwise, there would be no place for them in the tribe. Even the chief might personally imprison and execute them to appease Ye Ze’s anger!

An Nuo, this waste, when did he befriend such a powerful existence?

Hei Mang crawled out of the mud in a sorry state, wiping away the blood at the corners of his mouth. The image of Ye Ze protecting An Nuo just now appeared in his mind. For a moment, he couldn’t tell whether his resentment or jealousy towards Ye Ze was stronger.

“Take a look; is this it?” Ye Ze half-squatted and handed the shell box to the little snake sub-beast.

An Nuo’s eyes were now sparkling when looking at Ye Ze. His golden pupils, like honey, were filled with admiration. Carefully taking the shell box from Ye Ze’s hand and opening it, a refreshing fragrance emerged. It turned out that the high-quality healing medicine was even better than he had imagined!

Receiving this treasure-like item, An Nuo hugged the shell box tightly to his chest, nodding with joy, “This is it, no mistake!”

The silent depths of Ye Ze’s eyes once again revealed a light and cheerful smile.

Having endured so many injuries just for a small box, and still without regrets. Truly, he was a bit silly.

Thinking of the soft touch on the top of the little snake sub-beast’s head, Ye Ze raised his hand and gently rubbed it. At the same time, a few vines extended, picking up the scattered grass dolls on the ground.

“That’s good.” Ye Ze smiled, “Can you still walk? Let’s go back.”

“Yeah!” An Nuo’s eyes curved like a cute crescent moon as he nodded vigorously.

He felt that his current state was unprecedentedly good! He could climb ten mountains in one breath!

The little snake sub-beast got up excitedly from the ground. Instantly, he was stimulated by the small wounds all over his body, taking a sharp intake of cold air.

Seeing him wincing in pain with a small, wrinkled face in front of him, still pretending to be calm, Ye Ze slightly turned his head, revealing a rather unkind light laugh.

On the way back, the originally clear sky began to be covered with layer after layer of thick dark clouds. The entire forest took on a gloomy and cold silence, reminiscent of the endless darkness of the apocalypse.

It was the environment Ye Ze hated the most.

An Nuo closely followed behind Ye Ze, sneakily assessing Ye Ze’s expression. He wanted to remind Ye Ze that a heavy rain was coming, and they could speed up to go back; he could keep up.

However, seeing Ye Ze’s expression becoming more and more silent, An Nuo’s joyful mood of being rescued also became disheartened.

“Sorry.” The little snake sub-beast drooped his small head apologetically, “I didn’t mean to trouble Ye Ze.”

Clearly, Ye Ze was the one who needed care due to his injuries, yet he had to come to the rescue in a crisis.

Anyone would feel angry, right?

Realizing the little snake sub-beast’s self-blame for taking on all the responsibilities, Ye Ze fell silent for a moment.

Really… being bullied too much.

Ye Ze shook his head, seriously correcting, “It’s okay. I don’t mind these things. It’s not your fault, no need to apologize.”

When the Overlord of the Apocalypse raised his face and spoke with a cold tone, there was always an astonishing deterrent force.

However, the little snake sub-beast had long believed that Ye Ze was a super considerate and kind person.

All these previously terrifying serious expressions transformed into the credibility of his words.

The little snake sub-beast’s spirits indeed improved.

Just as they returned to the cave, he eagerly pulled Ye Ze to the stone bed.

Of course, with the shy and small courage of the little snake sub-beast, the term “pull” definitely wouldn’t be literal.

He only dared to invite softly, urging Ye Ze to sit on the stone bed.

Ye Ze couldn’t figure out what he was doing for a moment. Instead, he went along with the little snake sub-beast’s arrangement, sitting on the stone bed covered with soft fur. The little snake sub-beast looked at his deep black eyes, unable to look away.

The little snake sub-beast was almost intoxicated by it.

Then immediately shook his head, telling himself in his heart: Now is the time to do important things; he can’t use it to appreciate the black gem!

An Nuo successfully suppressed the urge to cover his face in shyness. He solemnly opened the shell box, revealing the milky-white ointment inside. Then, he went to a small jar nearby and found a few fresh green leaves he had put in yesterday.

“I heard this is the best healing medicine you can buy in the tribe. When applied to wounds, they heal very quickly. I’ll teach you how to do it once, and then you can do it yourself!”

An Nuo continued his detailed explanation, but Ye Ze was completely stunned in place. “…This, was bought for me?”

“Yeah.” The little snake sub-beast answered naturally, “I haven’t been seriously injured, so I don’t need it for now.”

Saying that, he lifted his head, holding the leaves with the applied ointment.

They were a pair of clean, clear eyes.

Whether in the apocalypse or suffering, their brilliance would never be obscured by any darkness.

Ye Ze silently stared at the pure and dazzling golden eyes, suddenly changing his original plan to leave.
