- What do you think? - Elias asked, putting another chupa-chupa in his mouth.

- A simple ploy,' Rei corrected his glasses, "Almost all the fallen in Japan are already subordinate to Kokabiel, so this "announcement' of his is nothing more than a small threat.

- So we don't have to worry about them, then? - Elias asked, looking around Kuo Park.

- I didn't say that,' Rei rubbed his forehead. Azazel doesn't know who we are or where we're from. He only suspects that I'm one of those who destroyed his main institute in Japan. So with such a simple announcement, he will realise that I am not afraid of his threats since we have a patron,' Rei smiled slightly.

- The Coalition,' Elias stretched out.

- Exactly, but he won't know,' Rey put a smile on his face, 'The demons won't tell him, and his contacts have already been gagged for a while.

- So we can ignore them and continue the mission?

- For now, yes,' Rei nodded.

Elias sighed. His head hurt just thinking about these elaborate games, and it was as if Rey didn't care. He probably even enjoys it. It's a great brain workout while playing chess. But in this case, the pieces are real creatures....

- The bell rings in six minutes,' Elias looked at his expensive wristwatch, which he had put on only this morning, 'Can we make it?

- No,' Rei dismissed him, 'There's something we need to see.

- What is it? - Elias sighed, not understanding again what Rey needed to see now.

- Parallel to us is Issei, the presumed carrier of the Dragon Sacred Mechanism,' Hayato told his friend, 'If the Demons meet or draw his attention to themselves, then we are being played by naive and foolish girls....

- And if...

- And if they only observe, - did not pay attention to his friend Ray, - Then my opinion of them radically change ...

- I don't understand again,' Elias scratched his red hair.

- I need to understand what Rias is willing to do to solve her problem,' Rei explained, adjusting his glasses on the bridge of his nose.

- And how are we going to figure that out by watching him? - Elias nodded towards the trees, where somewhere behind them Ise was now walking.

- Tell me, Elias,' Rei began from a distance, 'If you were raised as the next heir to the Great House. And all this time during your training you were told that demons were superior to humans. And not just them,' Rey grinned, noticing that Elias was listening intently, 'how would you perceive humans?

- I'd be wary of Sacred Mechanism bearers,' Elias answered immediately, 'I wouldn't pay much attention to ordinary people.

- And if you add to this training the constant drumming into your brain of the Greatness of the Kin, then you get....

- Rias Gremory is a proud, pompous, a little naive, but determined, freedom-loving, supposedly independent and arrogant girl who doesn't give a damn about threats from people, because she has a Kin and a brother who can crush almost anyone,' Elias finished, putting the chupa-chupa back in his mouth.

- Exactly,' Rei smiled, "If it wasn't for this...wedding," Rei grinned, looking around discreetly, 'she could have just waited for him to wake up.

- And considering she's too proud of the Power of Destruction,' Elias began, taking the candy out of his mouth again.

- She won't train herself, she'll look for servants in her retinue to solve her problem,' Rei finished dismissively, involuntarily clenching his fists and flashing his blue eyes.

- I see,' Elias craned his neck. He, like Rei, had been up most of the night playing the console, -So we'll find out how she likes to act?

- Yeah,' Rei nodded, 'And something tells me that...

- That she knows about the Fallen's tracking of Hyodo, so she's using them,' Elias interrupted his friend.

- When did you get so smart, my friend? - Rei was genuinely surprised, but his eyes said otherwise, 'Did you get wise last night?

- I'll hit you,' Elias warned with a twitch of his eyebrow.

- Oh-oh, please, not again,' Rei took a few steps away from his friend.

- You'd better shut up and look over there,' Elias poked a chupa-chupa in the direction of the tree.

- Why are you doing this to me? I'm just kidding,' Rei said playfully, and looked at the tree Elias had pointed to, 'Uh-oh, looks like Rias has decided to get dirty.

- Just as you thought,' Elias muttered, no longer looking in the direction of Gremory's familiar.

- Indeed,' Rey snorted, "Well, we've made sure of Gremory's position," he looked again at the bat in the tree.

