chapter 8-I Really Want To Go Out
I Really Want To Go Out
Episode 8
First, the “Evolution” section. As the name suggests, it means to develop myself. In gaming terms, you could say it’s leveling up.
– Leveling up…
My current level is high. While I may not be on par with the continent’s top swordmasters or great magicians, I could be considered a well-known swordsman or a somewhat famous sage in some towns.
In terms of the established ghost-level monsters on the continent… perhaps slightly above a wraith?
Not sure if you understand? In fantasy terms, think of it as a 3rd to 4th circle magician, or in martial arts terms, a top-tier martial artist.
The reason I was able to raise my level so rapidly is that I need to become stronger for other aspects to also grow stronger.
Simply put, my level needs to go from 1 to 2 for the levels of other facilities to also increase to 2. If my level remains at 2, then I cannot raise the levels of other facilities above 3.
For now, I don’t need to raise my level further.
Raising my level right now won’t bring about dramatic changes. Of course, the potential for development would increase, but when considering the energy consumed to reach that point, the cost-effectiveness is too poor.
Next is the “Mansion Modification” section. As the name suggests, this involves remodeling the mansion.
It can start from simple repairs to parts of the mansion or changing the layout of rooms to more significant changes like altering the mansion’s structure or expanding it. It allows for adjustments to the overall form and functions of the mansion.
This is possible because the mansion is partially connected to me, and at the same time, it has taken on a semi-ghostly form.
I don’t need to touch the mansion right now…
However, since the last task I performed was a mansion modification, there’s no need to select it again. So, this option is also excluded.
Next is “New Skill Development.” As the name suggests, this means developing new techniques.
However, just because it’s called a skill doesn’t mean I learn it instantly, like in a game system.
To be precise, the “technique itself” has already been developed; it’s more about applying it to my body.
For example, let’s consider the “Poltergeist” skill that I and my servants frequently use. After coming up with the idea for Poltergeist, I researched how to effectively use this technique. Once I conclude that it can be used, I modify my spirit using energy to enable the use of this technique.
The part where energy is used in this process is when modifying the spirit. In fact, from the perspective of modification, it’s similar to evolution.
Currently, the skills I can practically use are…
[Skill Research List]
Moving Picture (Research Progress: 87%, Expected Preceding Skills: Poltergeist, Possession Doll)
Wandering Seeker (Research Progress: 23%, Expected Preceding Skills: Possession Doll)
– Mimic Doll (Research Progress: 16%, Expected Preceding Skills: Illusion, “Auditory Hallucination,” Possession Doll)
Mansion Maze (Research Progress: 100%, Preceding Skills: Illusion, Dollhouse)
– Unknown Mirror (Research Progress: 100%, Preceding Skills: None)
Inducing Madness (Research Progress: 100%, Preceding Skills: Illusion, Whispering, Will-o’-the-Wisp)
There are about three skills that can be obtained immediately.
The skills I currently possess include “Poltergeist,” “Illusion,” “Auditory Hallucination,” “Possession Doll,” “Whispering,” “Will-o’-the-Wisp,” “Dollhouse,” “Deception Resistance,” “Stealthy Ghost,” and “Mansion Cleaning.”
Considering the compatibility with my existing skills…
After pondering for a moment, I set it aside for now. Let’s check the next option. It’s not because I’m getting a headache.
Lastly, there’s “Hiring New Servants.” As the name suggests, this involves hiring a new ghost as a servant for my mansion.
One might wonder, Why do I need to expend energy to hire just one ghost?
To officially hire a ghost for my mansion, I first need to wash away all the deceptions attached to their spirit.
Ghosts wandering outside inevitably carry some deceptions with them, whether in small or large amounts. Death occurs everywhere, and without the protective armor of a physical body, spirits are inevitably exposed to these deceptions.
I mentioned before that these deceptions are quite sticky, right? To wash them away, I have to pour a large amount of energy to cleanse or dilute them.
Furthermore, I need to implant the “Deception Resistance” skill that I’ve been training into the servant. If I don’t do that, even if I cleanse them, they’ll start getting dirty with deceptions again in just a few days.
Most importantly, I need to find a ghost to hire separately. Just opening this option doesn’t automatically summon a servant ghost.
In other words, to hire a ghost, I first need to scout for a capable ghost and then use this option to invest energy in formal hiring.
This is inconvenient!
Even I find this method cumbersome, but for now, there’s no safe way to hire a servant.
In that sense… there’s no ghost to hire immediately.
My gaze naturally shifted toward acquiring new skills.
“Mansion Maze, Unknown Mirror, Inducing Madness. I came up with these names, but still…”
My face felt hot, my heart raced, and my fingers twitched… Of course that’s not the case. I’m a ghost. I don’t have a face to feel hot or a heart to race.
Anyway, I felt embarrassed all of a sudden.
When I first came up with the ideas and researched the skills, I was filled with excitement and thought the names sounded impressive, but every time I check back later, I regret it.
– Ugh… Changing the names now feels a bit awkward. After all, only I know them.
The servants don’t really understand the concept of skills. I don’t tell them, and they don’t use the status window that I don’t have either.
I did implant skills in them, but they perceive it as me sharing some special supernatural abilities. I also didn’t correct them, and if you think about it, it’s somewhat similar. In any case, aside from the skill “Poltergeist,” which I specifically named, they only know it as “a power that creates flames in the air” or “a power that shrinks the mansion.”
…Thinking about it, researching the status window might also be a good idea?

‘……’
No, I mean, don’t actually put that on the research list.
After briefly staring at the research list with a cold face, I shifted my gaze to the bottom three skills.
After all, this is connected to my subconscious, so any complaints would just be spitting in my own face. Even putting it on the research list doesn’t bring any particular harm.
– Anyway, the important thing is which of these three to choose…
