Kyōichi, Konoha’s Life Mentor

Chapter 38: Wandering Warrior, First Battle

Northwestern part of the Land of Fire.

This area is close to the Land of Rivers, Land of Rain, and Mount Kikyō, belonging to a very chaotic region.

However, it is also an important trade route leading to several northwestern countries.

Because of this, this place is very prosperous.

"Is this Shirakumo Town?"

Asuma looked around, observing the unfamiliar town.

"Yes, I was here a few months ago when a team of Suna ninjas attacked. We drove them back," Kyōichi nodded.

After the war ended, this area began to gradually recover, and many trade routes started to rebuild.

However.

Due to its proximity to the Land of Rain and Land of Rivers, bandits and wandering ninjas frequently appeared here.

Previously, with the presence of Konoha ninja armies as deterrence, there was no need to worry.

But now that the army has withdrawn and there are no ninja stationed in the surrounding area, with only a few patrolling the borders, these bandits have started causing trouble again, forcing the town mayor to issue missions.

Kyōichi leaned against the wall, secretly using chakra sensing.

"Found them!"

In the direction of the Land of Rivers, there was indeed a group of bandits composed of wandering samurai.

These wandering samurai were very bold, still lingering in the area after several robberies.

From the looks of it, they seemed to still be looting.

"Sensei, what should we do now?"

Kurenai looked around.

Many people were repairing the streets around them.

The damaged roads were slowly being fixed, and after a month, most places had actually been repaired.

She sensed around but found no immediate enemies nearby, leaving her unsure what to do next.

"Don't rush, look around and scout the terrain first," Kyōichi said.

If it was just his mission alone, he would go straight there and cut them down like vegetables, but with a squad...

He looked at the three children.

After thinking for a moment, Kyōichi said: "For C-rank missions and above, combat is possible. You must always be ready to fight and kill. Also, if you were in command, what would you do?"

"First check the terrain, set up traps, and prepare for defense," Asuma answered without hesitation.

This was from the textbook.

Nothing wrong with that, but...

"Where would you set the traps?"

"This?" Asuma hesitated, unable to think of an answer immediately.

This was due to lack of experience.

Shisui thought for a moment and said: "The west side. The Land of Rivers has no ninja village, so there are many wandering samurai and ninja who often form into bandits. Patrols usually focus on this direction."

"Not bad, your police force teaches a lot beforehand."

Kyōichi sighed.

The Uchiha may be arrogant, but they certainly had strength.

Unfortunately, there were too many hawks within the clan, especially after the Nine-Tails incident, even Fugaku had difficulty controlling them.

He looked at the three and said: "Go to the west to scout and set traps. If you encounter enemies, you can judge whether to engage or not. Remember what I taught you, and you should be fine with most situations."

"Yes!" The three accepted their orders and left.

Kyōichi secretly followed while sending a shadow clone towards the areas where people were building walls and streets.

Restoring Shirakumo Town would require more than just driving away bandits.

Being a ninja wasn't such an easy job.

While Shisui and the others were slowly patrolling and scouting, Kyōichi took out a book to read.

A book on cell theory.

He borrowed this from the Third, and with the system reward of "Basic Medical Knowledge," this book wasn't too difficult to digest.

Recently, he had some insights about the Seven Heavens Technique - skin actually has some breathing ability, though the amount of oxygen absorbed is extremely small, insufficient for his needs.

But what if cellular vitality was enhanced?

After increasing vitality, could skin breathing improve absorption efficiency and whole-body vitalization strength?

Experiments proved it was feasible.

The higher the level of Seven Heavens Breathing method, the stronger the skin breathing effect.

Although it hadn't reached the Fourth level yet, he felt that the direction was correct.

Additionally, exploring the lower limits, first activating skin vitality, then gradually activating blood and muscle.

Thus, a basic version of the Seven Heavens Technique might be achieved!

That was the theory.

However.