- Now for the lessons...

***

It was getting evening. Japan is an amazing country. Perhaps only in this country can you see such a beautiful orange sky when the sun goes down, replaced by the evening sky. Some people will say that in other countries you can also see it, but in Japan it is...unusual.....

Although Hyodo Issei was not a nature lover, he had to admit that such an orange evening was beautiful. Somewhere in the depths of his soul, he enjoys watching the sunset as it gives him an extraordinary feeling - freedom.

The wind pleasantly caresses his ruffled brown hair, the trees sway to the beat of the wind as if to someone's tune, and the birds somewhere far away in the sky, full of freedom, fly somewhere far, far, far away....

Issei doesn't know exactly why he's been having these thoughts for the last few weeks, but he hasn't dwelled on it.

Right now, Hyodo was standing on the bridge, looking out at the beautiful sunset. He leaned against the handrail of the bridge and didn't think, yet, about perversions.

- The new ero-album is waiting for you at home,' whispered a pleasant inner voice in Issei's head.

A lustful smile immediately spread lightly on his face. He already started rubbing his hands together at the mere thought of what he would be doing this evening as suddenly....

- I'm sorry,' a girl's voice sounded to the teenager's right, 'Y-You? Are you Hyodo Issei?

The Perverted Trio member turned around at the gentle voice. There stood a beautiful teenage girl. She was wearing a white blouse with a red bow and a black skirt. She was clearly wearing the uniform of some school, but Issei didn't know which one.

There was no distinctive crest or initials on her uniform. She had luxurious black hair and bright violet eyes, which she lowered to the ground and did not dare to raise.

Her face was all red with embarrassment, which Issei saw, and because of this he too blushed involuntarily.

- Y-yes, I am,' Issei replied, scratching the top of his head, 'And you-you?

- Yuma. Amano Yuma,' the cute girl answered immediately, 'I have a question....

- What is it? - Hyodo asked.

The girl didn't answer anything, but only became even more embarrassed. She rubbed the strap of her briefcase with her fingers, which she held in front of her, and kept looking away, trying not to bump into Issei's shoes.

- Y-you,' Yuma began hesitantly, 'Will you go out with me? - she blurted out, becoming a cherry tomato and closing her eyes, waiting for an answer.

Issei, on the other hand, was shocked. He was. Called. To. A date?! A girl at school is afraid to approach him, let alone talk to him, and now such a pretty girl is asking him out on a date!

Hyodo pushed aside his second inner voice - calculation - and immediately replied:

- Of course,' Hyodo smiled brightly.

- P-really! - Yuma smiled sincerely, opening her beautiful eyes, 'Well, I'll be off then! I'll meet you at Shibuya Shopping Centre!

- Y-yes,' replied the equally happy guy, 'Wait, when?

- Oh, - turned to the guy the girl who was already running in the direction of the house from happiness, - Tomorrow after school. В 15:30.

- L-okay, - and before Issei could say goodbye, she was gone.

And neither of them paid any attention to a curious little bat that was sitting in a tree watching the conversation.

***

Night had already fallen on the town of Kuo. The stars began to appear one by one in the evening sky, but that didn't interest the two boys, who were sitting on one of the hills, hidden behind some bushes.

Elias was looking through the scope of his ACBK sniper rifle, which had been specially made for him in the Russian Empire by Coalition mages. His father had been involved in the creation of this rifle, as well as he...

But that wasn't what Elias was thinking about right now. He was looking through the fifteenx scope mounted on the rifle and watching the actions of the Churchmen. Elias directed the crosshairs from one head to the other...

Any target of yours is an enemy.

Even if you are watching him, he is your enemy....

At any moment, you must be ready to kill him...

Either in the head.

Or in the transition between the spinal cord and the bone marrow...

Kill.

Kill.

- Elias?

Monoke continued to watch the churchmen. How they talked amongst themselves, how they laughed at another comrade's stupid joke, how they even confessed their love, how...

Elias' face gradually crossed with a bloodthirsty grin. Bright emerald eyes glittered in the darkness of the night, and even in the scope, a bright green light could be seen...

