Chapter 7: KST 007: Barbecue Restaurant, Choji vs. Natsuki!
Half a month had passed since the black ball in the sky incident.
Hinata, without a doubt, was grounded yet again.
Thus, Natsuki's plans to guide Hinata in improving her proficiency with the Tenseigan were thwarted.
That day, Kurenai took Natsuki to a barbecue street for skewers.
Barbecue had always been a favorite food of his, carrying a taste of home.
Moreover, there was a famous barbecue restaurant called Niraku in Konoha, always bustling with business. He wondered if it had any connection to Ichiraku Ramen.
When Natsuki and Kurenai arrived, the place was overflowing with people.
"Anniversary Special! Families spending over 1000 Ryo will get free meals for children under 6!"
No wonder it was so crowded; they were having a promotional event.
Truly, no matter the world, there was no shortage of people who loved a good deal.
Natsuki had seen plenty of such events in his past life.
Immediately, he tugged on Kurenai's sleeve: "Sis, look, a special deal! Let's eat here, it smells delicious.
I can eat them out of business, he added silently in his mind.
Only a fool would pass up a good bargain!
Besides, since awakening his new ability, Natsuki realized his appetite had increased dramatically.
Soon, it was their turn to be seated.
It was then they discovered that the family sitting across from them were acquaintances: Choji and his parents.
Little Choji was about the same age as Natsuki, a chubby little boy. His father, Choza, was a large man, and his mother was also quite plump.
"Well, well, Kurenai, and little Natsuki! What a coincidence."
Choji's parents were the first to greet them.
The Yuhi Clan, especially Shinku, was well-known in Konoha and had a good relationship with them.
It was a shame that the Yuhi Clan suffered heavy losses during the Nine-Tails' Rampage.
"Lord Choza, greetings. Little Choji has gotten chubbier," Kurenai replied.
Others might dislike gaining weight and being called put for it.
But for the Akimichi Clan, calling them plump would be the highest compliment.
After all, their clan's secret techniques required the consumption of body fat. It was no exaggeration to say that maintaining a full figure was the source of their power.
Of course, Choji, still a child, was somewhat self-conscious about his size. He mumbled through a mouthful of food, "I'm not chubby, I'm…pleasingly plump!"
"Hahaha…"
His words drew good-natured laughter from the surrounding diners.
Unlike the adults' polite exchanges, the two little boys were not so courteous. Their eyes were only on the food.
Grilled fish, roasted corn, lamb skewers…
In no time, a tall stack of plates piled up in front of both of them.
This scene couldn't help but draw Choji's attention. He finally noticed that the person across from him was also a child.
If it were an adult, he wouldn't have cared much. But among his peers, he hadn't encountered anyone who could out-eat him.
However, at this moment, Natsuki's eating speed was actually faster than his?
This was unacceptable!
In a way, the dinner table was another battlefield.
"I won't lose," Choji declared in his deep voice, stuffing large amounts of food into his mouth.
"Foolish, you're already doomed. I've even eaten a Meat Mountain Demon King. This amount of food isn't even enough to fill the gaps between my teeth."
Natsuki curled his lip, casually throwing out his chuuni persona.
A brief silence fell over the table, but the next moment, the usual lively atmosphere returned.
The adults took it as children's innocent words, just some playful talk.
But, one minute later…
Ten minutes later…
Thirty minutes later…
The mountain-like pile of plates beside them deeply shocked the surrounding crowd.
"Did...did he really eat some kind of Meat Mountain Demon King?"
Choji's father, Choza, couldn't help but ask Kurenai.
Besides his own son, he had never seen anyone in the younger generation eat so much.
The problem was that even Choji was burping frequently, clearly unable to eat anymore. He was still young, and his digestive system wasn't as developed as his father's.
But Natsuki continued to calmly and quickly devour the barbecue, his delicate little face seemingly without a trace of pressure.
"He's not even fat, how can that small belly hold so much food?"
"The Akimichi Clan is famous for their appetite, but how can this little guy be so…strong?"
The surrounding diners were all drawn to the spectacle. Some even started placing bets on how much more food Natsuki could consume.
Due to the "free for children under 6" promotion event, the restaurant owner was both happy about the popularity of his establishment and distressed about his dwindling food supply.
Would he really be eaten into bankruptcy? Should he lower the age limit next time?
Maybe something like, free for children under 3?
"Natsuki, aren't you full yet? Isn't that enough?"
Seeing that everyone's attention was focused on them, Kurenai, as his older sister, felt her cheeks burning with embarrassment and secretly urged Natsuki to stop.
"Not even close. The Meat Mountain Demon King was much bigger than this. Owner, bring me twice as much as what's on these plates."
Natsuki pointed to the mountain-high stack of plates piled up on the floor beside them.
"Thud!"
"Ptooey!!!"
The first sound was the restaurant owner falling backward onto the floor, having lost his balance.
The second sound was Choji, unable to hold back any longer, spewing out the food that had been crammed into his mouth…
