Chapter 11: Who Is This Warrior?
Darius lay down on the ground, he was tired from facing such a powerful beast and it was not something he would do, not even in his dreams.
"Finally, that damn lion is down and it can't do anything to hurt me anymore!" Darius was filled with joy, he was looking at the lion in front of him and he could see that there was nothing much of the skull from him bashing it into the floor that hard.
'When did my kick do that?' Darius was confused he was looking at the Nubian Lion and he didn't believe that it was the same creature that was trying to kill him moments ago.
"Alert, you can now absorb the core of the creature in front of the Nubian Lion." Azree gave him the notification, Darius knew that there was going to be something like that and he was not going to get used to the fact there was a way for him to take the core of any creature he defeated and absorb it making him get to higher levels with little to no problem.
Darius looked at the core, he picked it up and placed it in his hands where he was going to be absorbing the power within it.
"Okay, here goes nothing," Darius said before beginning to absorb the power within his core. He was not even sure that there was a way for him to explain what he was feeling, but then it was like a blissful feeling within his bones that made it a bit hard for him to concentrate normally.
'This is different from the Alpha's core, I wonder why?' Darius was looking at the core as he tried to make sure that nothing was going wrong.
"You are absorbing the core of an S-ranked monster, and it is giving you the powers of an S-rank monster, so you should be a bit careful," Azree explained. Darius was shocked when he noticed something a bit different about cores and the way he was taking the powers within them.
"So this is going to be adding more powers to the one I already have? Wait does that mean I am going to continue growing until I reach a particular level?" Darius was curious, he was waiting for Azree to give him a response but then Azree didn't say anything to him.
"I can not give you the designated answer for what you are asking me now, I will only tell you that the powers you will be getting from this will be a bit different from what you got when you took the core of the Izan Alpha." Azree gave Darius an answer that wasn't even close to anything he would have expected.
Darius was a bit surprised but then he didn't say anything to object or say no, he was still absorbing the powers within the core. He felt the energy coursing through his veins and he was getting something out of all of it.
'I wonder why Azree didn't answer the question, but still, I can feel this power growing within me like there is something more going to be coming.' Darius couldn't deny that there was something a bit different about the power he was feeling.
"Absorption complete, power upgrade about to commence." Azree gave Darius the report of the core absorption, Darius looked at the core and he could feel that there was still some juice left in it.
He looked around to see that he had not packed up the cores of the wolves he took down and he was not going to let them remain there and go to waste.
'I might get a lot of money if I am going to be selling all this, I might be able to clear the fee for Lena's treatment.' Darius began packing up the cores, he was not going to be wasting time with anything he was going to be doing in the dungeon.
Darius managed to pack up, seventeen Izan wolf cores plus the alpha's core he was going to be selling to the Burea, they would normally use the core for experiments that would be used for other things like making weapons.
Darius packed up every core he could find and began going up to the surface, he was not going to be wasting time to save his sister and he was going to be doing anything in his power to see to it that there was no slip-up.
Darius began to walk out of the dungeon, he was surprised that there was no sign of any warrior who would have walked in when he was busy with the Alpha or Lion, it was a bit alarming but he was not going to say anything about it knowing that there was a chance he would be seen as a low ranked warrior.
When Darius got to the City Square, he could see people looking at a huge screen like something was going on there.
"Look there, the Ironclan is taking down the S-ranked Balik Bull, can you see the Raid captain Ethan Wells and what he is doing to the monster!"
"That's what you expect from the second-strongest squad in the city! They can take down the bull with little to no trouble!"
"Watch them go!"
The people were cheering as they watched the Ironclan, the second-strongest raid squad in the city take down an S-ranked monster that was terrorizing the city's northern part.
Darius didn't want to pay attention to what was happening there, and he didn't like the spotlight, but he was going to hide it for too long, even though he knew that with his growing powers, it would be a problem to stay hidden.
'I only want to make enough money to care for Lena and make sure that nothing is going to make her get hurt anymore. Get enough to eat, maybe have a buffet' Darius thought to himself, that he was not going to use his powers to gather fame even though he knew that a time would come when he would be brought into the spotlight he wanted to make sure that he would be able to live a normal life before any of that would begin happening.
Darius walked to the Armoury shop, it was a worked-up shop where Warriors of all ranks would go and sell the cores they had gotten from a dungeon.
It was the market for Warriors, and Darius was going there for the first time alone, it was something that squads would do together to make sure that no one would get hurt.
The moment he walked in, he could feel people's uncanny gaze over his shoulder as he walked to the register. It was like he was an alien who wanted to do business there.
"Hello, how can I help you?" The man over the counter asked looking at Darius, he was looking at him with a hint of doubt in his eyes.
"I have a few cores here I want to sell. Please can you run the test on them to tell me how much all of them are worth?" Darius looked at him. The man was still looking at Darius, not sure what the boy was saying.
'I wonder what this boy is trying to do here, he doesn't have a hint of mana showing on him I wonder how he is even holding that many cores?!' The man was looking at Darius not even trying to see what it was he would be able to understand from the boy. 'But in all my years I have seen weird people come in here, I wouldn't want to judge him too early. Afterall it's business.'
He took the cores from him and began running the evaluation tests on them, it was necessary to see how much the cores were worth.
'It would probably be D ranked Cores with no serious value and he is just trying to make a living trying to sell them.' The man began running the test on the first Izan wolf core.
The man's eyes widened when he saw that it was not just a normal core but a B-ranked core, but the man who had the core had not even one single ounce of mana coming out of his body.
The man looked into the bag and he could see fifteen of the same type of cores inside there.
"How is this possible?! What is your rank?" The man wanted to know, B ranked monsters were powerful but then they were not to be trifled with.
"Is it that important?" Darius asked when he was looking at the man, he thought he would be able to sell the cores and get along with his day but then this man was here asking him for his rank.
"No no, I just want to know because I know almost all the A ranked Warrior in the city but then only A ranks can pull something like this off." The man was looking at Darius with a smile on his face.
Darius had a deadpan look on his face, he was not going to be wasting his time. "I was ranked F in my evaluation exam and I am not sure if there has been any change."
'Did he just say he was ranked F?! That is not in any way possible, is it? He is carrying things that only A ranks should be able to carry. What is he? Some kind of thief?!' The man was still looking at Darius and not trying to understand what he was trying to see there.
"Okay, everything you see in your bag is roughly around ten thousand dollars." The man looked at Darius, not sure what he would say next, but then he was trying to find out what he was trying to hide.
"Oh, I have two more in the bag here. Care to check their value for me, too?" Darius almost forgot about the two boss cores he had with him.
He brought them out and placed them on the desk, the man was looking at it.
The man was looking at the cores, he was looking at it like there was something uncanny about it.
He ran the first test on the Alpha's core, looking at it like he had seen something more diabolic than the ten cores he had seen earlier. But then it was an A-ranked core, not just any kind of A-ranked core. It was the Alpha Izan wolf core, it was a rare beast that only S ranks would be able to take down if they were told on time.
'I know that there is something about this man that is not normal, how on earth is with an A-ranked core?' The man was looking at the whole bag and was sure that the next core would be a bit different from the others.
The man took out the Nubian Lion core, he was prepared to see another A-ranked core but then when he looked at it, he was shocked that he was looking at an S-ranked core in front of him.
"Sir, these two cores will be fifty thousand dollars," The man was looking at Darius his hands shaking.
'Who is this warrior?' The man asked shaking.