- Hey, Elias!

It was impossible to accurately describe Elias' state of mind, but his fingers that he kept on the trigger were trembling slightly with impatience. Monoke had already seen another churchman who hid in the shade of the trees and started smoking! A churchman! Smoking!!!

Elias was already starting to pull the trigger to kill yet another lowlife who didn't care about the faith he swore an oath to as....

- Elias!

Monoke flinched. His shoulder was squeezed hard and his fingers still wouldn't let go. Elias looked up and saw his faithful friend Rey looking at Elias with a concerned expression.

- Are you okay? - Rey asked, dressed in black robes that clung tightly to his body. Half of his face was crossed by the collar of the badlon, which was now a mask.

- Yes. I have... - Elias remembered the thoughts he'd been having during the stakeout, 'Seems like I'm having seizures again.

- Didn't you meditate last night? - You know what your grandfather will do to me when he finds out about this. And you...you'll go crazy soon.....

- I'm sorry,' Elias lowered his head, still gripping his rifle, 'This has to stop soon...

- If you meditate like your grandfather said,' Rei snapped at him, 'Oh, Lord, why did I have to do this? One time I didn't follow up, you were immediately doing...the wrong thing.

- I get it! Calm down, it won't happen again,' Elias said angrily, putting his eye back on the scope.

- It won't - it's happened six times already, in His Name! - Rey said, and then moved back to one of the trees to continue his observations.

Usually during such patrols they chatted either about the mission, or about their own dreams, or just about nothing. But now...

No one spoke a word....

Their absolute silence was interrupted by a huge amount of Saint energy that rushed into their clearing. A deafening explosion echoed throughout the small hill they were on.

Elias was a terrible sensor, which was why he hadn't noticed such a primitive and overt attack, thinking that the connections among the other fallen in the town would provide them with protection.

Rei, on the other hand, had not sensed the other's energy. He had already landed on one of the ledges of the hill and began to peer into the thick smoke. Hayato could see the grey Auras of the attackers surrounding them on all sides.

Of course, every creature also has its own body structures - veins. These veins can only be seen by Rod Astaroth and other magical artefacts like Rey's glasses.

His glasses were the fine and marvellous work of the Coalition Institute, and there were probably none like them anywhere else. He counted about thirty attackers. And the grey Aura and the same colour structures of only one kind of creature...

The Fallen.

- You've done a good job, Gremory,' Rei gazed into the crowd of opponents, 'Have you stopped underestimating us, or have you decided to finish us off once and for all?

But his musings were interrupted by other black and grey structures that belonged only to...

- Elias! - Rei exclaimed, ignoring cold calculation and the inner voice of reason. Right now, all his thoughts were on how to save his friend....

Two light spears were already flying towards Elias, who was spitting out his own blood, when Rei stood in front of him and the spears immediately stopped in front of Hayato's face. He only looked in the direction of the attackers, who were beginning to slowly surround the team, and sent the spears back at double speed at the enemy.

Elias couldn't get up. The left side of his body was paralysed, and black bruises were spreading all over him.

- Light saber,' Elias guessed, trying to take at least a pistol from its holster and shoot back, but he couldn't....

Rei had created a simple transparent barrier that kept the Light gas from passing in their direction. A light saber is a veil that atomises into atoms that are infused with the Power of Light, making it able to take a large area when attacking.

- Surrender, kid, you're surrounded,' came a menacing voice from above. Rei looked up and saw a fallen man with eight wings behind him. He wasn't wearing some distinctive uniform or any other initials. No, a simple black hoodie, the kind of thing that the soldiers of the Cadre Supreme usually wore....

- No, it's not my type to surrender to the mercy of some fallen men,' Rei grinned, slowly creating an area to change the vectors of the natural plants so that they would become his weapons in this battle....

- I'll have to take your head by force then,' the fallen sighed and created about ten arrows of Light around him, which he immediately sent at his enemy.

