Chapter 215: The Last Two
What started as a celebration for their achievements, soon turned into a bragging session where they mocked the Destroyer Faction, and even the seniors of the Creator Faction.
"If only we could kill Elias Ashborn as well, we would have finished them all. Who would have thought that the coward would stay hidden until the end."
"It's fine. He can hide here, but what about the Academy? Sooner or later, he would come across us! Then we will teach him a lesson!"
"Tch, if that coward came before me, I would just grab his throat and crush it!" A drunk ranker raised the glass of wine, and reached out his left hand in the air, making the gesture of grabbing someone's throat.
To his surprise, his hand did manage to grab something, which felt like someone's throat.
"Hmm?" His vision was a little blurry, but he still felt as if he was seeing the silhouette of Elias Ashborn before him. "I think I am a little too drunk. I am seeing that bastard's face before me."
"Hahaha, it looks like I'm just as drunk as you. I am also seeing the face of that bastard." The child who was currently ranked third, rubbed his eyes. "I think I should sleep. This drink is very heavy."
"You..." The only person who looked sober was Olsen, who had drunk the bare minimum.
He kept offering drinks to the other two rankers to prevent them from trying to find Elias in the future. But even he was left shaken when he saw Elias in the tent with them.
Elias didn't even target the two drunk children who were thinking that they were living in a dream-like illusion because they were too drunk. Instead, his main target was Olsen, who was momentarily overwhelmed by shock.
Olsen chanted the name of his contracted beast to summon it, but something went horribly wrong. The moment his beast was summoned, Olsen was already dead. In this test, his class abilities were already sealed.
Be could only rely on his physique, and his summoned beast. But his physique was only mediocre, with his class being related more to the domain of pure magic.
Even when he saw Elias aim at him and thought about dodging, his body was too slow. And just like that, the second ranker from the first year creator faction had also died.
That left only two rankers that weren't even in their right state of mind at the moment. Their minds were dizzy, and their bodies didn't even stay still. They weren't in a state to fight back, or even register what was happening to them.
It still didn't make Elias have mercy on them. Blood splashed on the inner walls of the tent, and two more bodies fell down.
Elias moved the curtain aside, and stepped out of the tent. He raised his head, and looked at the two scrolls in the sky.
The left Scroll had the name of Elias Ashborn, while the right scroll had the name of Kaelen.
In the entire earth, only two participants were left alive, one from each Faction. At least that was according to the scrolls. In this entire place, only Elias knew the reality.
Although Kaelen was actually alive in his Shadow Domain, it didn't count as him surviving this test. The one who truly survived this test, was his second persona, which was going to hold the position representing the Academy in the future.
Helen had thought about intervening in the test multiple times, especially since Elias started slaughtering all the surviving rankers of the Creator Faction.
She was always stopped by Elten, who reminded her that they hadn't intervened when the students of Destroyer Faction were getting slaughtered by Kaelen.
"You can't be biased towards your students. The window of interference has long passed. It's time to enjoy the spectacle," Elten said.
"If something happens to the Inheritor of the Flames, none of us would be able to take responsibility. We should stop them!"
Initially, she didn't think that Elias would be able to annihilate everyone with such ease. But the weapons in his hand were truly strange, even for someone like her.
At this point, she didn't think that it was beneficial for either side for this test to continue.
"Both of them are the pillars of our Academy. It would be a great loss if either of them died, especially Kaelen! We need to intervene!"
"Were the other students not the pillars of the Academy? Don't forget that many of them were also the descendants of the Founding Families. If you intervene now to save someone, will we be able to answer them about why we didn't intervene?"
"This..." Helen froze in place. It was also true. Initially, they could just say that they weren't allowed to intervene in the test because of rules, so things deteriorated. It wasn't their fault.
If they intervened now, it would tell the founding families that the rules were insignificant in the first place, and could be broken at any time. It was just that they didn't break them when it was their children, but broke them for Kaelen.
It was going to attract too much hostility for the Academy, as it would cut all bridges of consolation.
The only way to avoid that situation was to not intervene until there was only one survivor left in the test. Either that, or the time for the test officially ended.
"There are still thirty minutes before the test ends. At this rate, they might actually die before the end."
Helen rubbed her forehead harshly, looking down in frustration. She wanted to rush down, but she couldn't even do that because of Elten.
'It doesn't matter. If Kaelen's life is really in danger, and he's on the verge of death, I would rush down! To hell with the rules! I can't let the Inheritor die! But if he isn't in danger, and Elias is the one to die, I can just sit back and relax.'
After making a plan in her mind, she stabilized her thoughts and watched Elias approach Kaelen's tent.
