Chapter 181: Dumbledore's Move (2)
November 1994
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
Harry after announcing the Hogwarts' suspension again busied himself in reading the newspaper.
Albus Dumbledor during the entire time was quite emotional. He spoke with a heavy heart.
"Harry... he is like my own blood... my family to me. It was incomprehensible and ridiculous that someday that boy would blame me for harming him. Lily and James were like my own children. I could not even think of harming their child…"
"I admit, what I am about to tell and reveal to the world would sound selfish and I do not deny any such accusation."
"But now since, it has come to this, I must speak the truth... for I cannot put my own selfish relations and interest before the interest of the whole Wizarding Britain."
With this statement, Dumbledore went on to repeat the entire story which he had formulated in the meeting. He told everyone of Voldemort's deeds; his act of creating horcrux. He told them how a piece of Voldemort's soul had leeched itself on Harry's forehead after the killing curse had stuck Harry forming the infamous scar and how all evidences and common sense pointed to the fact that, this particular piece of soul had now taken control over Harry.
With his 'wise' choose of words, Dumbledore had conveyed a lot of emotions even through the newspaper.
Albus Dumbledore's words have left every one of us present in the hall in a state of shock. Fear, anxiety, uncertainty has gripped us over.
Even then some of our brave reporters gathered their courage to ask some questions... questions which should have definitely been asked.
Question 1: Mr. Dumbledore, now that you have told the problem and you sure had a part to play in all what have transpired because of your decision to keep everything as a secret, what are the solutions you bring at the table?
Albus Dumbledore: I agree about my responsibility part. And I assure you that, I am working on a plan for solution. You can understand, that I cannot divulge more information about this.
Question 2: It makes sense that you do not wish to reveal more than necessary to the general public. I would like you to address the issue here. Would it not had been better if you would have kept all of it a secret? Now, that you revealed that you know all of it, would it not caution Harry Potter or whoever is in that body? Maybe, doing what you intend to do in secret would had a better chance at success?
Albus Dumbledore: Yes, I believe that what you say makes sense. But I believe that informing the general public about the truth and warn them and caution them of situation of the situation was more necessary.
I would also like to make an appeal to everyone of you. While I cannot go into specifics, I hope that when the time comes, all of you will lend a support to me.
Question 3: Mr. Dumbledore, we have seen and know that Harry Potter is not alone in his endeavours. Prominent figures like Minerva McGonagall, Amelia Bones, Narcissa Black and many more people have been in his support from the beginning? Are they in cohorts with the dark lord?
Albus Dumbledore: I believe, they are totally unaware of all this. They should not have any idea about Harry's reality. Now, that they are aware of the reality, I would request them to rechoose the sides. If not at least please think very carefully about your decisions.
Question 4: Is the ministry of magic aware of all these things? Are you going to collaborate with the ministry and their aurors in dealing with this problem?
Albus Dumbledore: Well, the ministry should be aware of now. A representative from our side had departed for the ministry and I believe at this moment he would be discussing the issue with our esteemed minister.
Question 5: Mr. Lupin, are you aware of the whereabouts of Sirius Black. Now that ministry has withdrawn the order for dementors' kiss against him, will he make an appearance soon? What are Mr. Black thoughts regarding all this matter? After all, it was only Harry Potter who produced the evidence of an alive Peter Pettigrew to prove his innocence? Or was it a ploy from Harry Potter to mark his most loyal servant- Sirius Black innocent of any charges? Were both Peter Pettigrew and Sirius Black dark lord's servant and now that Pettigrew has lived his usefulness, he had been thrown away to prove Sirius innocent?
Remus Lupin: I assume Sirius will make an appearance soon. He is innocent and it was Peter who had betrayed James and Lily.
The reporters had not been so willing to believe Remus' words about Sirius innocence. They dragged this issue for few more questions and Remus did not have much explanation to offer. If Harry was the dark lord, Sirius' innocence could not be taken for granted.
Question 'n': Mr. Dumbledore, do you believe if it comes to that, you have the capability to defeat this new… Harry Potter?
Albus Dumbledore: Only time will tell…
(Dumbledore answered this with a smiling face…)
Following this many more things had been covered in the newspaper. Every action of Harry in the last few months had been dug out and discussed in detail.
"What do we do now?" Narcissa asked. "That old coot…"
A frown had formed on Harry's face. For the first time in months, Dumbledore had outclassed Harry.
