Chapter 9: The Plan
Kurumi walked in front with a stainless steel sword in her hand. Busujima and Rei were behind her, holding a shinai and a homemade spear in their hands. Behind them was Takashi Komuro, holding a baseball bat, and Kohta Hirano, holding a pneumatic nail gun.
The last two people were Saya Takagi and Shizuka Marikawa. The two of them did not have weapons in their hands. Shizuka Marikawa held a small white bag with some emergency medical drugs inside.
Pushing open the glass door of the staff office, the zombies that had been cleaned up outside were separated into a few small piles. It would take a long time to get rid of all of them one by one. Kurumi looked out the window... It was almost dark.
"As I said, these zombies are distinguishing your position through sound..."
"Bang - bang --" Before Saya Takagi could finish her explanation, Kohta Hirano had already shot out two "bullets" with his gun and accurately hit the heads of the two dead bodies, killing them in an instant.
Kurumi also drew her sword. The extraordinary strength and body coordination made up for the shortcomings in her swordsmanship. She dealt with the zombies by slashing at a very tricky angle. Doing this saved strength and kept the blade from being damaged.
A light flashed through Busujima's eyes behind her. From Kurumi's performance just now, it was obvious that she had been practicing the sword for more than ten years. However, she had carefully observed her hand in the office.
She did not look like a person who held a sword all year round. She did not even have a callus. Her jade-white hands were like those of a young lady from an aristocratic family who had taken care of them very carefully. No, they were even better! How could she not be suspicious? Could it be that she was a genius in the path of the sword?
She no longer thought about these confusing problems. She focused her attention on the zombies in front of her and slashed down.
"Bang!" The skills she had mastered with the help of the huge force transmitted by the shinai crushed the zombie's head. Her precise control ensured that the shinai remained undamaged.
The others also followed closely. Saya Takagi no longer explained her ideas about the dead body. This team gave her a sense of security that she had not felt for a long time.
...
"Huh! Why are there so many? Didn't they all go to the sports field?" Kurumi sighed softly. She saw a large group of zombies in the corner of the stairwell and complained in a low voice.
Even if killing these dead bodies did not take much effort, it was still very exhausting to ensure that the sword remained undamaged while killing them in one blow. Moreover, she had to suppress her emotions to ensure that she didn't go berserk, which made her very annoyed.
Kurumi, who originally planned to follow the lead team casually, knew that her idea had been ruined the moment Side Missions came out. Those high rewards would obviously not be given without effort.
Perhaps... some things that had never appeared in the original work would appear. For example, a small boss or something like that. Kurumi was not sure if she could kill it right now. She probably only had a chance if she kept killing zombies and obtaining the bonus points.
What? You're telling Kurumi not to believe these things. No, no, no. It's better to play it safe. She liked to have easy games over ones full of tension. After all, how could a dragon face a loss?
Hearing Kurumi's complaints, everyone stopped moving.
At this point, Busujima looked at the zombies below and said, "We don't have to fight with all of them as long as we can get out smoothly. The most important thing is to save time and strength."
"Yes, these dead bodies should only be particularly sensitive to sound, and their strength is astonishing. Once caught, you will be eaten. So, you must be careful." Saya Takagi hugged her chest and reminded her.
"Ah --"
Just as Kurumi was about to tell the crowd about what to do, she heard a sharp female voice pierce her eardrums. Her eyes narrowed slightly, and she rushed forward with her sword, followed by everyone.
... At the corner of the stairs at the junction of the second and third floors.
Three men and two women were in a dilemma. Zombies surrounded them.
The male leader had a serious expression on his face. He held a baseball bat like Takashi Komuro and shouted at the female behind him, "Damn it! You guys back up, leave it to me!"
The yellow-haired zombie had the geographical advantage. Following the sounds, it opened its big mouth full of bacteria and fiercely bit towards the boy named Zhuo Zao.
"Bang -" The yellow-haired zombie in front of Zhuo Zao was shot through the temple by Kohta Hirano's nail gun, and its blood splashed over the boy's face. The boy was shocked and did not know what to do.
The surrounding dead bodies did not hesitate, and they instinctively bit toward Zhuo Zao, following their body's instinct!
"Zi - pu --" Kurumi jumped down from the stairs. The blade in his hand turned slightly and cut off the head of one of the zombies. It fell to the ground, and the black and red blood sprayed out without slowing. The girls retreated in panic.
Busujima, Rei Miyamoto, and the others arrived one by one. They quickly cleaned up the zombies around them. Zhuo Zao and the others were also awakened. One of the girls turned to Kurumi in front of her, "Thank you... Thank you very much!"
"Oh." Kurumi looked at them coldly. "Have you been bitten?"
"No, no." It was still the short-haired man who hurriedly explained to everyone.
"Looks like they really are fine." Rei Miyamoto looked at everyone in surprise.
After all, meeting companions who had not been bitten in this school full of zombies was really lucky. Kurumi also knew that the protagonist and his group would definitely bring these small teams that were destined to die.
Before Takashi Komuro could send them an invitation, he said to them, "We want to escape from here, huh? Do you want to go together?"
"En, en."
...
"Why are there still so many? We won't be able to bypass them like this." Takashi Komuro felt despair at the number of dead bodies in front of the school building's gate.
"Those dead bodies have no vision and can't see us. As long as we don't make a sound, they won't attack."
"Then Saya, go and try. See if they will attack you or not." Takashi Komuro retorted mercilessly. Saya Takagi immediately quietened down since she knew that it was just her theory. As for whether it was correct or not, it still had to be tested. However, she did not have the courage to do so.
"Let me do it. There will always be people who want to go, right?" Takashi Komuro took a step forward.
"No, Takashi, you can't go!" Rei Miyamoto wanted to stop Takashi Komuro but was stopped by Busujima. "Don't interrupt a man. This is the most basic requirement for a woman."
She raised her head and looked at Takashi Komuro, who had turned around. "I wish you good luck."
Takashi Komuro nodded at Busujima and was about to walk into the group of dead bodies, but the next voice stopped him.
"Hey, why do you have to do such a thankless thing?" Everyone focused their eyes on Kurumi, "Since Saya said that this thing is particularly sensitive to sound, why don't we find a source of sound to attract them to the side?"
"Then where can we find a source of sound? The broadcasting room? That's too far!" Just as everyone was refuting Kurumi's proposal, they saw Kurumi reach into the pocket of the school uniform skirt and take something out...
"Nokia!" While Kurumi was still Mo Xiao, watching this anime on Earth, smartphones were not popular yet, so the original settings were based on reality.
Even Takashi Komuro had an outdated mobile phone, right? Thus, the Lord God also gifted a Nokia from the same era to her for free!
Back then, this is a Divine Armament. Its popularity far exceeded that of Apple for the next few years. Not only does it have a full charge, but it can also stay charged for a week. It can resist impacts, and it had an excellent reputation worldwide!
Wasn't turning the volume to the maximum and throwing it away much more realistic than what happened in the anime? Moreover, they didn't need to be afraid of being cheated by the children and someone selling teammates.