Purple energy erupted from Rey, gradually forming a dome around him, into which some of the attackers had already fallen. The sharp blades of grass immediately stabbed into the bodies of the fallen men, who fell to the ground from the painful shock.

At the same time, several trees in Rey's dome burst out of the ground with roots and launched themselves at the strongest-speaking Fallen, who immediately dodged the senseless attack. But it seemed pointless only to the Fallen One....

Rei grinned happily.

The wood began to flatten rapidly, and wooden spears filled with Rei's energy gradually formed, which he immediately sent at the Fallen One. The fallen man, on the other hand, formed a sword of Light and wanted to take the spears for a block, but...

The Sword of Light immediately flew out of the fallen man's hands and flew towards Hayato, who immediately grabbed it. No sooner had the fallen man recovered from the shock and covered himself with at least his own wings than he was attacked by the very branches Rei had created.

The branches pierced important points in the fallen man's body and he fell backwards, choking on his own blood. He barely turned his head towards his warriors and was horrified....

He was a military man. Always. He had never let go of battle, and now, after all these years, he had been called back into service by the Supreme, who had given him the task of dealing with a boy who had turned up in a town in Japan, the land of men.

Harnos, one of the close warriors of the Supreme, who had always fought on the front lines with his Lord, was no longer the Fallen One he used to be....

He clearly didn't expect this kind of Power from a teenager, that's why he brought only a small handful of Fallen, not even planning any strategy for the battle. The plan was simple: to bluntly overwhelm the boys with power, but something went wrong. Before the Fallen could react, they were attacked by a black-haired boy.

The faces of his warriors were contorted with pain, impotent rage and animal fear. Some had an earthen spear sticking straight out of their chests, some had a small green dart that used to be a small leaf rather than a deadly weapon gouged out their eye. Their opponent, Rei Hayato, mostly used small objects and turned them into deadly weapons, making it almost impossible for the fallen to see what was attacking them and from where.

This was what it was like to fight a Master of Telepathy....

Harnos didn't care for such a high-profile nickname for a human. How old is he? Sixteen? Seventeen? Harnos couldn't remember, but the lad was less than eighteen, a mere child in this magical and scary world, but...

Pride had played a cruel trick on him. No opponent should be underestimated - the Supreme had told him that many times, and Harnos had told himself as well. But the Fallen One had lost his touch in so many years ...

He went on a bender. And drank, and drank, and drank again, to forget--

To forget the day one Demon killed an entire legion of Supreme with a single word...

- I'll leave you a small parting gift,' grinned the boy, who had also been injured in the battle, though he was quite strong. He can't attack and defend powerfully at the same time. One or the other...

Otherwise, his head would explode. Literally and figuratively....

Almost all over Rey's body were various wounds that were visible even from under his suit, but most of them, Harnos was sure, were inflicted by the owner of the body himself. Fallen had met Masters of Telepathy before in the War. The mental application of such an amazing Gift affects not only the Core of the wearer, but also the physical body.

Harnos had already removed the spears from his body and the Light was beginning to regenerate his wounds, but it was so slow that Fallen used the healing magic he was capable of. But even that wasn't completely healing his wounds.

What was the boy's energy?

Harnos felt the ground shake and looked towards the top of the hill they were battling on. His eyes opened wide in horror and his hands trembled involuntarily, not for himself, but for the warriors who were now almost mortally wounded.

From the top of the hill a huge avalanche of various piles of debris and trees was descending on them. Just how much energy did he need for this attack?

Monster...

- I hope not to see you again, used Gremory material,' Rey grinned with an incomprehensible intonation and disappeared with his friend into the teleportation circle.

Harnos didn't have time to track the traces of magic, because the first thing he had to think about was how they could survive now....

And to break the important news to the Supreme...

***

Rei, breathing heavily, leaned his back against the wall of the house where the small group lived. Rei himself, Tekera, and Elias, who was in a half-dead state.

How much time had passed, Hayato didn't know. He was already in a semi-delirious state and was seeing various visions that didn't belong to this world. Rei was opening his eyes and closing them....