Implementation wasn't so simple, there were issues with incomplete vitalization, so Kyōichi had been studying and pondering lately.

Of course.

Deep research into cells would be useful for Hashirama cells, taijutsu, medical ninjutsu, and more in the future.

One investment, multiple returns!

After a long while, Kyōichi put down his book and looked in Kurenai's direction.

"Found something?"

The enemies were still two to three kilometers from Kurenai, but she was making hand signals, with kunai and shuriken ready in hand.

Kyōichi wasn't too worried.

Over these past ten days, Kurenai had become very proficient in the Body Flicker Technique, Asuma had mastered the Vacuum Blade, and although Shisui received the least guidance, his Kenjutsu and Body Flicker Technique had improved greatly.

The three had enough strength, it was just a question of how they'd handle their first kill.

Kyōichi's main body followed just in case of accidents.

The three regrouped and moved toward the wandering samurai's position, clearly having spotted them.

Three kilometers...

"Later i should consider teaching her chakra sensing, though I'm not sure if she can learn it."

Chakra sensing was slightly different from Kurenai's sensing ability.

Kurenai's sensing ability was related to her strong mental power from learning genjutsu since childhood, so her sensing was more precise at short range, while chakra sensing covered a larger area but was slightly less precise at short range.

Each had its advantages and disadvantages.

The distance between both sides grew smaller, and the bandit group of wandering samurai gradually came into view.

They were blood-stained and carried pouches at their waists, clearly having stolen quite a bit of money, and possibly having just killed someone.

Shisui's group hid in the forest where they had set traps, and after a moment...

An explosion rang out.

"What a waste!" Kyōichi sighed.

These few explosive tags cost more than the reward for completing a C-rank mission.

Only these ninja kids would have so much money - normal civilian genin couldn't afford this.

However.

For their first time, it was normal.

"Careful, there are ninja!"

After the chaos, the three struck.

The same old strategy.

Great Fireball, Great Breakthrough.

The flames swept through, making the already chaotic wandering samurai formation even more confused.

Kurenai spotted their position and threw a handful of shuriken, directly taking the lives of two people.

Blood and flesh flew, along with the stench of burning.

The scene was shocking.

"Go!"

Asuma reacted ahead of time, gritting his teeth while forming hand seals, releasing wind chakra from his mouth onto his kunai.

Vacuum Blade!

Then, he charged in first with his kunai.

"I-I'll cover with genjutsu!"

Kurenai's emotions were turbulent, but she quickly calmed down, landing to form hand seals.

"It's just three kids, kill them!"

The wandering samurai saw they were just children and regained their confidence, each recovering their fighting spirit.

However.

The next moment, Shisui arrived before Asuma, reaching the battlefield first.

Using the clone and transformation technique.

Shisui mixed into the enemy formation, constantly assassinating while using Body Flicker and Kenjutsu.

"Retreat, stay together, or we'll all die!"

The enemy adjusted their positions, standing back-to-back in formation, drawing their katanas.

Kurenai activated her genjutsu.

At the same time, Asuma closed in, his kunai directly slashing across an enemy's vital point.

Enhanced by the Vacuum Blade, this strike directly pierced the enemy's heart, spraying blood across his face.

The next moment, three or four swords slashed toward him.

Nothing fancy, just targeting vital points.

Asuma froze for a moment.

"Asuma!"

Kurenai hurriedly threw a few shuriken.

Shisui moved to attack one of them.

However.

These wandering samurai didn't even try to save their comrade, determined to cut down Asuma even at the cost of injury and their comrade's death, filled with killing intent and extremely fierce.

Fighting to the death!

This was the battlefield.

The enemy's sword strikes were fast, not concerned with technique, just quick, precise, and ruthless, trading injury for injury!

Asuma lost his composure.

Just as he was about to be cut...

Clang!

A sword flash swept past, breaking all the samurai swords slashing at Asuma in half.

The next moment, blood sprayed through the air.