- Find a mate, bro. One friend will suffice, but one you can rely on. And protect him the way you want him to protect you. Then he won't leave you, and you won't leave him.

- Well, brother, you don't know how to make friends. I'll teach you!

- I'm sorry, little brother, but I don't think I can be your friend. your friend. I'm sorry to leave you...

Rei opened his eyes abruptly and almost jumped out of bed as a sharp flash of pain travelled through his body. Hayato clutched at his chest, and with every breath he took, it became harder and more painful to breathe.

- Calm your breathing and lie still,' Rei heard the girl's voice. Hayato immediately realised who it belonged to - Tekere. 'You used too much mana, he told you that your body wasn't ready to fully accept that power. Why did you take that risk?

Rei couldn't remember why he'd done it. Where had his cold judgement and calculation gone? Where was it all at exactly the right moment when they were on the brink of death. Hayato unconsciously remembered and compared past events to present ones, and....

Something seemed to hit Rei's head, causing him to rush to cover the friend he had only recently quarrelled with. They'd already had this kind of fight often and made up all the time, so Rei didn't see the point in continuing the conversation while on patrol, but...

- I just realised it was the right thing to do,' Rei said, either lying or telling half-truths. He didn't know it yet,' When did you get back? - He tried to change the subject.

- A few hours ago,' Tekera decided to distract herself, even though she didn't take Rei's answer seriously. She had known him for years, but she still didn't understand what he had in mind. 'I couldn't get to you right away, because the demon's barriers were too good. And then you teleported yourself...

Only now Rei noticed that Elias was lying on the bed next to him, on his right, with a grimace of pain on his face. And Tekera was standing over him, leaning her palm against Monoke's lean chest, pouring a healthy ki into him.

- Is he alright? - Rei was holding back all he could to keep himself from jumping out of bed and doing something to help his friend.

- 'Yes,' Rei turned a corner of her eye to look at Rei Taker's condition, 'If they had returned a few minutes later, he was probably already dead.'

Hayato clenched his fists. His friend could have died because of their simple altercation, which he had started, in his opinion. And if they hadn't been distracted, they probably would have noticed such a primitive attack.

Tekera, on the other hand, turned her attention back to Rei's appearance and smiled with the edge of her lips. Still, though Rei could be bold, brash, horrible, and extremely dangerous, friendship was not an empty thing to him. Even though people like Rei have a unique mindset, thinking completely differently than the rest of us, Rei can be quite predictable at times. Like right now, for example.

- I only stopped the infection process,' Taker distracted Elias from his thoughts, 'I'm not a pro at life ki and I'm not good at it. It's either my brother.

- He's on a mission in Indonesia,' Rei interrupted her unknowingly.

- I know,' Takeru grimaced, she didn't like to be interrupted so abruptly. She really doesn't like being interrupted,' she said, 'Either you need...

- Kuroka,' Rei interrupted Tekera again, causing her to sigh loudly and angrily, but Hayato didn't notice, 'She's not far away. Very close...

Tekera didn't realise what Rei was talking about at first, but then it came to her pretty little head.

- So she's...

- Yes,' Rei interrupted her again, but this time on purpose, 'She's already there. Making sure the Demons don't get too cocky...

***

Same time. Kuo Park.

- Are you sure you should be doing this? The Coalition people might not like it,' Sone told her friend as she created the ritual.

- 'I don't care,' Rias waved her off, 'I'm willing to do anything to...to not marry...that creep,' Gremory hissed, forming a magical circle of House Gremory over the near-dead girl.

Sona didn't answer anything. She partly understood her friend's desire to get rid of her marriage as soon as possible, to sip, as Rias herself put it, at least a little bit of freedom. In Sitri's opinion, Rias's parents had spoilt her daughter too much, and she was always asserting her rights and claims to be great and powerful. And yet she has plenty of freedoms, and she doesn't have enough....

Of course, at the moment, Rias's actions can be justified by the fact that at stake is her wedding to the unloved Demon, which her parents gave her, but still. Though Sona absolutely doesn't care about humans and other pathetic and weak creatures, but she wouldn't take such drastic measures as her friend.

Sona has been pouring demonic energy into the Gremory Circle, with a half-dead girl who possesses the Sacred Mechanism lying in the centre of it. Her friend, Katase, was the supposed carrier of the Sacred Mechanism. That's right, she was.

Because now her Sacred Mechanism is hidden in the spatial safe of her student council room. She doesn't know the properties or features of that Sacred Mechanism, but she will definitely study it later. Sona didn't pay attention to the screams of the girl whose Sacred Mechanism Rias would get. That was the first thing they had agreed upon. Two, this girl's Sacred Mechanism was exactly the same as Kiba's, so she would just hand it over to her Figure.

Rias was telling her friend that when Kiba was studied in Gremory's lab, fully examining his body, they found out that Kiba's Sacred Mechanism was only a Shard of the full one. That's easy enough to figure out if there's advanced technology like Gremory's. Oh, and there's probably one of those in almost every House of the Underworld.

Murayama Nakaro is a pretty girl with brown hair, one of the members of the kendo club, lying mortally wounded and staring blankly at the sky. Her friend has been killed, and she herself is on death's doorstep that she no longer cares.

She's probably disappointed that her 'sempai' - Rias - turned out not to be a sempai at all, but an evil Demon. And Kiba, whom she was the very first to start begging for help, didn't respond, as all the other Figures Rias stood with a blank stare. And that made it hurt even more....

- That's it,' Rias informed her friend, bringing Sona out of her thoughts. A small, orange-sized, grey ball appeared in Gremory's hand, 'Let's go before they come.

- I don't think they're coming,' Sona said, but like Rias prepared a teleportation circle, 'I'm not sure they're alive at all.

- That's fine if they are,' Rias said, looking at the ball in her hand, 'My brother said everything was ready for a simple demonstration of the power of the Coalition Inferno. I think your sister told you already.

- Yes,' Sona adjusted her glasses. Everything was going fine, just as they'd planned, but something was eating away at Sitri's insides.

- Yeah,' Rias nodded and all her Figures disappeared in red.

Sona covered the dead girl with a weak illusion to keep her out of sight. There was no time to clean up the corpse now, so her Figures would pick her up in the morning. Could she drag the corpse herself? Sure, but she wouldn't touch a dead and rotten person unnecessarily.

With these thoughts, Sona left the clearing.

And Murayama was still alive. When the Sacred Mechanism is ripped out of a person, it can be said that a part of the human soul itself is ripped out, so that the person cannot continue to live. But even though Murayama didn't know this, she was still holding on with her willpower.

There was no need to listen to Katase, and just go straight home after training, and not have an extra sparring session. Yeah they'd arranged it so much that they'd then get chatty and leave school late at night. And she can't die here! She has to tell the others. That demons are real, that none of this is a fairy tale. Magic, wizards, it's all real! What's a sick mum gonna do without her? If she finds out that her daughter was killed somewhere in the park, then.....

Murayama doesn't even want to think about it. But she didn't give in to her tears and felt a strange sensation. Though she had never wielded magic or practised using it, but Nakaro felt with her whole body that there was an intruder here.

Her eyes were half-closed, so she could only just make out the silhouette of this stranger. Without even seeing him or her face, goosebumps ran through her body on their own. There was a similar energy coming from him as Rias and Sona, but Nakaro didn't know for sure if she was mistaken or if it was all nonsense.

- Interesting, though disappointing, nya. Lucifer's sister couldn't even do the ritual properly. And she couldn't pull out the Sacred Mechanism completely, nya - a childish, even somewhat childish voice was heard by Murayama. And that voice was a woman's.

Lucifer's sister? Was this stranger about Rias? Or is it about Sona? If she's saying that the one who performed the ritual is Lucifer's sister, then it must be Rias. She went to the same school as the Hell Lord's sister?! This news is so discouraging to Murayama that she completely forgets the rest of the conversation.

- You've been through too much this day, girl, nya,' the girl said, 'You're a girl yourself, you sound like you just got out of kindergarten! - Sleep...

And Murayama immediately closed her eyes....
